Week Six

In Week Six of the competition, we had our very first Rollover of the season worth £10 this weekend and it was shared by 2 players. This now brings our winners total to 6. They are BABARA BARNES (2) and MARK LIPMAN wining on a score of just 7 goals each.

Barbara started with Golden Goals back in the 2000/01 season and finished in 85th place out of 102 players with a total of 232 goals. Last season Barbara had two combinations. Her first one finished in 106th place out of 110 with a total of 244 goals. Her second combo finished in 88th place with 275 goals. Barbara picked up 2 weekend wins. This season she has won on her personal best weekend score and has picked up just 1 blank weekend score sheet. Her best team is Falkirk.

Mark stated in the 2022/23 season and finished in the winning frame in 11th place on a total of 306 goals. He had one shared weekend win. Last season he finished in 29th place with 304 goals. This season he has picked up just 1 blank weekend score sheet with Celtic being his best team. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

There was a slight change in the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot once again this week, as we only had two of our teams in action. Remaining in the lead we have DAVID BARRETT with a total of 24 goals. In second place we still have BARBARA BARNES (2) with 18 goals. In third place with 17 goals we still have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) In fourth place with 15 goals we still have GUY DOWSETT (1) and now with PHIL COLLINS, and in fifth place GUY DOWSETT (2) with a total of 14 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We are back to a full league fixture this weekend and we had 4 of our teams without a game over the weekend. We had another 16 of our teams that failed to score any goals. This means that our weekends average score was just 3 goals which was not what we wanted. Fingers crossed for next weekend. The Highest score over the weekend was 4 goals and we had two of our teams that picked them up. They where HUDDERSFIELD and NOTTS COUNTY. Lets get on with the results to see how your teams have performed over the weekend.

PREMIER LEAGUE

MANCHESTER CITY have now won all 4 league games to stay top as they win 2-1 at home to Brentford, after going a goal down. City are on a total of 11 goals. SOUTHAMPTON have still yet to win a game as they lost 3-0 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED. Southampton picked up their third blank of the season while United picked up their biggest result to date. United are now on a total of 5 goals. IPSWICH TOWN drew 0-0 away to Brighton and picked up their second blank score sheet. CRYSTAL PALACE drew 2-2 at home to LEICESTER CITY and are on a total of 8 goals while City are on 9 goals. WEST HAM drew 1-1 away to Fulham with a very late goals and are on a total of 6 goals and have now scored in all of their 5 games played. LIVERPOOL picked up their first blank of the season after they lost 1-0 at home to Nottingham Forest. ASTON VILLA picked up their biggest result of the season as they win 3-2 at home to Everton. Villa are now on a total of 7 goals.  AFC BOURNEMOUTH lost 1-0 at home to CHELSEA and have now had a total of 2 blank score sheets. Chelsea are on a total of 8 goals. In the north London derby, TOTTENHAM lost 1-0 at home against ARSENAL and picked up their first blank of the season. Arsenal are on a total of 6 goals. NEWCSASTLE won 2-1 away to Wolves and are on a total of 7 goals and have scored in all of their 5 league/cup games.

CHAMPIONSHIP

LEEDS UNITED picked up their third blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 at home to BURNLEY. Burnley are on 11 goals.MILLWALL lost 1-0 at home to LUTON TOWN and picked up their third blank of the season. Luton are on a total of 4 goals. OXFORD UNITED won 1-0 at home against Stoke and are on a total of 11 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 1-1 at home to PRESTON NE.  Brough are on a total of 9 goals while Preston are on 10 goals. After they had failed to score in their last 2 league games, SWANSEA CITY won 1-0 at home to NORWICH CITY and are on a total of 8 goals. Norwich picked up their third blank of the season. PORTSMOUTH lost 3-0 at home to WBA and picked up their third blank score sheet.

LEAGUE ONE

Wrexham are still top of the table winning 4 of their five league games played even though they had no game this weekend. HUDDERSFIELD picked up their biggest result so far as they win 4-0 away to BOLTON. Huddersfield have taken their goals tally to15 goals and have now scored in all of their 7 league/cup games. Bolton picked up their fourth blank score sheet and now 2 in a row. PETERBOROUGH drew 1-1 at home to Lincoln City and are on a total of 7 goals. CHARLTON won 1-0 away to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 6 goals. After a goal run of 7 league/cup games, BARNSLEY picked up their first blank score sheet after they lost 3-0 away to Stevenage.

LEAGUE TWO

NOTTS COUNTY have moved to the top after they won 4-2 away to new boys BROMLEY. Rovers are now on 17 goals and have now in all of their last 6 league games. Bromley have extended their goal run to 7 league/cup games and are on a total of 10 goals. AFC WIMBLEDON won 3-0 at home to MK DONS. Wimbledon are now on a total of 13 goals while the Dons picked up their fourth blank of the season. CHESTERFIELD lost 1-0 away to Port Vale and picked up their second blank of the season.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership CELTIC have now won their 5th league game at home, against HEARTS winning 2-0. Celtic are now on a total of 17 goals and have now scored in all of their 6 league/cup games. Hearts picked up their fourth blank of the season and now 2 in a row. RANGERS won 1-0 away to Dundee Utd and are on a total of 11 goals. After they had failed to score in their last 3 league games, ROSS COUNTY won their very first league game 2-0 at home against DUNDEE. County are on a total of 13 goals. Dundee after a goals run of 9 league/cup games, picked up their first blank of the season. KILMARNOCK have still yet to win a league game, drew 2-2 away to St Mirren and are on a total of 3 goals. 

In the Championship FALKIRK are now top of the table and have now won all 5 league games as they win 2-0 away to Airdrieonian. Falkirk have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games and are on a total of 24 goals.

In League One COVE RANGERS picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 3-1 away to Kelty Hearts. Rangers are on a total of 12 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 3-0 away to Montrose and picked up their fifth blank of the season.

In League Two, PETERHEAD are still top of the table after they won 2-1 at home to Stirling and are now on  a total of 15 goals. EAST FIFE are in second place after they lost 2-1 away to  Stranraer. East Fife are now on a total of 24 goals and a goal run of 8 league/cup games. CLYDE drew 1-1 at home against Edinburgh City and picked up their 13th goal of the season.

Our best performing team is now FALKIRK after they have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. They have a total of 24 goals which gives them an average score of 2.4 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is STENHOUSEMUIR this weekend after they picked up 5th blank score sheet from 10 league/cup games. They have a total of 15 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring team in our 42nd Season are DUNDEE. They won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.

DAVID BARRETT is at the top for his sixth consecutive weekend even though he picked up just 3 goals this weekend. David’s teams are Burnley, Dundee and Manchester City. He lead has been cut down to 8 goals clear of  GUY DOWSETT (2) as he picked up 4 goals this weekend. His teams are  Arsenal, Celtic, and East Fife.

At the other end at 114 we now have ALFIE DIMMOCK has become our fourth player to reach rock bottom this season, Alfie picked up just 1 goal over the weekend. His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and Leeds United.

Week Five

In Week Five of the competition, this weekend due to the Internationals being played, there were no prize money to win this weekend. So next weekend, we will have our first Rollover of the season worth £10.  

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

There was no change in the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot again this week, as we only had one of our teams in action. Remaining in the lead we have DAVID BARRETT with a total of 24 goals. In second place we still have BARBARA BARNES (2) with 18 goals. In third place with 17 goals we still have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) In fourth place with 15 goals we still have GUY DOWSETT (1) and in fifth place GUY DOWSETT (2) with a total of 14 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just 8 of our teams in action over the weekend, due to the International games being played. This means that our weekends average score was a flat zero.

The Highest score over the weekend was 3 goals and they came from League One where WREXHAM won 3-0 at home against  Shrewsbury Town. They are now on a total of 13 goals.

Wrexham became our 99th voted English team to join Golden Goals. That was back in our 2002/03 Season and they finished with a total of 84 goals. Their highest end of season score came last season with a total of 93 goals. This is their 4th season with us and over the years they have now netted a total of 252 goals. This now gives them an average score of 63 goals per season to date. They have picked up just one blank score sheet out of their 6 league/cup games played to date. They have just 4 votes this season. Wrexham are now top of the table winning 4 of their five league games played. BARNSLEY won 2-1 at home Bristol Rovers and are now on a total of 12 goals. They have extended their goal run to 7 league/cup games. CHARLTON drew 1-1 at home to Rotherham and picked up their 5th goal of the season.

LEAGUE TWO

DONCASTER ROVERS move to the top after they won 1-0 at home to Gillingham. Rovers are now on 12 goals and have now won 4 of their five league games. It’s 10 goals for CHESTERFIELD after they won 2-1 at home against Grimsby Town. BROMLEY drew 1-1 away to Colchester Utd and are on a total of 8 goals and have extended their goal run to 6 league/cup games. MK DONS have won their second league game 1-0 at home to Walsall. The Dons are on a total of 5 goals. NOTTS COUNTY won 2-0 at home to Accrington Stanley and are on a total of 13 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 games.

Not A Great Start For MK DONS

In League Two MK DONS lost 1-0 away to Salford City and picked up their third blank of the season. The Dons have now lost 3 of their four league games.

Week Four

In Week Four of the competition, this weekend we had our 4th winner of the season to pick up the full £5 weekend prize money. Our winner was GUY DOWESTT (2) who won on a score of 9 goals.

Guy started with Golden Goals back in the 2000/01 Season on where he finished the season in 35th place with a total of 269 goals. He had one shared weekend win. Last season Guy finished in the winning frame in 15th place with his second combination with 301 goals and also in 24th place with his first combination on 294 goals. He also picked up 2 weekend wins. This season Guy remains in second place with his personal best score for the second weekend running. His teams for this season are

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had another full weekend fixture but it’s was not a high scoring weekend. We had just 2 teams with no game over the weekend with another 9 of our teams that failed to score any goals. So for our weekends average score went back down to 5 goals. So if your combination picked up more than that, then you have done very well this weekend. 

The Highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from the Scottish League One where STENHOUSEMUIR  picked up their biggest result to date, winning 5-1 at home to Anna. Stenhousemuir are now on a total of 15 goals. 

Stenhousemuir became our 8th voted Scottish team to join Golden Goals. In their first season of 1985/96 they finished on a goals total of 56.  Their highest end of season score is 72 goals in the 2012/14 Season. Last season they finished on a total of 53 goals. This is their 8th Season with us and over the years they have scored a total of 951 goals. This gives them an average score of 52.8 goals per season to date. They have had a total of 4 blank score sheet out of their 9 league/cup games played this season. The Premier League have now played their 3rd game of the season. MANCHESTER CITY have now won all three as they win 3-1 away to WEST HAM and are now on a total of 9 goals, while West Ham hit goal number 5. ARSENAL drew 1-1 at home against Brighton and are on a total of 5 goals. SOUTHAMPTON have yet to win a game as they lost 3-1 away to Brentford and are on 6 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED lost 3-0 at home against LIVERPOOL and picked up their first blank of the season. Liverpool have taken their goals total to 7.

CHAMPIONSHIP

After they had failed to score in their last 2 games, BURNLEY drew 1-1 at home against Blackburn Rovers and are on a total of 10 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH won 2-0 away to Cardiff City and are on a total of 8 goals. NORWICH CITY won 1-0 away to Coventry and are on a total of 8 goals. LEEDS UNITED won 2-0 at home against Hull City and are on a total of 7 goals. After they had failed to score in their previous 2 games, MILLWALL won 3-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and are now on a total of 9 goals. It’s 10 goals for OXFORD UNITED after they won 3-1 at home against PRESTON NE. Preston are on a total of 9 goals. PORTSMOUTH lost 3-1 at home to Sunderland and are on a total of 6 goals. SWANSEA CITY lost 1-0 away to WBA and picked up their third blank and now 2 games without a goal. SHEFFIELD UNITED won 1-0 at home to Watford. United are on a total of 10 goals.

BOLTON picked up their 3rd blank score sheet after they lost 2-0 at home to Exeter. BARNSLEY won 3-0 away to Crawley and are now on a total of 10 goals. They have now scored in all of their first 6 league/cup games. CHARLTON lost 2-0 away to Reading and picked up their second blank of the season.

LEAGUE TWO

ROSS COUNTY lost 1-0 at home against Aberdeen picking up their 4th blank score sheet and now 3 in a row. They have now scored just 1 goal in their last 5 games. DUNDEE drew 2-2 at home to St Mirren and are on a total of 33 goals and have extended their goal run to 9 league/cup games. HEARTS lost 1-0 at home to Dundee Utd and picked up their third blank of the season. After they had failed to score in their first 4 league games, KILMARNOCK picked up their first goal of the season as they drew 1-1 at home to Hibernian.

In the Championship FALKIRK have now won all 4 league games and are still in second place after they won 3-2 away to Greenock Morton Falkirk have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games and are on a total of 22 goals.

In League One Stenhousemuir are now in second place after their win. COVE RANGERS won their first league game, 1-0 at home against Montrose. Rangers are on a total of 9 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games.
