Week Thirty-Seven

It’s all change at the top as RICHARD WILLIAMS moves back to the top after picking up a total of seven goals for the week. This is now his 15th week over the season and that will be this seasons record as no-one can beat that now. The good news, at last, is that Richard has started to move up the Champions table in 32nd place as he has now beaten Phil Mockler's score of 263 goals scored in the 1989/90 Season. Richard’s combination is Hibernian, Manchester City  and Rangers. BOB SOPER moved back down to second place and a goal behind as his combination picked him up a total of six goals at the weekend coming from Arsenal, Manchester City and Rangers.

At the other end, JOHN NICHOLLS combination managed to pick him up a total of five goals this week all from the weekend.  They came from Arsenal and Bolton with one each while Newcastle picked him three. Although John has been at 119 for a twenty-seven weeks this season the good news is that this will not be the lowest score with Golden Goals as his total of 150 goals now moves him up the loser’s league to 32nd place. John has beaten our pub team R.U.Shaw of 146 goals in our 1995/95 Season.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Over under half of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals this week. The highest score to be picked up this week was seven goals and they all went to PETER PORTER who now has 66 midweek goals. They all came from Birghton’s two league games. Peter’s other teams are Arsenal and Celtic.
The race to the £40 Midweek Jackpot has not had much of a change around but DANIEL GOODSON is just ten goals away from the cash and still seven goals in front with a new total of 90 goals. Middlesbrough once again picked him up the two goals His other teams are Manchester City and Rangers. In second place we still have CRAIG EVANS now on 83 goals while remaining in third place with 82 goals we have CHRIS SETFORD. In fourth place down from three is JAMES HUNTER with 81 goals. In fifth place we still have ADRIAN BEW, TONY KING and DAVID STAINS all on 79 goals. In joint sixth place all on 78 goals we still have MICK LIDDLE, NATHAN TREADWELL and BENJAMIN WAYMARK they are now joined with JOHN DAVIES who fell down from four last week.

This weekend we had three winners to share the cash on a total of 8 goals. But one of the winners picked up his second win of the season and that went to CHRIS BOOM.  The other two winners picked up their first win which now takes our winners total to the magic 50. They are ARTHUR BROWN and NATHAN TREADWELL.
Chris won his first lot of cash in week twenty-one which was the Christmas Jackpot of £10. Since then Chris has picked up just one more blank score sheet to take his weekend blank score sheets to three.  Although he is back up to 16th place, fourth is his best from week twenty-seven.
Arthur started with the competition way back in our 1995/96 Season. Last season he finished in 42nd place with a total of 264 goals and one shared weekend win. This season, Arthur has only picked up two blank score sheets to date and four is his highest position for this season.
Nathan joined us this season and he has had a total of four weekend blank score sheets. Manchester City is his best team and 25 is his highest in week eighteen. Our winners combinations are

Chris  CELTIC 2, LEYTON ORIENT 3, MANCHESTER CITY 3
Arthur  CELTIC 2, LUTON 3, MANCHESTER CITY 3
Nathan  MANCHESTER CITY 3, MIDDLESBROUGH 2, SHEFFIELD UNITED 3

WEEKEND RESULTS
We did not have a very good weekend for goals as the weekend average score fell down again to just 4 goals. The reason is simple. We had fifteen teams that failed to score any goals and another seven that had no game at all over the weekend.
The highest score of the weekend goes to PETERBOROUGH from League One. They beat Colchester 4-1 away and that takes their goals total to 86 and they remain our fourth best team of the season this week. Peterborough hold the second highest score with Golden Goals with their 129 goals scored in the 2010/11 Season.
