In the Championship, BRISTOL CITY drew 2-2 at home to WREXHAM and are on a total of 52 goals. Wrexham are on a total of 59 goals. 

In League One, top of the table CARDIFF CITY won 4-1 at home against AFC Wimbledon and have taken their goals tally to 72 goals. They have extended their goal run to 20 league/cup games. It’s 50 goals for WYCOMBE WANDERERS after they drew 1-1 away to Exeter. PETERBOROUGH UNITED lost 2-1 away to Barnsley and picked up goal number 48. STOCKPORT COUNTY lost 1-0 away to Bradford and picked up their 8th blank of the season and now two games without a goal. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN lost 1-0 away to Doncaster and picked up their 6th blank of the season and now two games without a goal. After they had failed to score in their last three games, LEYTON ORIENT picked up goal number 42 after they lost 3-1 at home to PLYMOUTH. Plymouth are now on a total of 48 goals and have extended their goal run to 14 league/cup games. BLACKPOOL won 1-0 at home to Mansfield and are on a total of 44 goals. BOLTON WANDERERS drew 1-1 away to Reading and are on a total of 48 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. 

In League Two, top of the table BROMLEY drew 1-1 at home to Cheltenham and are on a total of 59 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. SWINDON TOWN won 2-1 away to BARNET and are on a total of 64 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. Barnet are on a total of 44 goals. CHESTERFIELD won 1-0 at home to GILLINGHAM and are on a total of 53 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. Gillingham picked up their 7th blank of the season and now two games without a goal. After a goal run of 5 games. CREWE picked up their 9th blank scoresheet after they lost 1-0 at home to Fleetwood. After a goal run of 8 league/cup games, MK DONS drew 0-0 at home to Crawley and picked up their 5th blank of the season. NOTTS COUNTY lost 1-0 away to Shrewsbury and picked up their 6th blank of the season after a goal run of 7 league/cup games. 

In the Scottish League One COVE RANGERS won 3-1 at home against Morton and are now on a total of 36 goals. EAST FIFE lost 1-0 away to Hamilton and that is their 10th blank of the season. 

In League Two CLYDE won 3-0 away to Stirling and are now on a total of 45 goals. They have extended their goals run to 11 league/cup games.

Middlesbrough Still in the Race

In the Championship, MIDDLESBROUGH are down to second place after they lost 3-1 away to Coventry, who now go back to the top. Middlesbrough are on a total of 51 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games.

Things have changed a little bit from the last published our top 10 teams. Manchester City are still top with Arsenal are now in 4th place. Chelsea have moved up to 5th place. Rangers are down to 7th place with Celtic remain in 8th place. Bromley are hanging on to the top ten once again this week.

Week Twenty-Eight

In Week Twenty-Eight of the competition, we had two winners this weekend winning on a score of 11 goals, but one of our players picked up his second win of the season. The other player picks up his first win of the season, which now brings our winner’s total to 36. Our winners are ANDY EYLES and ZIGGY (John Wood) who share the £5 Weekend Prize Money this weekend.

Andy last won some cash in Week Twenty-Two with a share of the Christmas Jackpot. Since then not much has happened to Andy, although this weekend is his personal best. 10th is still his best position with Arsenal being his best team.

Ziggy started with Golden Goals back in the 2010/11 season, when John had his second selection. In that season Ziggy finished in 108th place out of 109 with a total of 190 goals. Last season he finished in 41st place with 277 goals. This season, we can see Ziggy at his highest position to date. He has picked up three blank weekend score sheets. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

All but two of us managed to pick up some goals this week, which means that our top five have almost stayed the same as last week’s table. We can add another 26 players to the race for the cash this week, which brings our total to 55 players who have reached the halfway mark to 100. It was STEVE STUBBS (2) who picked up the most midweek goals with a total of 11. His teams are Celtic, Chelsea and Leicester City. Out in front again this week we have KEITH RATTLE, now with a total of 78 goals. Keith’s teams are Chelsea, Rangers and Wrexham.  In second place, we still have BARBARA BARNES (1) now on a total of 72 goals. In third place, we still have SCOTT THOMSON (1) now with a total of 65 goals. In fourth place we now have RICHIE WILLIAMS moving up from fifth place with a total of 64 goals. In fifth place we still have LUCIFER but joining him this week we have PHIL COLLINS, TONY GUY (3) and MICHAEL FISHER  all down from four, while STEVE STUBBS (2) has come back into the race. All have a total of 62 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 16 of our teams without a game this weekend, plus we had another 7 of our teams that failed to score any goals. The average score was five goals last weekend but this weekend it went back up to 6 goals even though a lot of our teams had no game over the weekend. Well done if your teams picked up more than that. The highest score over the weekend was 4 goals and we had four of our teams to reach that score. They came from ARSENAL, PLYMOUTH and RANGERS. FA CUP 4th Round

We had a total of 13 teams in cup action over the weekend and out of them 9 are through to the next round. The teams that are through are MANCHESTER CITY after they won 2-0 at home against Salford and are on a total of 78 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. NORWICH CITY won 3-1 at home against West Brom and are now on a total of 52 goals. WEST HAM UNITED after they won 1-0 after extra time, away to Burton. SOUTHAMPTON won 2-1 in extra time against LEICESTER CITY and are on a total of 58 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. Leicester are on a total of 49 goals. NEWCASTLE UNITED won 3-1 away to ASTON VILLA and are now on a total of 52 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Villa are on 41 goals. LIVERPOOL won 3-0 at home to BRIGHTON and are now on a total of 50 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. Brighton picked up their 8th blank scoresheet and have now failed to score in their last three games. WOLVES won 1-0 away to Grimsby and picked up goal number 31. SUNDERLAND won 1-0 away to Oxford Utd and are on a total of 30 goals. ARSENAL won 4-0 at home to Wigan and have now taken their goals tally to 67 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. BIRMINGHAM CITY go out after they drew 1-1 at home against Leeds Utd after the full 90 minutes. In extra time the score remained the same 1-1. In the penalty shootout, Leeds won 4-2. City are on a total of 49 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Middlesbrough are still in 2nd place even after they had no game again over the weekend.

In the Play-offs, we still have just one of the four teams this weekend as Ipswich Town move down to 4th place, after they had no game over the weekend.

Meanwhile, SHEFFIELD UNITED won 1-0 away to Portsmouth and are on a total of 59 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 games. . PRESTON NE drew 2-2 at home to WATFORD and are on a total of 43 goals. Watford, after they had failed to score in their previous three games, are on a total of 43 goals. BLACKBURN ROVERS won 3-1 away to QPR and are now on a total of 31 goals.

LEAGUE ONE

Top of the table CARDIFF CITY won 3-1 at home to LUTON TOWN and are now on a total of 68 goals and have now scored in all of their last 19 league/cup games. Luton pick up goal number 47.

In the Play-offs, we still have three of the four teams with BOLTON WANDERERS still in 3rd place after they drew 1-1 away to Lincoln. Bolton are now on a total of 47 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Stockport County are still in 4th place after they had no game this weekend. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN have moved down to 6th place after they lost 1-0 away to Stevenage and after a goal run of 5 league/cup games, picked up their 5th blank of the season.

Meanwhile, WYCOMBE WANDERERS lost 3-2 away to Reading and are on a total to 49 goals. Still in 3rd place is SWINDON TOWN who lost 3-1 away to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 62 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 11 games.

In the Play-offs, we now have just three of the four teams with Notts County in 4th place with MK DONS now in 5th place after they won 1-0 at home to Newport. The Dons are now on a total of 67 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 games. CREWE are now in 7th place after they won 1-0 at home to GILLINGHAM are on a total of 50 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 games. Gillingham picked up their 6th blank of the season.

In the Premiership, top of the table HEARTS have lost their 4th league game 4-2 away to RANGERS. Hearts are on a total of 68 goals while Rangers, just two points behind them, have taken their goals tally up to 67. In 3rd place we have CELTIC who won 3-2 away to Kilmarnock and are now on a total of 64 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. HIBERNIAN won 2-0 at home to St Mirren and are on a total of 45 goals.

In the Championship we had just one game here with ROSS COUNTY are now bottom of the table after they lost 1-0 at home to Queen’s Park. That is their 10th blank of the season.

In League One, STENHOUSEMUIR are still in 2nd place after they drew 1-1 at home to Montrose and are on a total of 44 goals. It’s 30 goals for EAST FIFE after they won 2-1 at home to COVE RANGERS. Rangers are on a total of 33 goals.

We still have GRAHAM PHILLIPS at the top again this weekend on goal difference, which now makes it his 4th weekend and now six over the season. Graham picked up a total of 11 goals from the week. His teams are Arsenal, Celtic and MK Dons. Dave Wood moves back into second place this weekend as he picks up a total of 15 goals from his teams this week. The Start of the FA Cup 4th Round

In the start of the FA CUP 4th Round we had just three of our teams in action and two have made it through to the next round. They are CHELSEA who won 4-0 away to Hull City and have taken their goals tally to 67 goals. WREXHAM won 1-0 at home to IPSWICH TOWN and are on a total of 57 goals. Ipswich, after a goal run of 8 league/cup games, picked up their 5th blank of the season.

It's Tough at the Top

In the Premier League top of the table ARSENAL are now just 4 points clear of Manchester City after they drew 1-1 away to Brentford. Arsenal are on a total of 63 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Arsenal have now had just two wins in their last six league games.

In Week Twenty-Seven of the competition, we had our second player to have won twice this season. Our winner is RICHIE WILLIAMS who won the full £5 Weekend Prize Money. WEEKEND RESULTS

The highest score over the weekend was 8 goals and they came from the SCOTTISH CUP 4th Round where RANGERS picked up their biggest result of the season by winning 8-0 at home to Queen’s Park. Rangers have scored a total of 13 goals this week, which has taken their goals tally up to 62 goals.

Rangers started with Golden Goals in our first season of 1983/84 where they finished on a score of 97 goals. They were our 4th voted Scottish team then. Their highest end of season score came in the 1992/93 season with 126 goals. Rangers have scored 100 or more goals in 18 of their 42 seasons to date. Last season they finished on a total of 95 goals. Over the years Rangers have netted a total of 4069 goals to date which gives them an average score of 96 goals per season. SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the SCOTTISH CUP 5th Round we had just three of our teams in cup action, one of them is Rangers, and how lucky were CELTIC scoring a very, very late goal to equalise with Dundee 1-1 after the 90-minute period. Celtic went on to win in extra time 2-1. Celtic are on 59 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR go out after they lost 2-0 away to Falkirk after extra time. That is their 10th blank of the season after a goal run of 5 league/cup games.

In League One, Stenhousemuir are still in 2nd place after they played in the cup this weekend. EAST FIFE lost 3-0 away to Inverness CT and picked up their 9th blank of the season. COVE RANGERS drew 1-1 at home to Queen of the South and are on a total of 32 goals.

In League Two, Clyde are still in 3rd place after they had no game over the weekend. DUMBARTON lost 2-0 away to Forfar and picked up their 6th blank of the season.

Our highest scoring team in our 43rd season is MANCHESTER CITY. They won 10-1 at home against Exeter City in the FA CUP 3rd Round, in Week Twenty-Three.

We still have GRAHAM PHILLIPS at the top again this weekend, which now makes it his 3rd weekend and now five over the season. Graham picked up a total of 9 goals from the week, which moves him 3 goals clear. His teams are Arsenal, Celtic and MK Dons. Hayley Adkins keeps her second place spot this weekend as she picks up a total of 6 goals from her teams this week. Hayley’s teams are Hearts, Liverpool and Manchester City.

At the other end at 111 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY(John Wood) there for his 6th consecutive week and now seven over the season. John picked up just 1 goal this weekend. His teams are Cove Rangers, East Fife and Stenhousemuir.

Forest Slip-up

In the Premier League it’s 30 goals for NOTTINGHAM FOREST as they lost 3-1 away to Leeds Utd. Forest are in 17th place.

Arsenal and City in League Cup Final

In the other Carabao/League Cup semi-final 2^nd leg, MANCHESTER CITY won the first leg 2-0 and they also won the second leg 3-1 against NEWCASTLE UNITED, winning 5-1 on aggregate. City are now on a total of 71 goals while Newcastle are on 45. Manchester City will play Arsenal in the final at Wembley on 22nd March. 

In the Scottish Premiership, RANGERS won 5-1 at home to 10 men Kilmarnock and have taken their goals tally up to 54 goals. HIBERNIAN won 3-2 at home to Dundee Utd and are now on a total of 43 goals.

Arsenal in League Cup Final

In the first Carabao/League Cup semi-finals 2nd leg, it was the London clash between ARSENAL and CHELSEA. Arsenal went 3-2 up from the first leg and then won the 2nd leg, 1-0 at home with a very late goal in injury time. Arsenal win 4-2 on aggregate and are on a total of 59 goals while Chelsea, after a goal run of 12 league/cup games, picked up their 3rd blank of the season. Arsenal are going to Wembley. 

In the Championship BLACKBURN ROVERS beat bottom of the table Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at home. Rovers are on a total of 28 goals. WATFORD drew 0-0 away to Hull and picked up their 7th blank of the season, and they have now failed to score in their last two games. SHEFFIELD UNITED won 3-1 at home against Oxford Utd and are now on a total of 47 goals. 

In League Two NOTTS COUNTY have moved up to second place after they won 1-0 at home to GILLINGHAM. County are on a total of 46 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 games.  Gillingham picked up their 5th blank of the season. It’s 40 goals for BARNET after they drew 1-1 at home against CREWE who are on a total of 48 goals. WALSALL picked up their 10th blank of the season after they lost 2-0 away to Bristol Rovers. SWINDON TOWN won 1-0 away to Harrogate and are on a total of 56 goals. Swindon have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. 

In the Scottish Premiership after a goal run of 11 league/cup games, top of the table HEARTS lost 1-0 away to St Mirren. 

In the Championship ROSS COUNTY have won their 5th league game 1-0 away to Queen’s Park and are on a total of 36 goals.

A Win for Sunderland

In the Premier League SUNDERLAND won 3-0 at home against Burnley, taking their goals total to 29.

Things have changed once again since we last published our top 10 teams. Manchester City are still top with Arsenal now in 5th place. Chelsea are still in 6th place as Celtic drop down to 7th place.  Nice to see the new boys, Bromley coming into the top ten this week.

Week Twenty-Six

In Week Twenty-Six of the competition, we had a total of three winners again this weekend to share the £5 Weekend Prize Money. This gives them £1.66 each. The three winners now take our winners total to 35 this season. Our winners are GARY BOLBERY, TONY GUY our 2010/11 Champion and MARK JOHNSTON.  They all won on a score of 10 goals.

Gary started with Golden Goals back in the 1998/99 season where he finished in the winning frame in 10th place with 293 goals. Last season he finished in 93rd place out of 114 with a total of 240 goals. This season, we can see Gary at his highest position. He picked up four blank weekend score sheets to date. His best team is Manchester City.

Tony became Champions twice, first in his very first season of 2010/11 where he finished with a total of 307 goals, which puts him in 25th and then again in the 2022/23 season with 335 goals which puts him in 7th place in our Champions League. Last season he finished in 26th place with 297 goals. Tony has 7th place first in Week Sixteen and then again in Week Twenty-Two. Arsenal is his best team with this combination.

Mark started with us in the 2020/21 season and finished in the winning frame in 5th place with 292 goals. He picked up just one shared weekend win. Last season he finished in 46th place with 274 goals. This season, Mark is at his highest to date. He has picked up three blank weekend scoresheets and Arsenal is his best team. Only 32 of us managed to pick up some goals this week, which means that our top five have nearly stayed the same as last weeks. We now have a total of 20 players who have reached the halfway mark to 100. Out in front this week we still have BARBARA BARNES (1) and KEITH RATTLE, both are on a total of 65 goals. In second place is SCOTT THOMSON (1) with a total of 62 goals. In third place we have MICHAEL FISHER on a total of 58 goals. In fourth place we still have JOHN FILTNESS our joint 2023/24 Champion and TONY GUY (3) and joining them this week we have EMMAF moving up from five. All with a total of 57 goals. In fifth place we have PHIL COLLINS coming back in with a total of 55 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just 2 of our teams without a game this weekend, plus we had another 12 of our teams that failed to score any goals. The average score was five goals last weekend but this weekend it went up slightly to 6 goals. Well done if your teams picked up more than that. The highest score over the weekend was 4 goals and they came from three of our teams. They are ARSENAL, BROMLEY and LIVERPOOL.

We still have the top six teams here with ARSENAL still top after they won 4-0 at home to Leeds Utd. Arsenal have taken their goals tally up to 58 goals. In second place we have MANCHESTER CITY who drew 2-2 away to TOTTENHAM. City are on a total of 68 goals while Tottenham are on 39 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. In third place we still have ASTON VILLA  who lost 1-0 at home to Brentford to pick up their 8th blank of the season. In fourth place we still have MANCHESTER UNITED who won 3-2 at home against Fulham. United are now on a total of 47 goals and have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. CHELSEA are still in fifth place after they won 3-2 at home to London rivals WEST HAM UNITED and are now on a total of 58 goals and have extended their goal run to 12 league/cup games. West Ham are on a total of 33 goals. LIVERPOOL won 4-1 at home against NEWCASTLE UNITED and they have taken their goals tally to 45. Newcastle, after they had failed to score in their last three games, are on a total of 44 goals. NOTTINGHAM FOREST drew 1-1 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE and picked up goal number 29. Palace are on a total of 31 goals. BRIGHTON drew 1-1 at home to Everton and are on a total of 48 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. AFC BOURNEMOUTH won 2-0 away to bottom of the table WOLVES and are on a total of 43 goals but they have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDDLESBROUGH are still in 2nd place, after they won 1-0 at home against NORWICH CITY. Brough are on a total of 48 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. Norwich picked up their 8th blank scoresheet.

In the Play-offs we still have two of the four and they are IPSWICH TOWN now in 4th place after they drew 1-1 at home to PRESTON NE. Ipswich are on a total of 52 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. Preston, after they had failed to score in their last 4 league/cup games, are now on a total of 40 goals. WREXHAM are still in 6th place after they won 1-0 away to bottom of the table Sheffield Wednesday and are on a total of 56 goals and have now extended their goal run to 11 league/cup games.

Meanwhile, LEICESTER CITY, after a goal run of 13 league/cup games, lost 2-0 at home to Charlton and picked up their 5th blank of the season. SOUTHAMPTON won 2-0 away to Stoke and are on a total of 51 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 games. BLACKBURN ROVERS lost 1-0 at home to Hull and that is their 11th blank of the season. SHEFFIELD UNITED hit goal number 44 after they drew 1-1 away to Millwall. BIRMINGHAM CITY won 2-0 away to Oxford Utd and are on a total of 46 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. WATFORD lost 2-0 at home to Swansea and picked up their 6th blank of the season.

LEAGUE ONE

Top of the table CARDIFF CITY drew 2-2 away to Burton and are on a total of 62 goals and have now scored in all of their last 17 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs, we still have three of the four teams with BOLTON WANDERERS still in 3rd place after they won 1-0 away to AFC Wimbledon. Bolton are on a total of 43 goals. STOCKPORT COUNTY now in fourth place after they won 2-1 at home to PLYMOUTH. County are on a total of 48 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 games. Plymouth picked up goal number 40 and have extended their goal run to 11 league/cup games. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN have stayed in 6th place after they won 3-2 away to PETERBOROUGH UNITED and are now on a total of 55 goals. Borough are on a total of 39 goals.

Meanwhile, LEYTON ORIENT lost 1-0 away to Port Vale and picked up their 9th blank of the season and now two in a row. After they had failed to score in their last two games, LUTON TOWN won 1-0 at home against BLACKPOOL and are on a total of 44 goals. Blackpool, after they had scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games, picked up their 10th blank of the season. LEAGUE TWO

Top of the table BROMLEY picked up their biggest win of the season after they won 4-1 away to GILLINGHAM and have taken their goals tally to 55 goals. Gillingham hit goal number 41.

In the Play-offs, we now have all four teams with MK DONS moving down to 4th place after they drew 2-2 away to Grimsby. The Dons are on a total of 63 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 games. After they had failed to score in their last two games, NOTTS COUNTY are up to 5th place after they won 2-1 away to Fleetwood and are on a total of 55 goals. In 6th place we have SWINDON TOWN after they won 3-1 at home against Barrow. Swindon are now on a total of 55 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 games. WALSALL are down to 7th place after they drew 2-2 away to CHESTERFIELD. Walsall are on a total of 43 goals while Chesterfield are on 48 goals. 

Meanwhile, BARNET drew 0-0 away to Shrewsbury and picked up their 7th blank of the season. CREWE won 1-0 at home to Colchester Utd and are on a total of 47 goals.
