MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We did not
have any of our teams in action in midweek so the race for the cash remains the
same as last weeks.
JOHN FILTNESS remains in the lead
this week with a total of 33 goals. His teams are Brighton Colchester and Rangers.
In Second place is still JAMIE WOOD with
30 goals. In Third place we have TONY
KING on 29 goals while in fourth place on 28 goals we have CHRIS SETFORD. In joint fifth place
all on 27 goals we have DAVID SMITHERS, KEITH
THOMSON and RICKY WOOD. In sixth
place we have DOUG MORBEY on a total
of 26 goals.
Due to the
Internationals being played over the weekend, we only had seventeen of our
teams in action, which came from the English Leagues One and Two. Out of them
only one failed to score any goals.
The Highest
score over the weekend was four goals and they came from LUTON in League Two. They
beat Wycombe 4-1 at home which now takes their goals tally to 17 goals with
their biggest win of the season.
Luton
became our second most voted team in our very first season of 1983/84. In that
season they finished on a total of 61 goals. We had to wait till the 2001/02
Season before they picked up their highest score of 98 goals. Last season they
finished on 69 goals. This season we see Luton in their 14th season
with Golden
Goals and they have just two votes. Over the years they have netted a
total of 983 goals which gives them an average score of 70 goals per season.
BRADFORD are now in second in the league
after they drew 1-1 away to MILLWALL. Bradford are now on a total of 8 goals while Millwall
picked up goal number 17 and they keep their 100% scoring record after eight
games which now see’s them in fourth place in the league table. SOUTHEND
picked up their 7th goal of the season as they drew 1-1 away to
Bolton and OLDHAM are on 6 goals as they lost 3-2 at home to Shrewsbury.
PETERBOROUGH drew 2-2 at home to Swindon and that gives them a total of
17 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED won 2-1 away to GILLINGHAM after going
a goal down to take their goals tally to 7 while Gillingham are on 15 goals.
It’s 12 goals now for the MK DONS but they lost 3-2 away to Northampton.
LUTON are back on top here after their
biggest win of the season with PLYMOUTH in third place after they won
1-0 at home against Cheltenham. Plymouth take their goals total to 6 goals. PORTSMOUTH
are in fourth place as they win 3-0 at home to Crawley. Portsmouth are now on 9
goals. It’s 11 for DONCASTER now as they lost 2-1 away to Crewe while ACCRINGTON
STANLEY drew 1-1 away to Carlisle and that was their 9th goal of
the season. COLCHESTER picked up another two goals in their game after
they lost 3-2 at home to Exeter to take their goals tally to 10. It’s 11 for LEYTON
ORIENT as they win 2-1 away to Morecombe. YEOVIL was the only
team not to pick up any goals this weekend as they lost 3-0 at home to
Blackpool. Yeovil picked up their fourth blank score sheet of the season and
they have now scored just one goal in their last five games.
RANGERS (21)
St JOHNSTONE (19) MILLWALL (17) Total of 57 goals
OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE
SOUTHAMPTON
(2) DERBY (3) LEICESTER CITY (3) Total of 8 goal
Our Best
team is RANGERS
after they have scored in all of their nine League
and Cup games played and netting a total of 21 goals which gives them an
average score of two goals per game.
Our worst
teams are CARDIFF,
DERBY, OLDHAM, PETERHEAD and YEOVIL this weekend. All five teams have picked up a
total of four blank score sheets each.
Our highest
goal scorers in our 34th Season are NORWICH who won 6-1 at home to Coventry in the EFL League Cup Second Round in week four.
KELLIE STRATTON becomes our fourth player to hit the top slot this season and the second
lady to do so in her very first season with Golden Goals. Kellie
picked up just two goals this weekend and they came from Peterborough. Her
other two teams are Manchester City and Rangers. The two goals keeps Kellie
with a 100% scoring record for the weekends.
At the other end at 136 we still have
KATHY SOMERVILLE even though she had
two of her teams in action over the
weekend but she only picked up two goals from Oldham as Yeovil failed to score
at the weekend. Her teams are Oldham, Tottenham and Yeovil.
