Week Thirty-Three

In Week Thirty-Three of the competition, we had just one player to win the prize money of £5 this weekend, and they are STALKY (2) (Bob Burgin) winning on a score of just 7 goals. This is his second win of the season with his second selection and he becomes our 8th player to do so. Bob last won some cash in Week Twenty-Two. Since then he has now had five blank weekend score sheets and 48th is still his best position. Rangers is his best team. His winning teams are,

Just under half of us managed to pick up some goals this week, which means that our top six have almost stayed the same as last week’s table once again. Still out in front again this week we have KEITH RATTLE, now with a total of 90 goals and now needs just 10 goals to win the cash. Keith’s teams are Chelsea, Rangers and Wrexham. In second place, we still have BARBARA BARNES (1) now on a total of 82 goals. In third place we still have SCOTT THOMSON (1) now on a total of 77 goals. In fourth place we now have MICHAEL FISHER up from five now on a total of 76 goals. In fifth place we now have JOHN FILTNESS, our 2023/24 joint Champion and TONY GUY (3)  both moving down from four now with a total of 75 goals. In sixth place we have RICHIE WILLIAMS down from five with a total of 73 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 5 of our teams without a game this weekend, plus we had another 17 of our teams that failed to score any goals. It’s was yet another rubbish weekend for goals. Seven of us failed to pick up any goals from our three teams this weekend. The average score was five goals from last weekend, but this weekend it went right back down to just 2 goals. Well done if your teams picked up more than that. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals once again and we had just one of our teams that reached that score. They were from NOTTS COUNTY. CARABAO/LEAGUE CUP FINAL

We had both teams in the final and they were ARSENAL and MANCHESTER CITY. The first piece of silverware of the season goes to Manchester City as they win 2-0 after 90 minutes. City are on a total of 89 goals and have extended their goal run to 12 league/cup games, while Arsenal after a goal run of 12 league/cup games, picked up their 4th blank of the season. City have now won the League Cup 8 times to Arsenal’s 2 last being in 1983 against Sheffield Wednesday.

PREMIER LEAGUE

Top of the table Arsenal and second place Manchester City both had no league game due to the cup final. Manchester United are still in third place with ASTON VILLA in fourth place. They won 2-0 at home against WEST HAM UNITED. Villa are on a total of 46 goals while West Ham picked up their 10th blank of the season. In fifth place we have LIVERPOOL, who lost 2-1 away to BRIGHTON. Liverpool have not won in their last three league games, are on a total of 62 goals and have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. Brighton are on a total of 55 goals. CHELSEA lost 3-0 away to Everton and picked up their 5th blank of the season and now two in a row. NEWCASTLE UNITED lost 2-1 at home to SUNDERLAND and are on a total of 60 goals and have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. Sunderland, after they had failed to score in their last two league games, are now on a total of 35 goals. TOTTENHAM lost 3-0 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Tottenham after a goal run of 5 league/cup games, picked up their 7th blank of the season. Forest are now on a total of 36 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDDLESBROUGH are still in second place after they drew 0-0 away to BLACKBURN ROVERS and picked up their 11th blank of the season. Rovers picked up their 14th blank of the season.

In the Play-offs, we still have two of the four teams this weekend as IPSWICH TOWN remained in third place, after they drew 1-1 at home to Millwall. Ipswich are on a total of 70 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. SOUTHAMPTON have moved up to sixth place after they won 2-0 at home to Oxford Utd. Southampton are on a total of 74 goals and have now scored in all of their last 16 league/cup games.

Meanwhile, BIRMINGHAM CITY lost 1-0 away to Derby and picked up their 11th blank of the season. BRISTOL CITY lost 1-0 at home to West Brom and picked up their 16th blank of the season. NORWICH CITY won 1-0 away to Charlton and are on a total of 62 goals. WATFORD drew 0-0 at home against LEICESTER CITY and picked up their 10th blank of the season. Leicester picked up their 7th blank of the season. WREXHAM won 2-1 away to SHEFFIELD UNITED. Wrexham are on a total of 75 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. LEAGUE ONE

CARDIFF CITY are still in second place after they drew 0-0 at home to BLACKPOOL and picked up their 7th blank of the season and now two in a row. Blackpool picked up their 13th blank of the season.

In the Play-offs, we have just two of the four teams with BOLTON WANDERERS still in third place after they lost 1-0 away to Port Vale. Bolton have picked up their 10th blank of the season and now two in a row. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN move up to fifth place after they lost 3-1 away to PLYMOUTH. Huddersfield are on a total of 63 goals while Plymouth are now on a total of 64 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league games.

Meanwhile, LUTON TOWN drew 1-1 at home to STOCKPORT COUNTY and are on 58 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. County are on a total of 57 goals. PETERBOROUGH UNITED drew 1-1 away to AFC Wimbledon and are on a total of 59 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league games. LEYTON ORIENT won 2-0 at home to WYCOMBE WANDERERS and are on a total of 56 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. LEAGUE TWO 

Top of the table BROMLEY won 1-0 again, at home to Colchester Utd and are on a total of 64 goals. MK DONS are still in second place after they lost 3-1 at home to BARNET.  The Dons are on a total of 83 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. Barnet are now on a total of 52 goals.

In the Play-offs we still have two of the four teams with NOTTS COUNTY remain in fourth place after they won 5-2 at home to Cheltenham. County are on a total of 63 goals. Chesterfield are now on a total of 62 goals. SWINDON TOWN have moved up to 5th place after they won 1-0 away to Tranmere. Swindon are on a total of 72 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 18 league/cup games.

Meanwhile, CHESTERFIELD won 1-0 away to Accrington and are on a total of 63 goals. After they had failed to score in their last two league games, GILLINGHAM lost 2-1 at home to Bristol Rovers and are on a total of 47 goals. It’s 60 goals for CREWE after they won 4-0 away to Shrewsbury. WALSALL won 2-1 at home to Newport and are on a total of 54 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership, top of the table HEARTS won 1-0 at home to Dundee and that is their 71st goal of the season. RANGERS have moved back up to second place after they won 4-1 at home to Aberdeen. Rangers are now on a total of 76 goals. CELTIC have dropped down to third place after they lost 2-0 away to Dundee Utd. That is Celtic’s 6th blank of the season. HIBERNIAN drew 0-0 away to Motherwell and picked up their 11th blank of the season and now two in a row.

In the Championship AYR UNITED lost 1-0 at home to Greenock Morton and picked up their 9th blank of the season. After they had failed to score in their last three games, ROSS COUNTY drew 2-2 at home to Dunfermline. County are on a total of 40 goals.

In League One, STENHOUSEMUIR are still in 2nd place after they won 2-0 at home to bottom of the table Kelty Hearts. Stenhousemuir are on a total of 51 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 7 league games. COVE RANGERS drew 2-2 at home to Hamilton and are on a total of 42 goals. EAST FIFE drew 2-2 away to Queen of the South and are on a total of 34 goals.

In League Two, CLYDE in 3rd place won 2-1 at home to Stranraer and are on a total of 55 goals. DUMBARTON won 2-1 at home to Annan and are now on a total of 46 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 5 games.

Our worst performing team is BRISTOL CITY this weekend, as they have picked up 16 blank score sheets out of their 43 league/cup games.

Our highest scoring team in our 43rd season is MANCHESTER CITY. They won 10-1 at home against Exeter City in the FA CUP 3rd Round, in Week Twenty-Three.

We have GRAHAM PHILLIPS still at the top this weekend for his 9th week of the season. Graham picked up a total of just 2 goals from the week and his lead is still four goals clear. Bournemouth and United Draw

In the Premier League, after they had failed to score in their previous two league games, AFC BOURNEMOUTH drew 2-2 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED. Bournemouth are on a total of 49 goals while United are on a total of 59 goals and they have now scored in all fo their last 20 league/cup games. 

In the Championship, after they had failed to score in their previous two league games, PRESTON NE won 3-1 at home to Stoke City. Preston are now on a total of 48 goals. 

MK Dons Doing Well

In the Champioship, SOUTHAMPTON won 1-0 at home to NORWICH CITY and have moved into the play-offs in 6th place. Southampton are on a total of 72 goals and have extended their goal run to 15 league/cup games. Norwich picked up their 10th blank of the season. 

In League Two, MK DONS in second place won 1-0 at home to Colchester Utd and are on a total of 82 goals  and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. 

Bromley Still Winning

In the Championship, WATFORD won 3-1 at home to WREXHAM and are now on a total of 52 goals. Wrexham are on a total of 73 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. 

In League One, second place CARDIFF CITY lost 2-0 at home to WYCOMBE WANDERERS and picked up their 6th blank of the season. Week Thirty-Two

In Week Thirty-Two of the competition, we had a total of four winners to share the prize money of £5, and they are LYANNA GRIMWOOD, TONY GUY (4), BRUCE SELF and KEAMUS SETNA our 2005/06 Champion. All won on a score of just 8 goals each. Two players have already won some cash this season, while the other two are first-time winners taking our total to 39 winners.

Tony now becomes our second player to win three times, but this time it’s with his fourth selection. His last win was with his third selection in Week Twenty-Nine. This one has been as high as 11th place in Weeks Sixteen and Seventeen. He has picked up just one blank score sheet. Arsenal is currently his best team with this one.

Lyanna becomes our seventh player to win twice this season. Lyanna first won some cash in Week Nine but since then she has been as high as 7th place in Week Twenty. Lyanna has now had three blank weekend scoresheets and Cardiff City is her best team to date. 

Bruce started with Golden Goals back in the 2006/07 season and finished in the winning frame in 18th place with a total of 260 goals. He also picked up one weekend win. Last season, Bruce finished in 35th place on 288 goals. He once again picked up one weekend win. This weekend we can see Bruce at his highest to date. Arsenal is his best team and he has picked up three blank weekend score sheets.

Keamus has been with us from the 1998/99 season on where he finished in 88th place with a total of 233 goals. Keamus became Champion in the 2005/06 season with a total of 309 goals. He also had three weekend wins. That score has placed him in 21st place in our Champions League. Last season Keamus finished in 56th place with a total of 269 goals. This season, Keamus has been as high as 5th place for a total of 7 weeks. He has picked up a total of four blank weekend scoresheets with Cardiff City being his best team. Our winning teams are,

The average score was just two goals last weekend, but this weekend it went back up a touch to 5 goals. In the Championship, MIDDLESBROUGH lost 1-0 at home against Charlton and that is their 10th blank of the season. NORWICH CITY won 2-1 at home to SHEFFIELD UNITED and they are on a total of 59 goals. United picked up goal number 56 and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. BLACKBURN ROVERS picked up their 13th blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to Oxford Utd. BIRMINGHAM CITY won 1-0 at home to QPR and are on a total of 53 goals. SOUTHAMPTON drew 1-1 away to West Brom and they are on a total of 69 goals and have extended their goal run to 13 league/cup games. PRESTON NE lost 3-0 away to Coventry and that is their 11th blank of the season.

MK Dons 9 Goals in Last 2 Games

In the Championship LEICESTER CITY won 2-0 at home to BRISTOL CITY and are on a total of 55 goals. Bristol City picked up their 15th blank of the season and have now failed to score in their last three games. It’s 70 goals for WRESXHAM after they lost 2-1 at home to Hull. Wrexham have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. WATFORD drew 1-1 against bottom of the table Sheffield Wednesday and they are on a total of 48 goals. IPSWICH TOWN drew 3-3 away to Stoke and they are now on a total of 67 goals and a goal run of 6 league/cup games. 

In League One CARDIFF CITY drew 1-1 away to Barnsley and picked up goal number 79.  LUTON TOWN drew 1-1 away to Doncaster and are on a total of 52 goals. LEYTON ORIENT won 2-1 away to Stevenage and are on a total of 48 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league games. PLYMOUTH won 3-0 away to Wigan and are now on a total of 58 goals. 

In League Two MK DONS won 5-1 away to GILLINGHAM and have taken their goals tally to 79. Gillingham picked up goal number 46. WALSALL picked up their 13th blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to Salford. 

In the Scottish Championship it’s 50 goals for AYR UNITED after they lost 2-1 at home to Queens Park. 

In League Two DUMBARTON won 2-0 at home against Stranraer and are on a total of 43  goals.

West Ham in Quarter-Finals of FA CUP

In the last game of the FA CUP 5^th Round, WEST HAM UNITED drew 2-2 at home to Brentford after the full 90 minutes. The score remained the same after extra time. In the penalty shoot-out, West Ham won 5-3. West Ham are on a total of 42 goals.

Week Thirty-One

In Week Thirty-One of the competition, we are now just over the halfway mark in the second half of our season. This weekend we had two winners to share the prize money and they are TONY KING (2) and STEVE STUBB (2) both won on a score of just 7 goals each. Tony now becomes our sixth player to win twice with Steve becoming our 37th winner of the season. 

Tony last won some shared cash back in Week Twenty-Two with his first combination. So with his second combination, this is the highest that he has been. Tiny has picked up just one blank weekend score sheet. His best team is Chelsea.

Steve started with Golden Goals back before the 1995/96 season, but our records have been lost before that season. The next season that we can see Steve is in the 1996/97 season on where he finished in 90th place out of 106 with a total of 209 goals. He picked up one shared weekend win. For a while now, Steve has had two combinations and last season, Steve finished in the winning frame in 11th place with a total of 315 goals. This season, we can see him at his highest point so far. He has picked up five blank weekend score sheets and Manchester City is his best team. Our winning teams are,

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT.

Almost all of us managed to pick up some goals this week, which means that our top six have almost stayed the same as last week’s table once more. Still out in front again this week we have KEITH RATTLE, now with a total of 86 goals. Keith’s teams are Chelsea, Rangers and Wrexham. In second place, we still have BARBARA BARNES (1) now on a total of 78 goals. In third place we still have RICHIE WILLIAMS on a total of 73 goals. In fourth place we now have SCOTT THOMSON (1) down from three and now he is joined with STEVE STUBBS (2). Both on a total of 72 goals. In fifth place we now have TONY GUY (3) down from four with JOHN FILTNESS, our 2023/24 joint Champion moving back in the race. Both with a total of 71 goals. In sixth place we have MICHAEL FISHER down from fifth place, now with a total of 70 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 17 of our teams without a game this weekend, plus we had another 10 of our teams that failed to score any goals. After a really good weekend for goals last weekend, this weekend it’s all gone pear-shaped. The average score was six goals last weekend, but this weekend it went back down to just 2 goals. Well done if your teams picked up more than that. The highest score over the weekend was 4 goals and we had three of our teams that reached that score. They were from CHELSEA, MK DONS and MIDDLESBROUGH.

FA CUP 5th Round

We had more of our teams in cup action and here are the ones that made it through to the next round. They are ARSENAL who won 2-1 away to Mansfield. Arsenal are on a total of 78 goals and have extended their goal run to 11 league/cup games. WREXHAM drew 2-2 against CHELSEA at home after the end of the 90 minutes and then they lost 4-2 after extra time. Wrexham are on a total of 69 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. Chelsea have taken their goals tally up to 77 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. NEWCASTLE UNITED lost 3-1 at home to MANCHESTER CITY and are on a total of 58 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. City are now on a total of 86 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. SOUTHAMPTON won 1-0 away to Fulham and are on a total of 68 goals and have extended their goal run to 12 league/cup games. NORWICH CITY lost 3-0 away to Leeds Utd and that is their 9th blank of the season after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. SUNDERLAND go out after they lost 1-0 away to Port Vale and picked up their 11th blank of the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDDLESBROUGH are still in 2nd place after they won 4-0 away to QPR and have taken their goals tally to 59.

In the Play-offs we still have two of the four teams this weekend as IPSWICH TOWN remain in 4th place, after they drew 1-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY and are now on a total of 64 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league games. Leicester, third from bottom, picked up goal number 53. Wrexham are still in 6th place after they had no league game this week.

Meanwhile, BLACKBURN ROVERS drew 1-1 at home to Portsmouth and are on a total of 35 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. BRISTOL CITY lost 2-0 at home to Coventry and picked up their 14th blank of the season. City have now failed to score in their last two games. BIRMINGHAM CITY lost 1-0 away to Charlton and picked up their 10th blank of the season. SHEFFIELD UNITED drew 1-1 at home to West Brom and are on a total of 55 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 9 league games.

LEAGUE ONE

CARDIFF CITY have now dropped down to 2nd place after they lost their seventh league game 2-0 at home to Lincoln. After a goal run to 21 league/cup games, City picked up their 5th blank of the season.

In the Play-offs, we still have three of the four teams with BOLTON WANDERERS still in 3rd place after they won 3-1 at home to WYCOMBE WANDERERS. Bolton are now on a total of 58 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. Wycombe are on a total of 59 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 7 league games. Stockport County are still in 5th place after they had no game over the weekend. It’s 60 goals for HUDDERSFIELD TOWN in 6th place after they won 1-0 at home to Rotherham.

Meanwhile, LEYTON ORIENT lost 2-1 away to Bradford and picked up goal number 46.  BLACKPOOL drew 1-1 at home to Wigan and are on a total of 47 goals. LUTON TOWN lost 3-2 at home to Reading and are on a total of 51 goals. PLYMOUTH won 2-1 at home to Doncaster and are on a total of 55 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

Top of the table BROMLEY drew 1-1 away to Grimsby and are on a total of 62 goals. MK DONS have moved up to 2nd place after they won 4-1 at home to Harrogate. The Dons are on a total of 74 goals.

In the Play-offs, we now have two of the four teams with NOTTS COUNTY back up to 3rd place after they won 2-1 away to WALSALL and are on a total of 56 goals. Walsall are on a total of 49 goals. SWINDON TOWN remained in 5th place after they drew 2-2 away to Crawley. Swindon are on a total of 68 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 15 games.

Meanwhile, BARNET lost 2-0 away to Salford and picked up their 9th blank of the season. CREWE lost 2-1 away to Bristol Rovers and are on a total of 55 goals. CHESTERFIELD lost 3-2 at home to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 59 goals. GILLINGHAM drew 1-1 at home to Fleetwood and are on a total of 45 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the SCOTTICH CUP Quarter-finals we had just two teams left in this competition and they had to play each other. They were RANGERS and CELTIC. In this rivalry old firm game, it finished 0-0 after the full 90 minutes and in extra time the score remained the same. Celtic went on to win 4-2 on penalties. Rangers after a goal run of 6 league/cup games, picked up their 5th blank of the season. Celtic after a goal run of 12 league/cup games, picked up their 5th blank of the season. 

In the Championship ROSS COUNTY who are now second from bottom of the table, drew 0-0 away to Arbroath. County have picked up their 13th blank of the season, and have now failed to score in their last two games.

In League One, STENHOUSEMUIR are still in 2nd place after they drew 1-1 away to Queen of the South. Stenhousemuir are on a total of 48 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 5 league games. COVE RANGERS won 2-1 at home against Peterhead and are on a total of 39 goals. EAST FIFE lost 3-0 at home to Hamilton and picked up their 12th blank of the season and now two in a row. In League Two, CLYDE in 3rd place drew 1-1 away to Forfar and are on a total of 52 goals. DUMBARTON won 3-0 at home to The Spartans and are now on a total of 41 goals.

Our highest scoring team in our 43rd season is MANCHESTER CITY. They won 10-1 at home against Exeter City in the FA CUP 3rd Round, in Week Twenty-Three.

We have a new leader this weekend with GARY BOLBERY at the top on goal difference as he now becomes the 7th player to do so. Gary picked up a total of 12 goals from the week. His teams are Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City. Behind him, on goal difference we now have our double times Champion, Tony Guy (2) with his second combination as he picks up a total of 13 goals from his teams this week. Tony’s teams are Arsenal, Celtic and Chelsea.

At the other end at 111 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY(John Wood) there for his 10th consecutive week and now eleven over the season. John picked up 4 goals this week. His teams are Cove Rangers, East Fife and Stenhousemuir.
