In Week Forty-Two of the competition and we are still in to injury time here at Golden Goals as the goals keep coming in. We had two players that picked up the most number of goals with 7 each. They are MICHAEL FISHER with Chelsea 2, Manchester City 3 and Manchester United 2. ROBERT FULLER with Chelsea 2, Manchester City 3 and Sunderland 2. We had 11 players that failed to get any goals this weekend although five of them did pick up some midweek goals. 100
MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Just under half of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals, but it is still JAMES BLYTH out in front with a total of 107. His teams are Ipswich, Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday. We still have just three players that have reached 100 goals. In second place we still have NICK HORTON and CHRIS NUNN now with a total of 101 goals each. In third place we still have TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion but now with TIM WOOD both with a total of 99 goals. In fourth place we have SAMUEL STEPHENS with a total of 98 goals. In fifth place with 97 goals we have CHRIS DICKER and GEOFF CARTHY. In sixth place this week we still have CHRIS BOLBERY our 2017/18 Champion and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion and coming back in KEITH THOMSON all with a total of 96 goals.
WEEKEND RESULTS
We only had just 26 of our teams in action and out of the the ones that did play, 9 failed to score any goals. With Arsenal and Celtic who failed to score this weekend, it has effected our winning frame this week. We did not have a bad weekend as we had three teams that picked up the highest score with 3 goals each. They are BRIGHTON, MANCHESTER CITY and RANGERS.
PREMIER LEAGUE
MANCHESTER CITY are still top after they won 3-0 away to EVERTON. City still have a game in hand as they take their goals total to 114 and a goal run of 17 games. Everton picked up their 14th blank score sheet. After a goal run of 15 games, ARSENAL lost 3-0 at home to BRIGHTON to pick up their 4th blank of the season. Arsenal are now four points behind City. Brighton are now on a total of 85 goals. NEWCASTLE are still third after they drew 2-2 away to LEEDS UNITED and have taken their goals total to 72. Leeds are on a total of 59 goals and a goal run of 11 games. After they failed to score in their last two games, MANCHESTER UNITED are still in fourth place after they won 2-0 at home against Wolves. United are on a total of 79 goals. Liverpool in fifth place even though they had no game over the weekend. After they had failed to score in their previous two games, ASTON VILLA won 2-1 at home to TOTTENHAM and are on a total of 55 goals while Tottenham are on 69 and a goal run of 10 games. CHELSEA drew 2-2 at home to Nottingham Forest and are on a total of 36 goals. It’s 40 goals for CRYSTAL PALACE after they won 2-0 at home to AFC BOURNEMOUTH. Bournemouth picked up their 17th blank of the season. FULHAM won 2-0 away to Southampton and they are on a total of 61 goals. WEST HAM lost 2-0 away to Brentford and picked up their 13th blank of the season.
CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY-OFFS
In their first leg games, SUNDERLAND won their first game 2-1 at home against LUTON TOWN. Sunderland are on a total of 75 goals while Luton hit goal number 65. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 0-0 away to Coventry and that is their 10th blank of the season.
LEAGUE TWO PLAY-OFFS
SALFORD CITY won 1-0 at home to STOCKPORT COUNTY and are on a total of 74 goals while Stockport after a goal run of 11 games, picked up their 10th blank of the season. BRADFORD CITY won their first leg 1-0 at home to Carlisle Utd and they are on a total of 64 goals.
SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS
In the Premiership Champions CELTIC lost their second league game of the season, 3-0 away to their rivals RANGERS. Celtic after a goal run of 34 league/cup games, it all comes to an end with their second blank of the season. Rangers have taken their goals total to 99 goals. ABERDEEN in third place drew 0-0 at home to HIBERNIAN in fifth place. Aberdeen have now picked up their 10th blank of the season and now two games in a row. Hibernian picked up their 9th blank score sheet after a goal run of 12 games. HEARTS in fourth place drew 2-2 away to St Mirren and they are on a total of 63 goals.
In the League One Play-offs ALLOA lost their second leg game 5-2 away to Hamilton and go out 5-3 on aggregate. Alloa finished the season on a total of 68 goals.

Our best performing team are now MANCHESTER CITY as they have now scored in all of their last 17 league/cup games played. They have a total of 114 goals. That gives them an average score of 2.6 goals per game.
Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM as they have picked up a total of 24 blank score sheets out of their 54 League/Cup games played.
Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL winning 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five.
JAMES BLYTH has remained at the top this weekend, after picking up a total of just 3 goals this week. This is his third weekend there and now four over the season. His teams are Ipswich, Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday. James is still climbing up our Champions League and is now in 13th place this week. He has beaten two ladies this week and they are Janice Conway with 318 goals from the 2000/01 Season and Alice Stubbs 318 goals from the 2012/13 Season. Our 2010/11 Champion Tony Guy with combo two, is still in second place. Tony did not pick up any goals this week from Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday and he is now 9 goals behind James.
At the other end at 108 we now have JOHN NICHOLLS back down there. John picked up a total of 7 goals for the week. John has now been at 108 for a total of 4 weeks over the season. John’s teams are Bristol Rovers, Everton and Leeds United. John is currently in 36th place in our Loser’s League.
Not much of a change in the top ten this weekend.
