Week Thirty-Four

This weekends we only had the lower leagues in action in both England and Scotland. That means that we had just fourteen of our teams in action and out of  them three failed to score any goals.
The highest score for us came from the Scottish Championship where RANGERS won 4-1 at home to Cowdenbeath. It has been a very long time for Rangers to hit big and the four goals now brings them up to a total of 67 goals. This will not be their lowest score on record as they only picked up a total of 62 goals back in our second season of 1984/85. In their last two seasons they have scored over 100 goals with 107 and 120 last season.

LEAGUE ONE
BRISTOL CITY remained top here this weekend as they drew 2-2 at home to BARNSLEY. City are now on 82 goals while Barnsley are on 61. PRESTON are still second as they drew 1-1 away to Fleetwood.  Preston picked up goal number 78.  We still have three teams in the play-off  zone. MK Dons are their in fourth place followed by SHEFFIELD UNITED. They lost 2-1 at home against Crewe. United are on 75 goals this weekend. PETERBOROUGH lost 1-0 at home against COVENTRY. Coventry picked up goal number 46 while Borough picked up their 14th blank score sheet. After a two game dry spell for goals, LEYTON ORIENT won 3-1 at home to Port vale. Orient are now on 54 goals. SCUNTHORPE are on 57 goals as they drew 2-2 away to Notts County.

LEAGUE TWO
Our highest team here is in the play-off zone is BURY their game was abandoned against Southend at the weekend due to the weather. LUTON have moved out of the zone this weekend as they lost 2-1 away to Northampton.. Luton picked up goal number 54. PORTSMOUTH picked up their 17th blank of  the season and now they have failed in their last two games as they lost 2-0 at home to Shrewsbury.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In Scotland we know of Rangers win in the Championship but HEARTS also won 2-0 at home to Queen of South. Hearts are now on 88 goals. In League One, DUNFERMLINE lost 4-0 at home to Morton to pick up their 9th blank of the season while STENHOUSEMUIR lost 2-1 away to Airdrie but picked up goal number 38.

THE BEST THREE TEAMS ARE…

MK DONS (90) HEARTS (88) DERBY (84) Total of 262 goals.

THE WORST THREE TEAMS ARE…

QPR (31) WIGAN (36) STENHOUSEMUIR (38) Total of 105 goals.

QPR are still our worst team this weekend even though they no game all week. Rangers have played a total of 32 games and they have picked up a total of eleven blank score sheets to date.

We have just one team that has picked up the highest number of blank score sheets to date. They are now PORTSMOUTH and they have picked up a total of 17 blank score sheets after a total of 43 games to date.

HEARTS have picked up the highest score for this season with a 10-0 home win against Cowdenbeath in the league.

Manchester City had that record breaking end of season score of 137 goals last season. In Week thirty-four last season, City picked up three goals in midweek and one goal at the weekend. They are now on a total of 115 goals for the season after forty-one games played. They have had four blank score sheet’s and their highest score was seven goals against Norwich in the league.
This season they had no game at all this week. So City remains on a total of 71 goals this weekend and they have had a total of five blank score sheet after thirty-three games played. They are now 44 goals behind last seasons record run.

JOHN NICHOLLS is back at number 106 and that is now his 9th weekend there but he has moved up our Losers League. John has over taken Ian Etheridge and Freda Hilliers scores of 156 goals scored in 1999/00 and 1987/88 and that now means that John  is in 28th place in our Losers League. Johns combination is Bristol City, Everton and Wigan. He has had a total of just two blank score sheets all season to date.

Here is our top ten this week and not much has changed once again
