Week Twenty-Four

In Week Twenty-Four of the competition, we had a total of 10 players that picked up this weekends highest score of 11 goals each. So under the competition rules, which is only 4 players can win the jackpot, then we will have our fourth Rollover of the season worth £10 for next weekend. The players that picked up the 11 goals this week are GARY BOLBERY, BOB BURGIN (Stalky 2) TONY KING (1) ROBERT NETTING, DARYL NICHOLLS, our 2005/06 Champion KEAMUS SETNA, our 2012/13 Champion ALICE STUBBS, SCOTT THOMSON (1) MARK UNSTEAD and JAMES WISE.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

All but two of us managed to pick up some more goals during midweek, so the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has changed slightly from last week. We now have a total of 18 players that are on or over the halfway mark. The highest score went to OLIVIA HAMMOND, BRUCE SELF and JANE STUBBS all with a total of 8 goals each.

Leading the race this week we have back, BARBARA BARNES (2) up from tw8 now with a total of 52 goals. Her teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United. In second place we now have last weeks leader ALFIE DIMMOCK now with a total of 55 goals. In third place we still have MARTIN CORBETT, but he is now joined with BRUCE SELF, coming back in with PETER WELLARD up from five, all with a total of 54 goals. In fourth place we now have BARRY BURROUGHS and CHRIS SETFORD both up from five now on a total of 53 goals. In fifth place, all on a total of 52 goals, we have TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion, GEOFF DOCKERILL our 1994/95 Champions, LOUIE HARRINGTON, MARK LAVER and  RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion, moves down from four.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 6 of our teams without a game this weekend and we had another 11 of our teams that failed to score any goals. We had some really high scores once again this weekend and we all picked up some goals, but the average score fell from our high nine of last weekend to 7 goals this weekend. So if you have done better than that? Well done.

The highest score over the weekend was 6 goals, and they came from the Premier League where MANCHESTER CITY who won 6-0 away to IPSWICH TOWN. For the third weekend running City have picked up the weekend’s highest score. They are now on a total of 55 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. Ipswich picked up their ninth blank of the season and now 2 games in a row. Here are the rest of the weekend results.

PREMIER LEAGUE 

Top of the table LIVERPOOL won 2-0 away to Brentford with 2 late goals. Liverpool are on a total of 64 goals. In second place we have ARSENAL who drew 2-2 at home to ASTON VILLA. Arsenal are on a total of 55 goals while Villa are on 38. Villa have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. NEWCASTLE lost 4-1 at home to AFC BOURNEMOUTH and picked up goal number 50 and have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. Bournemouth have taken their goals tally to 38 and have scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. LEICESTER CITY lost 2-0 at home to Fulham and that is their seventh blank of the season and now 2 in a row. In the London derby, WEST HAM lost 2-0 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE and picked up their fifth blank of the season. Palace are on a total of 36 goals and have a goal run of 5 league/cup games. MANCHESTER UNITED lost 3-1 at home to Brighton and are on a total of 43 goals. TOTTENHAM lost 3-2 away to Everton and are on a total of 57 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. Bottom of the table SOUTHAMPTON lost 3-2 away to Nottingham Forest and are on a total of 28 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

LEEDS UNITED are top of the table as they win 3-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. Leeds are now on a total of 52 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. In second place we have SHEFFIELD UNITED who won 2-0 at home to NORWICH CITY and are on a total of 42 goals. Norwich picked up their eighth blank score sheet and now 2 in a row.

In the Play-offs we only have one of the 4 teams and they are Burnley in third place.

Meanwhile SWANSEA CITY lost 3-0 away to Cardiff City and picked up their twelth blank of the season and now just 1 goal in their last 4 games. MILLWALL picked up their eleventh blank of the season after they lost 1-0 at home to Hull City. LUTON TOWN drew 0-0 at home to PRESTON NE and picked up their ninth blank score sheet and now 2 games in a row. Preston have now had a total of eight blank score sheets after a goal run of 10 league/cup games. OXFORD UNITED won 1-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers and hit goal number 33. they have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. After they failed to score in their previous 3 games, PORTSMOUTH won their sixth league game 2-1 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH. Portsmouth are now on a total of 32 goals while Middlesbrough hit goal number 47.

LEAGUE ONE

Top of the table BIRMINGHAM CITY won 1-0 at home against Exeter City and are on a total of 48 goals.

In the Play-offs we have three of the four teams. In third place we still have Wrexham with HUDDERSFIELD TOWN in fourth place. They drew 2-2 away to BLACKPOOL and are on a total of 44 goals. Blackpool are on 43 goals. BARNSLEY are in fifth place and lost 3-1 away to Bristol Rovers and picked up goal number 45.

Meanwhile  PETERBOROUGH drew 0-0 at home to Leyton Orient and picked up their tenth blank of the season and now 3 games without a goal. BOLTON drew 2-2 at home to Cambridge Utd and are on a total of 43 and have now scored in all of their last 6 league games. CHARLTON lost 4-2 away to Rotherham and are on a total of 38 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

In the Play-offs we have three of the 4 teams. They are AFC WIMBLEDON in fourth place after they won 2-0 at home to Tranmere and are on a total of 44 goals. NOTTS COUNTY in fifth place won 3-0 away to Accrington and are now on a total of 52 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. DONCASTER in sixth place won 1-0 away to Gillingham and picked up goal number 42 and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games.

Meanwhile BROMLEY lost 1-0 at home to Colchester and that is their fourth blank of the season after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. CHESTERFIELD drew 1-1 away to Grimsby and are on a total of 43 goals. MK DONS lost 4-2 away to Walsall and are on a total of 38 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the SCOTTISH CUP  4th Round we had 7 of our teams in action. Out of them only 3 have made it throught o the next round. They are COVE RANGERS who won 2-0 at home to Forfar and are on a total of 37 goals. CELTIC won 2-1 at home to KILMARNOCK and are on a total of 83 goals. Kilmarnock after they had failed to score in their previous 2 games, hit goal number 26. RANGERS won 5-0 at home to non-league Fraserburgh to reach the next round of the cup. Rangers are on a total of 59 goals and have extended their goal run to 18 league/cup games.

Teams that went out of the cup are STENHOUSEMUIR after they lost 3-0 away to Dunfermline and have now had a total of twelve blank score sheets and now 2 in a row. ROSS COUNTY lost 3-2 after extra time against Livingston and are on a total of 35 goals. FALKIRK lost 2-1 at home to Raith Rovers after extra time and hit goal number 56.

In League Two EAST FIFE are still top after they won 2-0 away to Stranraer and are on a total of 53 goals. PETERHEAD in second place won 3-2 at home to Stirling and are on a total of 43 goals.

Our BEST three teams this week

Our best performing team this weekend are still RANGERS after they have now scored in all of their last 18 league/cup games. They have a total of 59 goals which gives them an average score of 2.5 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is now SWANSEA CITY this weekend as they have had a total of 12 blank score sheet from 30 league/cup games. They have a total of 33 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring team that we have in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER CITY after they won 8-0 at home to Salford City in the FA Cup Third Round in Week Twenty-Three.

GEOFF DOCKERILL our 1994/95 Champion, is celebrating his third weekend at the top after his teams picked him up a total of 12 goals from the week. Geoff’s teams are Arsenal, Celtic and Liverpool. Luke Hammond is still in second place, now 4 goals behind Geoff. Luke picked up a total of 10 goals from the week and his teams are Celtic, Chelsea and Liverpool.

At the other end at 114 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY with his tenth consecutive weekend. Charlie’s teams picked up just 3 goals from the weekend. His teams are Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir.

Well even with the best result of the weekend, it did not have any effect on our top ten this weekend.
