In the Premier League, WEST HAM UNITED have now only won one of their seven league games played as they drew 1-1 away to Everton. West Ham are on a total of 8 goals and are currently second from bottom.

Also the EFL have decided that the abandoned game between BLACKBURN ROVERS and IPSWICH TOWN from last Saturday fixture will have to be replayed later on in the season.

Week Eight

In Week Eight of the competition we had just one winner to take the full £5 weekend prize money. That now means that we have had a total of 12 winners this season. Our winner is SAMUEL STEPEHENS, who won on a score of 10 goals, which is his personal best weekend score. This is Samuel’s fifth season with us as he started in the 2021/22 season. In that season he finished in 29th place out of 113 with a total of 290 goals. He had one weekend win. Last season he finished in 90th place out of 114 with a total of 243 goals. This season, Samuel is at his highest position to date. Most of us managed to pick up some goals this week, which means that our top five have had a slight change this week. LUCIFER (John Wood) picked up the most number of goals with 12. They came from Brighton, Manchester City and Newcastle United. Lucifer now has a total of 20 midweek goals.

In the lead this week we still have EMMAF now with a total of 36 goals. In second place we still have DAVID BARRETT now with 30 goals. In third place we still have BISH-BASH-BOSH (Keith Rattle) but HAYLEY ADKINS joins him up from four. Both with a total of 29 goals. In fourth place, up from fifth place we now have our 2005/06 Champion, KEAMUS SETNA on a total of 24 goals. In fifth place we now have BARBARA BARNES (1) and our joint 2023/24 Champion, JOHN FILTNESS. Both on a total of 22 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

With a near full weekend fixture, we had just 2 teams without a game over the weekend, with another 14 of our teams that failed to score any goals. The average weekend score fell from six goals last weekend, to just 3 goals this weekend, so well done if your teams picked up more than that.

The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals, and they came from the Premier League where MANCHESTER CITY picked up their biggest result of the season with a 5-1 home win over Burnley. City have taken their goals tally to 16 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games

Manchester City started with Golden Goals back in our first season of 1983/84 where they finished on a total of 73 goals. Their highest score was in the 2013/14 and 2018/19 season with a total of 137 goals. They have scored 100 or more goals in ten of their 32 season’s with us. Last season they finished on a total of 92. This season they have picked up a total of 19 votes and they have had just one blank scoresheet to date. Over the years they have netted a total of 2782 goals which gives them an average score of 86 goals per season.

CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDDLESBROUGH are still top after they drew 1-1 away to SOUTHAMPTON. Middlesbrough are on a total of 12 goals while Southampton are on 13 goals. BIRMINGHAM CITY lost 3-0 away to Coventry to pick up their fourth blank scoresheet and now just one goal in their last 5 games. It’s 20 goals for WREXHAM after they drew 1-1 at home to Derby. Wrexham have kept their 100% scoring record after a total of 10 league/cup games. BLACKBURN ROVERS lost 3-0 away to Charlton and picked up their third blank scoresheet of the season. IPSWICH TOWN won 2-1 at home to Portsmouth and are on a total of 12 goals. WYCOMBE lost 2-1 away to AFC Wimbledon and are on a total of 15 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league games. LEYTON ORIENT lost 3-2 at home to Stevenage and are on a total of 13 goals. BLACKPOOL lost 1-0 away to Bradford and picked up their fifth blank of the season and now just 2 goals in their last six games. PLYMOUTH won 4-0 away to Burton and have taken their goals total to 19. In the Championship, AYR UNITED won 4-2 at home to Airdrie and have taken their goals tally up to 24 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league games. ROSS COUNTY have still yet to win a game as they drew 1-1 away to Greenock. County are on a total of 20 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league games.

In League One, STENHOUSEMUIR are down to third place after they lost 2-0 away to Hamilton. Stenhousemuir picked up their fourth blank of the season. EAST FIFE lost 4-1 away to Inverness CT and are on a total of 15 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league games. HAYLEY ADKINS becomes the second player to reach number one this season. Hayley picked up a total of 13 goals from the week. Hayley’s teams are Hearts, Liverpool and Manchester City. David Barrett has dropped down to second place after being top for seven consecutive weekends. He is just 2 goals behind Hayley as his team’s picked him up a total of 6 goals from the week. In the Championship LEICESTER CITY drew 1-1 away to West Brom and picked up goal number 11.

Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round

 

We had another five of our teams in the Carabao/League Cup Third Round tie and four of them are through to the next round. They are MANCHESTER CITY who won 2-0 away to HUDDERSFIELD TOWN. City are on a total of 11 goals while Huddersfield picked up their second consecutive blank scoresheet. NEWCASTLE UNITED picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 4-1 at home to Bradford. Newcastle have taken their goals tally to 7 goals.  TOTTENHAM won 3-0 at home to Doncaster and are now on a total of 13 goals. ARSENAL won 2-0 away to Port Vale and are on a total of 12 goals.

Carabao/League Cup 3rd Rd plus more

 

We have had more of the Carabao/League Cup Third Round games in action, where we had 8 teams playing. Out of them, 7 are through to the next round. They are BRIGHTON who have picked up the biggest result of the night by winning 6-0 away to Barnsley. Brighton have taken their goals tally up to 18 and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. It’s 20 goals for CARDIFF CITY as they win 2-1 away to Burnley. Cardiff have extended their goal run to 9 league/cup games. CHELSEA won 2-1 away to Lincoln City and are on a total of 12 goals and a goal run of 5 league/cup games. Watford One Win in Six Games

In the Championship, WATFORD lost 1-0 away to Millwall and that is their second consecutive blank score sheet and now the third blank of the season.

Week Seven

In Week Seven of the competition we had three winners to share the £5 weekend prize money. That now means that we have had a total of 11 winners this season.

Our winners are BAILEY MORAN, our 1987/88 and 2011/12 Champion PHIL REEVE and JAMIE WOOD all winning on a score of 10 goals each, which is their personal best weekend score.

Bailey started with Golden Goals in the 2020/21 season where he finished in 68th place out of 116 with a total of 246 goals. Last season he finished in 30th place with 292  goals. This season Bailey has been as high as 11th place in Weeks Three and Four. Celtic is his best team.

Phil has been with us for the full 43 seasons. In the first season of 1983/84 he finished in 15th place out of 25 with a total of 256 goals. Phil first became Champion in the 1987/88 and then again in 2011/12. Last season, Phil finished in 69th place out of 114 with 261 goals. This season Phil is at his highest position this week and his best team Bolton.

Jamie started with us in the 2015/16 season where he finished in the winning frame in 12th place out of 119 with a total of 278 goals. Last season, Jamie finished in 92nd place out of 114 with 40 goals. This season, Jamie is at his highest position this week with Celtic being his best team. Here are their winning teams.

Forest In Cup Disaster

 

We had another one of our teams in the Carabao/League Cup 3^rd Round and they were NOTTINGHAM FOREST. After they went 2-0 up in the first half, Forest lost 3-2 away to Swansea City after two late goals in injury time. After they had failed to score in their previous 2 games, Forest are on a total of 6 goals.

Palace In, Villa Out

 

In the Carabao/League Cup 3^rd Round we had just two of our teams in action last night. They were ASTON VILLA who drew 1-1 away to Brentford and picked up their very first goal of the season after four consecutive blank score sheets, then lost 4-2 on penalties. CRYSTAL PALACE drew 1-1 at home to Millwall and then won 4-2 on penalties. Palace are on a total of 5 goals.

Week Six

In Week Six of the competition we had our very first Rollover of the season worth £10. The cash was shared by two players and they are GUY DOWSETT (1) and SAM LEGHORN winning on a score of 9 goals each, which is both their personal best weekend score. That now means that our winners total now stands at 8.

Guy with his first selection, started with Golden Goals back in the 2000/01 season on where he finished in 35th place out of 102 with a total of 269 goals. He had one shared win that season. For a while now, Guy has had two combinations and last season, both finished in the winning frame. His first selection finished in 24th place with 299 goals and selection two in 17th place with 305 goals. He picked up just two weekend win. This season, Guy has picked up just one blank score sheet with this combo, and 6th place is his highest in Week One. Clyde is his best team.

Sam started with us in the 2019/20 season and finished in the winning frame in 18th place with 304 goals out of 123. Last season, Sam finished in 83rd place out of 114 with a total of 250 goals. We had just two of our teams in action this week, which means that our top five remains about the same as last week. In the lead this week we still have EMMAF with a total of 29 goals. In second place we have DAVID BARRETT with 28 goals. In third place we still have HAYLEY ADKINS and BISH-BASH-BOSH (Keith Rattle) still both on a total of 25 goals. In fourth place we have our 2005/06 Champion, KEAMUS SETNA with 20 goals. In fifth place we still have GUY DOWSETT (1) but he is joined with our 2017/18 Champion, CHRIS BOLBERY. Both are with a total of 19 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

Back with a full weekend fixture, we had just 2 teams without a game over the weekend, with another 15 of our teams that did play failed to score any goals. It still looks like our teams are struggling to get going this season as the average weekend score was 4 goals, so well done if your teams picked up more than that. The highest score over the weekend was 6 goals, and they came from the Scottish League Two, where CLYDE have finally won their first league game, a whopping 6-0 away to Annan. With their biggest win to date, Clyde have now taken their goals tally up to 15 goals.

Clyde became our 29th voted Scottish team in the 2004/05 season, where they finished the season with a total of 41 goals. Their biggest end of season score came in the 2015/16 season with 60 goals. Last season they finished on a total of 59 goals. This is their 5th season with Golden Goals and over that time they have netted a total of 230 goals. That now gives them an average score of 46 goals per season to date. This season they have just 1 vote and they have picked up a total of three blank score sheets in 10 league/cup games played.

Top of the table LIVERPOOL have won their fourth consecutive league game with a very late goal, 1-0 away to Burnley. Liverpool are on a total of 9 goals. In second place we have ARSENAL after they won 3-0 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST and are now on a total of 9 goals. Forest picked up their second consecutive blank score sheet. AFC BOURNEMOUTH won 2-1 at home to BRIGHTON and are on a total of 6 goals. Brighton are on 10 goals. ASTON VILLA drew 0-0 away to Everton and picked up their fourth consecutive blank score sheet. Villa have yet to win a game. CRYSTAL PALACE drew 0-0 at home to SUNDERLAND, with both teams picking up their second blank of the season. NEWCASTLE have won their first league game 1-0 at home to WOLVES. Newcastle are on a total of 3 goals while Wolves still need a win this season, picked up their third blank of the season. WEST HAM lost 3-0 at home to London rivals TOTTENHAM and picked up their second blank of the season. Tottenham are now on a total of 8 goals. CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDDLESBROUGH are still top after they drew 2-2 at home to PRESTON NE and are on a total of 9 goals. Preston are on 9 goals. It’s 10 goals for LEICESTER CITY after they drew 2-2 away to Oxford Utd. Leicester have now scored in all of their 6 league/cup games. NORWICH drew 1-1 away to Coventry and picked up goal number 9. BRISTOL CITY won 3-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday. City are now on a total of 14 goals. BRIMINGHAM CITY lost 1-0 away to Stoke and picked up their third consecutive blank score sheet. WATFORD lost 1-0 at home to BLACKBURN ROVERS and picked up their second blank fo the season. Rovers are on a total of 6 goals. WREXHAM lost 3-1 at home to QPR and are on a total of 14 goals. They have now scored in all of their 7 league/cup games. After they had scored in all of their first six league/cup games, SOUTHAMPTON picked up their first blank of the season as they drew 0-0 at home to Portsmouth.

LEAGUE ONE

CARDIFF CITY are still top of the table after they drew 1-1 away to STOCKPORT COUNTY. Cardiff are on a total of 17 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. County are on a total of 16 goals. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN lost 3-1 away to Bradford and are on a total of 18 goals and have now scored in all of their 10 league/cup games. BLACKPOOL lost 1-0 away to Northampton and picked up their fourth blank score sheet. It’s 10 goals for LEYTON ORIENT after they drew 1-1 at home to BOLTON. Bolton are on 13 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. It’s also 10 goals for LUTON TOWN after they lost 3-2 at home to PLYMOUTH. Plymouth are now on a total of 15 goals. Bottom of the table PETERBOROUGH UNITED have won their first league game 2-1 at home against WYCOMBE. Peterborough are on a total of 7 goals while Wycombe picked up goal number 10.  

LEAGUE TWO

SWINDON TOWN are now top after they won 3-1 at home to Harrogate and are now on a total of 18 goals. GILLINGHAM have moved down to second place after they won 1-0 at home against NOTTS COUNTY. Gillingham are on a total of 13 goals and have now scored in all of their 9 league/cup games. County after a goal run of five games, picked up their second blank of the season. CHESTERFIELD drew 1-1 at home to MK DONS and are on a total of 12 goals. The Dons are on 13 goals. CREWE lost 2-1 at home to BARNET and are on a total of 13 goals. Barnet are on 10 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. WALSALL drew 1-1 away to Fleetwood and picked up goal number 8. BROMLEY lost 1-0 away to Oldham and after they had scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games, picked up their second blank of the season.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership CELTIC move to the top of the table for the first time this season, after they won 2-1 away to Kilmarnock. Celtic are on a total of 12 goals. HEARTS are now second after they won 2-0 away to RANGERS. Hearts are on a total of 29 goals and have kept their 100% scoring record after a total of 10 league/cup games. Rangers who have still yet to prove themselves, picked up their second consecutive blank score sheet. HIBERNIAN drew 3-3 at home to Dundee Utd and are now in third place. Hibs are now on a total of 10 goals and have now scored in all of their 5 league games.

In the Championship, AYR UNITED drew 1-1 at home to ROSS COUNTY. Both teams have still yet to win a game with Ayr on a total of 19 goals while County, are on a total of 18 goals.

In League One STENHOUSEMUIR are now top after they won 1-0 away to Kelty Hearts. Stenhousemuir are on a total of 9 goals. EAST FIFE won 2-1 at home against Queen of the South and are on a total of 13 goals. Bottom of the table COVE RANGERS are still unable to win after they lost 1-0 at home to CT Inverness. Rangers have picked up their fifth blank of the season and now two in a row.

In League Two DUMBARTON won 3-2 away to Forfar to take them up to third place in the league. Dumbarton are now on a total of 15 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 43rd Season are ROSS COUNTY. They won 8-0 at home against Edinburgh City in the first round group stages of the Scottish League Cup in Week One. 

DAVID BARRETT is at the top again this weekend for the sixth consecutive weekend as his teams picked up 5 goals at the weekend. David’s teams are Celtic, Hearts and Liverpool. He is now just 2 goals clear of Hayley Adkins in second place as she picked up a total of 6 goals from the weekend. Hayley’s teams are Hearts, Liverpool and Manchester City.

At the other end at 111 we still have ANN WELLARD with her third consecutive weekend. Ann picked up 2 goals from the weekend. Ann has Aston Villa, Celtic and Sheffield United.
