Week Twenty-One

The Boxing Day games did not produce much of a stir in the tables this weekend but that could all change as we go into a very busy week for games. As you can see on the right here that I am doing a poll to see which team will score 100 goals first this season, so thanks for the three that have.

LAURIE KING is now in his fifth weekend at the top at the start of the second half. Laurie picked up two goals in midweek from Arsenal and another two at the weekend from Peterborough. His combination is  Arsenal , Peterborough  and Rangers. Laurie is in joint top but ahead on weekend goals with SIMON DICKINSON as he moves up from fourth to second place this weekend after picking up a total of nine goals for the week. Simon's teams are Celtic, Manchester City and Portsmouth.

At the other end, it’s still JOHN NICHOLLS now in his twentieth weekend at number 119 as his combination picked him up two goals in midweek from Arsenal and another blank score sheet at the weekend.  His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and  Newcastle.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Most of us managed to pick up some more goals again this week but the highest score this week was a total of three goals and they went to nine players who had Arsenal and Manchester City as part of their combination.
So at the start of the second half here at Golden Goals we still have two players out in front as we say fairwell to 2015. CRAIG EVANS and DANIEL GOODSON are both sharing the lead again this week as both picked up another single goal from Manchester City to move their total up to the half way mark with 50 goals each. In second place all on 45 goals we have TONY KING who remained in second place with these from third place last week. In third place up from four is JAMES WISE on 44 goals while in fourth place all on 42 we now have ADRIAN BEW, BARRY BURROUGHS and JOHN DAVIES.

This weekend we had our Christmas Jackpot of £10 in cash to give away and we had one lucky winner to pick the whole lot up. Our winner was CHRIS BOOM winning on a score of 9 goals and he becomes our 24th winner of the season. Chris started with Golden Goals back in our 2008/09 Season finishing in 31st place on 262 goals. Last season he finished in 65th place with 247 goals. Merry Christmas From Golden Goals

Our next post here will be after all of  the games have been played on Boxing Day and Christmas Sunday, so look out for our next results here on Christmas Monday.
Will Laurie King our 2001/02 Champion, stay on top to pick up his second win with Golden Goals as we start our second half? And will Rangers still be our best team as we head into 2016? As you can see that I have started a poll to see which team you think will score 100 goals first this season. Please give us your thoughts as this will be closing at the end of December 2015.
But mean time while we wait to find out, may I wish you, all who come here and have taken an interest in this football competition,

Early Present For Arsenal Fans

ARSENAL beat MANCHESTER CITY 2-1 at home last night to remain in second place in the English Premiership. Arsenal take their goals total to 33 and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. Week Twenty And Half Time

LAURIE KING is now in his fourth weekend at the top at half time. Laurie picked up just one goal this week and the goal came from Rangers at the weekend. His combination is  Arsenal , Peterborough  and Rangers. Laurie is just two goals clear of  RICHARD WILLIAMS as his remains in second place once again. Richards teams  picked him up two goals all from the weekend. His teams are Hibernian, Manchester City and Rangers.

At the other end, it’s still JOHN NICHOLLS now in his nineteenth weekend at number 119 as his combination picked him up five goals for the week. He had two goals in midweek from Bolton and the other three came from the weekend. His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and  Newcastle.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Most of us managed to pick up some more goals this week but the highest score this week was a total of six goals and they went to BOB BURGIN (Stalky (2) who had Derby 4 and MK Dons 2 and JAMES SOMERVILLE who had Derby 4 and Ipswich 2. Both have Celtic as their third team.
So at half time here at Golden Goals we still have two players out in front as we go into the Christmas period. CRAIG EVANS and DANIEL GOODSON are both sharing the lead again this week as both picked up a single goal to move their total up to 49 goals and nearly half way to the cash. In second place is TONY KING who moved up from five with 45 goals. In third place all on 44 goals we have BARBARA BARNES (2), JAMES HUNTER and TOM MACDONALD all moved up from fourth place with RICHARD WILLIAMS moving down one place. NATHAN TREADWELL remains in third place with DAVID STAINS coming straight in. In fourth place on 43 goals we have JAMES WISE joining in now.

Once again this weekend we had two winners to share the £5 cash jackpot which means that we have now had a total of 23 winners. Our winners are  MICHEAL FISHER and NATALIE RAMSDEN both winning on a score of 7 goals each which is the lowest score we have to date for our 33rd Season.
Micheal is in his second season with us. Last season he finished in 96th place out of 106 with a grand total of 221 goals. Out of his combination from last season, he has only kept Manchester United. This season he has had a total of  four blank score sheets and his highest position was 63rd from week one. So his first lot of cash with Golden Goals and we still have plenty of weeks yet for Micheal to win even more in the second half of the season.
Natalie is in her very first second season with us and she is now the second lady to win cash this season. Natalie has not  had any blank score sheets to date and this is the highest that she has been so far.

Micheal  BURTON ALBION 3, CHELSEA 3, MANCHESTER UNITED 1

FA Cup Second Round Replays And More

We had a total of eighteen of our Golden Goals teams in action last night and most managed to pick up some goals.
But first we had the second round replays of the FA CUP, where we had three of our teams in action but only one went through to round three. SCUNTHORPE are through to the next round after they beat LEYTON ORIENT 3-0 at home. With their highest score for a while, Scunthorpe are now on a total of 31 goals. Orient picked up their 4th blank of the season with just one goal scored in their last three games. Also out are CHESTERFIELD. They lost against Walsall away. They drew 0-0 after extra time but them lost 5-3 on penalties. As penalties do not count in our competition, Chesterfield picked up their 9th blank of the season and they have failed to score in their last two games. In fact, Chesterfield have scored just one goal in their last five games.

In the English Championship, MIDDLESBROUGH go top after they beat BURNLEY 1-0 at home. That was Brough’s 38th goal of the season. Burnley picked up their third blank score sheet in arrow with a total of seven for the season. CARDIFF won 3-2 at home to BRENTFORD to take their goals total to 29 while Brentford are on 30. Chelsea Blues

CHELSEA lost their 9th league game out of the sixteen played last night as they lost 2-1 away to Leicester City. Chelsea have only won four of their premiership league games this season and they are now just one point away from the relegation zone in 16th place. Chelsea are now on a total of 23 goals and wonder if we going to see them finish on their lowest score ever with Golden Goals? Their lowest score to date was just 56 goals scored in our 1994/95 Season. Last season they picked up a total of 89.
Also last night from the English Championship, NOTTINGHAM FOREST drew 0-0 away to Blackburn to pick up their 7th blank score sheet of the season.
Tonight we have most of the English Championship playing with a couple of our teams in the FA CUP second round replays.
