Week Eight

Here we are with Week Eight of the competition and we had our third lady winner and it goes to SAM LEGHORN who won on a score of 12 goals, which is our second best score of the season. Sam is our eleventh winner of the season and has won the full £5 weekend cash prize money.

Sam started with us back in the 2019/20 Season on where she finished in the winning frame in 18th place with a total of 304 goals. Last season Sam finished in 46th place with 278 goals. This season Sam has picked up two blank score sheets at the weekend and this is the highest to date that Sam has been this season. Manchester City is her best team. Her winning teams are 

ARSENAL 3, MANCHESTER CITY 3, TOTTENHAM 6 

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

It was RICK WOOD our 2007/08 Champion who picked up the most number of goals in midweek with six. They came from Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday. His third team is Manchester City. The six goals has now taken Ricky in to the lead with a total of 27 goals. HAYLEY ADKINS drops down to second place still with a total of 26 goals. In third place is now STEVE AYRES with NICK HORTON both on a total of 25 goals. Down to fourth place with 24 goals we have GUY DOWSETT (1). In fifth place we now have,  MARK GREGORY, LOUIE HARRINGTON and TERENCE WARWICK all on a total of 23 goals. Down to sixth place we have PETER PORTER and BOB SOPER with 22 goals each. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had most of our teams back in action with eight that had no game over the weekend and another nine teams that failed to score any goals. Dispite that this weekends average score came in at 4 goals.

The highest score that we had was six goals and they came from LINCOLN CITY and TOTTENHAM. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

ARSENAL are back at the top of the table after they won 3-0 away to Brentford. Arsenal are now on a total of 17 goals and they have now scored in all of their first seven league games. In second place is MANCHESTER CITY who won 3-0 away to Wolves. City are now on a total of 23 goals and have kept their 100% scoring record going after seven games. NEWCASTLE drew 1-1 at home to BOURNEMOUTH and are on a total of 10 goals. Bournemouth are on 8 goals. TOTTENHAM scored their highest result of the season as they won 6-2 at home to LEICESTER CITY. Tottenham have taken their goals tally up to 18 goals and have also kept their 100% scoring record. Leicester are on 10 goals. EVERTON won 1-0 at home to WEST HAM and that is their 6th goal of the season while West Ham picked up their 4th blank of the season. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

SHEFFIELD UNITED are still top here after they won 2-0 away to Preston. United are on a total of 19 goals and have now scored in all of their last nine games. NORWICH are in second place as they drew 1-1 at home to WEST BROM. Norwich are on a total of 20 goals and they have extended their goal run to eleven games. West Brom are on 16 goals. BURNLEY won 2-1 at home against Bristol City and they are on a total of 18 goals and a goal run of eight games. HUDDERSFIELD won their second league game 1-0 at home to Cardiff. Huddersfield are on 10 goals. LUTON won 2-0 at home against Blackburn and they have taken their goals tally to 13 goals and a goal run of six games. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 0-0 at home to Rotherham and that is their 3rd blank of the season. SWANSEA picked up their biggest win of the season as they won 3-0 at home to Hull. Swansea are now on a total of 12 goals. WATFORD drew 2-2 at home to SUNDERLAND and thye are now on a total of 11 goals while Sunderland are on 16. READING won 1-0 away to Wigan and they are on a total of 11 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE

IPSWICH are top here after they drew 2-2 away to SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Ipswich have taken their goals tally to 18 and a goal run of seven games. Wednesday are on a total of 22. PETERBOROUGH picked up their 4th blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to Bolton. LINCOLN CITY with their biggest result of the season won 6-3 away to BRISTOL ROVERS. Lincoln are now on a total of 19 goals while Rovers are now on a total of 13. DERBY won 2-1 at home against Wycombe and have taken their goals total to 12. CHARLTON picked up yet another single goal in their 1-1 away draw with Fleetwood. Charlton are on a total of 15 goals and a goal run of seven games. It’s 10 goals for FOREST GREEN as they lost 2-1 at home to Morecambe. OXFORD UTD lost 2-1 at home to MK DONS and they are on a total of 10 goals while MK Dons after a two game dry spell are now on a total of 12 goals. PLYMOUTH drew 2-2 away to Portsmouth and they have taken their goals tally to 16 and a goal run of seven games. 

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have in this league is BRADFORD CITY in fifth place. They won 3-0 at home to Stevenage and they are now on a total of 17 goals. AFC WIMBLEDON lost 2-1 away to Carlisle and that is goal number 9 for them. CRAWLEY TOWN lost 1-0 away to Crewe and that is blank number five for them. It’s 10 goals for SWINDON as they win 1-0 away to Doncaster. It’s eight blank score sheets for GILLINGHAM as they lost 2-0 at home to MANSFIELD who are now on a total of 15 goals. SALFORD CITY lost 1-0 at home to Tranmere and that is their 2nd blank of the season after a goal run of seven games. STOCKPORT drew 0-0 at home to Harrogate and that is their 2nd blank of the season. SUTTON UTD won 2-0 at home against Hartlepool and they are on a total of 11 goals. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In the Premiership top of the table CELTIC after a goal run of seven games, have picked up their 1st blank of the season as they went down 2-0 away to St Mirren. RANGERS in second place won 2-1 at home to Dundee Utd. Rangers are on a total of 19 goals. HEARTS are now in third place after they won 3-0 away to Motherwell. Hearts who failed to score in their previous two games, are now on a total of 13 goals. HIBERNIAN won 3-1 at home to ABERDEEN. Hibs are now on a total of 19 goals while Aberdeen hit goal number 30 and a goal run of seven games.

In League One ALLOA won 2-1 at home to Montrose and they are on a total of 22 goals. KELTY HEARTS lost 2-1 away to Peterhead. Kelty are on a total of 7 goals.

In League Two BONNYRIGG ROSE lost 1-0 away to Dumbarton and thatis their 3rd blank of the season and now two in a row. They have now scored just one goal in their last four games. STENHOUSEMUIR drew 3-3 at home to Elgin City and they have now taken their goals tally to 18goals.

Our WORST three teams are 

WEST HAM (3) GILLINGHAM (4) EVERTON (6) Total of 13 goals 

Our best performing team are now NORWICH as they have now scored in all of their last eleven league/cup games played. They have a total of 20 goals. That gives them an average score of 1.6 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM this weekend as they have picked up eight blank score sheets out of eleven League/Cup games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL who won 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five.

MARK GREGORY is now in his third weekend at the top after he picked up a total of 7 goals form the week. Mark’s teams are Celtic, Manchester City and Norwich.  Grant Phillips has moved into second place this week with his teams of  Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday and Tottenham.

At the other end at 108 we still have MANDY WRIGHT who has now been there for six weeks. Mandy’s teams picked her up a total of 4 goals all coming from the weekend. Her teams are Bournemouth, Swansea and West Ham.

Not a very exciting week  for football but iut has changed the top ten.
