Week Three

Here we are with Week Three of the competition and this weekend we had our third winner of the season. Our winner was CHRIS NUNN who won on a score of just 9 goals. Chris has won himself the full £5 this weekend. Chris started with Golden Goals back in the 1992/93 Season on where he finished in 39th place with a total of 213 goals. He picked up two weekend wins then. I thank him for his loyal support over the years. Last season Chris finished in 30th place with a total of 284 goals. This season he has picked up his highest weekend score. His best team is Wrexham picking up a total of 9 goals out of his total of 17. His teams for this season are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Here is how the race for our 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot worth a total of £25 this season is now looking. The prize money will go to the first person to reach 100 goals from their three teams. We have had a couple of more players that have started their race for the cash this week. In the lead after three weeks of football we still have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) out in front with a total of 25 goals. In second place we still have our 2015/16 Champion RICHARD WILLIAMS with 24 goals. In third place with 14 goals we still have MIKE LIDDLE. In fourth place is DAVID BARRETT and GUY DOWSETT (2) both with 10 goals. In fifth place all with 9 goals we have CHRIS BOLBERY, BAILEY MORAN and SAMUEL STEPHENS this week.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had six of our teams with no game over the weekend with another eleven of our teams that failed to score any goals. So that means that our weekend the average score was just 4 goals down from five last weekend. So if your combination picked up more than that, then you have done very well this weekend. he Highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from League Two where WERXHAM coming back in to the football league, drew 5-5 at home to Swindon Town. With their biggest result of the season to date, Wrexham are now on a total of 9 goals. They have a total of 9 votes this season. Wrexham became our 99th English team back in 2002/03 Season on where they finished on a total of 84 goals which is their highest end of season score. This is their third season with Golden Goals and the last time that we had them was in the 2005/06 Season. They finished that season on a total of 62 goals. Over the three season’s they have netted a total of 155 goals which gives them an average score of 51 goals per season to date.

PREMIER LEAGUE

So the Premier League played their second league game of the season and most of them had a good start. BRIGHTON are now in top place after they won 4-1 away to Wolves. Brighton have now scored 8 goals in their two league games. MANCHESTER CITY have also won both their two opening games. They won just 1-0 at home to NEWCASTLE. City now in second place, are on a total of 4 goals while Newcastle picked up their first blank of the season. FULHAM lost 3-0 at home to Brentford and that is also their first blank score sheet. LIVERPOOL won their first league game 3-1 at home to BOURNEMOUTH. With their biggest win to date, Liverpool are now on a total of 4 goals while Bournemouth picked up their 2nd. TOTTENHAM won 2-0 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED and they are on a total of 4 goals as United picked up their very first blank of the season. ASTON VILLA picked up their biggest result so far as they win 4-0 at home against Everton. Villa are now on a total of 5 goals. WEST HAM beat London rivals CHELSEA 3-1 at home which is their biggest result to date. West Ham are now on a total of 4 goals while Chelsea are on 2.

CHAMPIONSHIP

After three games now, IPSWICH TOWN are top here with three wins out of three after they won 1-0 away to QPR. Ipswich are on a total of 6 goals. LEICESTER CITY are still in second place after they won their third game,  2-1 at home to Cardiff. Leicester are on a total of 7 goals. PLYMOUTH lost 2-1 at home to SOUTHAMPTON. Plymouth are on a total of 6 goals while Southampton are on 9 goals. BRISTOL CITY lost 1-0 at home to Birmingham and that is their first blank of the season. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 1-1 at home to Huddersfield and are on a total of 4 goals. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY lost 1-0 at home to Preston and that is their first blank of the season. STOKE won 1-0 at home to Watford and picked up goal number seven. SUNDERLAND won 2-1 at home to Rotherham and are now on a total of 5 goals. SWANSEA drew 1-1 at home to Coventry and they are on a total of 7 goals. NORWICH won 3-1 at home to Millwall ans they have taken their goals tally to 10 goals.

LEAGUE ONE

PETERBOROUGH are our highest team here now in third place after they lost 1-0 away to Northampton. That is Borough’s first blank of the season after a goal run of four league/cup games. BARNSLEY lost 3-1 at home to Oxford Utd and have taken their goals total to 12 goals. BLACKPOOL drew 0-0 at home to Leyton Orient and that is their third blank score sheet and now three in a row. BRISTOL ROVERS lost 2-0 away to Cambridge Utd and that is their second blank score sheet. CHARLTON lost 3-2 at home to Port Vale and they are on a total of 5 goals. DERBY won 1-0 at home to Fleetwood and they are on a total of 6 goals. READING won 2-0 at home to Stevenage and are on a total of 7 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have here are MK DONS down in second place. They won 3-2 away to Colchester. The dons are on a total of 10 goals. AFC WIMBLEDON are in third place after they picked up their biggest win of the season by winning 3-0 away to SUTTON UNITED. Wimbledon are on a total of 8 goals while Sutton picked up their second blank score sheet and now two in a row. NOTTS COUNTY won 3-1 away to Doncaster and are now on a total of 7 goals. SALFORD CITY also picked up their biggest win to date, 4-3 away to Tranmere. Salford have taken their goals tally to 9.  

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Scottish League Cup second round, we had a total of 5 of our Scottish teams in action. Out of them 5 have made it through to the second round including Aberdeen. RANGERS are through after they won 2-1 at home against Morton. Rangers are on a total of 6 goals. ROSS COUNTY will be there after they drew 3-3 away to Airdrie after the full 90 minutes and then won 4-3 after extra time. County are now on a total of 21 goals and have now scored in all of their of seven league/cup games. HIBERNIAN won 2-1 at home to Raith Rovers. Hibs are on a total of 5 goals. CELTIC are out of the cup after they lost 1-0 away to KILMARNOCK. Kilmarnock are on a total of 11 goals while Celtic pick up their first blank of the season.

In League One the highest team with have here are KELTY HEARTS in fourth place. They won 2-1 at home to Alloa. Kelty have taken their goals total to 15 goals. COVE RANGERS won 3-0 away to Montrose and they are now on a total of 15 goals.

In League Two, CLYDE lost 2-1 at home to Peterhead and picked up their 6th goal of the season. STENHOUSEMUIR won 2-1 away to EAST FIFE.  Stenhousemuir are on a total of 6 goals after they had failed to score in their last two games. East Fife picked up their fifth blank of the season and now just one goal in their last five games.

Our WORST three teams are

Our Best performing team is ROSS COUNTY after they have now scored in all of their seven league/cup games. They have a total of 21 goals which gives them an average score of 3 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is EAST FIFE this weekend as they have picked up five blank score sheets in their 7 league/cup games.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 41st Season are BARNSLEY. They won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One. 

RICHARD WILLIAMS our 2015/16 Champion is at the top for his second weekend after he picked up up just 5 goals from the weekend. Richards teams are Falkirk, Manchester City and Ross County.  He is now just 2 goals clear of Charlie Farley (John Wood) in second place with Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir.

At the other end at 110 we still have RYAN FC (Richard Williams) who picked up just 4 goals for the week. Ryan FC has Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.
