The Highest Score Of The Week Goes To........

We have had another five of our Golden Goals teams in action and one of them has picked up the highest score of midweek so far. The team was HIBERNIAN as they won 4-0 at home to Dumbarton. It’s been a very long while since Hibs have had a big score big like that and the goals now gives them a total of 77 goals.
Staying with our Scottish teams, RANGERS picked up their second blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Livingston. After a goal run of fourteen games Rangers remain on a total of 109 goals.
In the English Championship HULL are now on 74 goals as they win 2-0 at home to BRENTFORD. Brentford picked up their 13th blank of the season after they had a great goal run of 16 goals in their last six games.

Tottenham - Points Lost

TOTTENHAM dropped some much needed points last night as they drew 1-1 at home to West Brom. There is now a seven point gap between them and Leicester City who need just three points to be champions.
The single goal takes Tottenham’s goals tally to 74 and they have now scored in all of their last seven games.
This is Tottenham’s 32nd season with Golden Goals and they are just one of our original starters of 1983/84. They became our 10th most voted team and they finished the season on a total of 71 goals. Their highest score came in the 1986/87 season with 109 goals. It is the only season that they have scored over 100 goals in a season. Last season they finished on a total of 75 goals. Over the season’s they have score a grand total of 2315 goals which gives them an average score of 72 per season to date. They have just three votes this season.

Week Thirty-Eight

RICHARD WILLIAMS is just hanging on to the top spot this week as he is now on goal difference only with JOHN DAVIES. Richard picked up a total of eleven goals for the week. This is now his 16th week over the season and now two weeks in a row. Richard is now climbing up the Champions table and is now in 30th place as he has now beaten Robert Hough's 1990/91 and Geoff  Dockerill's 1994/94 score of 274 goals. Richard’s combination is Hibernian, Manchester City  and Rangers. John has Liverpool, Manchester City and Rangers.

At the other end, JOHN NICHOLLS combination managed to pick him up a total of six goals this week. Three came from midweek and another three from the weekend.  They came from Bolton with one while Newcastle picked him up two.  Arsenal failed to score in their game. Although John has been at 119 for a twenty-eight weeks this season the good news is that he has moved up the loser’s league to 29th place. John has beaten Richard Lloyd's 154 in our 1993/94 season and Freda Hillier's 1987/88 and Ian Etheridge score in 1999/2000 Season

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only four of us failed to pick up any midweek goals this week but the highest score to be picked up this week was nine goals and they all went to STUART KEMP who now has a total of 60 midweek goals. They came from Hibernian three, Preston two and Tottenham four.
The race to the £40 Midweek Jackpot has had a bit of a change around with DANIEL GOODSON now just six goals away from the cash and still seven goals in front with a new total of 94 goals. Middlesbrough and Manchester City picked him up a single goal each with Rangers netting two. In second place up from three we have CHRIS SETFORD now on 89 goals. While in third place this week we still have CRAIG EVANS but we now also have JAMES HUNTER
up from fourth place and up from six JOHN DAVIES all now on 85 goals each. In fourth place up from five on 84 goals we have DAVID STAINS. In fifth place we still have TONY KING but RICHARD WILLIAMS is also there both on 83 goals. In joint sixth place all on 82 goals we still have MICK LIDDLE, NATHAN TREADWELL and BENJAMIN WAYMARK they are now joined with JAMES WISE back in the running

This weekend we had two winners to share the cash on a total of 10 goals which is a bit better. But one of the winners picked up their second win of the season and that went to ALEX DAVEY.  The other win picked up their first win of the season and that went to CARRIE-ANNE WRIGHT which now takes our winners total up to fifty-one.
Alex won his first lot of cash in week twenty-six and that was also a part shared win. Since then Alex has picked up just one more blank score sheet to take his weekend blank score sheets total to four.  Although he moved up a couple of places to 92, this is the highest that he has been all season. His Best team is still Manchester City.
Carrie-Anne is in her very first season with Golden Goals and I would like to thank her for joining in the fun. Well saying that Carrie has had a lot of up’s and down’s and her highest position is 74 in week eleven. Carrie has had a total of five blank score sheets and her best team is also Manchester City. Our winners teams are

Alex  CHELSEA 4, LEEDS UTD 2, MANCHESTER CITY 4

WEEKEND RESULTS
The weekend has ended as the midweek started with another set of teams picking up the same highest score. As a result this weekend average score moved up from four of last weekend to 5 goals and that was mainly down to two of our top teams. FA CUP Semi-Finals
We had three of the four teams in this cup competition and now the final looks like a one horse race. The first game that we had was between MANCHESTER UNITED and EVERTON. Both teams have not been playing that well this season but Everton should have had the upper hand with the amount of goals that they have scored this season but it was not to be. Manchester United won the match in injury time 2-1 and the goals takes their goals tally to 57. Everton hit goal number 77 but they have now scored just three goals in their last seven games, Manchester United will be playing Crystal Palace on May 21st as they beat our other team, WATFORD 2-1. That was Watford's 39th goal of the season.

Week Thirty-Seven

It’s all change at the top as RICHARD WILLIAMS moves back to the top after picking up a total of seven goals for the week. This is now his 15th week over the season and that will be this seasons record as no-one can beat that now. The good news, at last, is that Richard has started to move up the Champions table in 32nd place as he has now beaten Phil Mockler's score of 263 goals scored in the 1989/90 Season. Richard’s combination is Hibernian, Manchester City  and Rangers. BOB SOPER moved back down to second place and a goal behind as his combination picked him up a total of six goals at the weekend coming from Arsenal, Manchester City and Rangers.

At the other end, JOHN NICHOLLS combination managed to pick him up a total of five goals this week all from the weekend.  They came from Arsenal and Bolton with one each while Newcastle picked him three. Although John has been at 119 for a twenty-seven weeks this season the good news is that this will not be the lowest score with Golden Goals as his total of 150 goals now moves him up the loser’s league to 32nd place. John has beaten our pub team R.U.Shaw of 146 goals in our 1995/95 Season.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Over under half of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals this week. The highest score to be picked up this week was seven goals and they all went to PETER PORTER who now has 66 midweek goals. They all came from Birghton’s two league games. Peter’s other teams are Arsenal and Celtic.
The race to the £40 Midweek Jackpot has not had much of a change around but DANIEL GOODSON is just ten goals away from the cash and still seven goals in front with a new total of 90 goals. Middlesbrough once again picked him up the two goals His other teams are Manchester City and Rangers. In second place we still have CRAIG EVANS now on 83 goals while remaining in third place with 82 goals we have CHRIS SETFORD. In fourth place down from three is JAMES HUNTER with 81 goals. This weekend we had three winners to share the cash on a total of 8 goals. But one of the winners picked up his second win of the season and that went to CHRIS BOOM.  The other two winners picked up their first win which now takes our winners total to the magic 50. They are ARTHUR BROWN and NATHAN TREADWELL.
Chris won his first lot of cash in week twenty-one which was the Christmas Jackpot of £10. Since then Chris has picked up just one more blank score sheet to take his weekend blank score sheets to three.  Although he is back up to 16th place, fourth is his best from week twenty-seven.
Arthur started with the competition way back in our 1995/96 Season. Last season he finished in 42nd place with a total of 264 goals and one shared weekend win. This season, Arthur has only picked up two blank score sheets to date and four is his highest position for this season.
Nathan joined us this season and he has had a total of four weekend blank score sheets. Manchester City is his best team and 25 is his highest in week eighteen. Our winners combinations are

Chris  CELTIC 2, LEYTON ORIENT 3, MANCHESTER CITY 3
Arthur  CELTIC 2, LUTON 3, MANCHESTER CITY 3
Nathan  MANCHESTER CITY 3, MIDDLESBROUGH 2, SHEFFIELD UNITED 3

WEEKEND RESULTS
We did not have a very good weekend for goals as the weekend average score fell down again to just 4 goals. The reason is simple. We had fifteen teams that failed to score any goals and another seven that had no game at all over the weekend.
The highest score of the weekend goes to PETERBOROUGH from League One. They beat Colchester 4-1 away and that takes their goals total to 86 and they remain our fourth best team of the season this week.
