Cardiff and Bromley Top of their League's

In League One top of the table CARDIFF CITY won 4-0 at home against Barnsley and have now taken their goals tally to 60. Cardiff have now scored in all of their last 16 league/cup games. BLACKPOOL lost 2-1 at home to STOCKPORT COUNTY and picked up goal number 41. Blackpool have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. County are on a total of 46 goals. BOLTON WANDERERS are on 42 goals after they won 2-1 at home to Burton. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN won 1-0 at home against LUTON TOWN and are on a total of 52 goals. Luton picked up their 9th blank scoresheet and now 2 games in a row without a goal. PLYMOUTH drew 1-1 at home to Mansfield and are on a total of 39 goals and have extended their goal run to 10 games. It’s nine blank scoresheets for PETERBOROUGH UNITED after they lost 1-0 away to Stevenage. WYCOMBE WANDERERS won 2-0 at home to Wigan and are on a total of 43 goals. LEYTON ORIENT lost 3-0 away to Doncaster and have now had a total of 8 blank score sheets. 

In League Two top of the table BROMLEY drew 2-2 at home to CREWE and are on a total of 51 goals. Crewe are on a total of 46 goals. BARNET won 1-0 at home to Tranmere and hit goal number 39. MK DONS won 1-0 at home to Bristol Rovers and are on a total of 61 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 games. NOTTS COUNTY won 2-1 at home against SWINDON TOWN and are on a total of 43 goals. Swindon are on 52 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 games. CHESTERFIELD are on 46 goals after they won 1-0 away to Salford. WALSALL drew 0-0 at home to Crawley and picked up their 9th blank of the season and have now failed to score in their last two games.

Norwich 3 Wins in a Row

In the Championship, NORWICH CITY won 2-1 at home to top of the table Coventry City. Norwich are on a total of 44 goals and have now scored 14 goals in their last four games.

Things have changed once again since we last published our top 10 teams. Manchester City are still top with Celtic still in 5th place. Chelsea are now in 6th place as Arsenal have now moved down to 8th place.

Week Twenty-Five

In Week Twenty-Five of the competition, we had a total of three winners to share the £5 Weekend Prize Money, which gives them £1.66 pence each. The three winners now take our winners total to 32. Our winners are JAMES BLYTH, GRAHAM PHILLIPS and KEITH RATTLE.  They all won on a score of 9 goals.

James started with Golden Goals back in the 2015/16 season where he finished in 75th place out of 119 with a total of 243 goals. Last season James finished in the winning frame in 2nd place with a total of 332 goals. He also won the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot. This season he has been as high as 6th place in Week Thirteen. James's best team is MK Dons.

Graham joined us in the 2017/18 season and finished in 81st place out of 149 with a total of 267 goals. Last season Graham finished in 63rd place with a total of 265 goals. This season he now has a chance of being our 43rd champion. He has picked up just one blank weekend scoresheet and MK Dons are his best team.

Keith started with us in the 2020/21 season and finished in 101st place out of 116 with a total of 220 goals. Last season Keith finished in 63rd place with 265 goals. He picked up one weekend win. This season, 12th is his highest position to date. He has picked up a total of three blank weekend scoresheets, and he also has MK Dons as his best team. Their winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Just under half of us managed to pick up some goals this week, which means that our top four are pulling away from the rest of the field. We now have a total of 18 players who have reached the halfway mark to 100. It was STEVE AYRES and TONY KING (1) who picked up the most number of goals with 7 goals each. Steve’s came from Birmingham City, Norwich City and Walsall. Tony’s came from Middlesbrough, Norwich City and Rangers. Out in front this week we now have KEITH RATTLE who was there last week and joining him we have BARBARA BARNES (1) moving back up from two. Both are now on a total of 65 goals. In second place up from three is now SCOTT THOMSON (1) now with a total of 62 goals. In third place up from four we now have MICHAEL FISHER on a total of 58 goals. In fourth place we now have TONY GUY (3) and JOHN FILTNESS our joint 2023/24 Champion. Both moving up from five and both now with a total of 57 goals. In fifth place we have EMMAF coming back in with a total of 55 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just 1 of our teams without a game this weekend, plus we had another 8 of our teams that failed to score any goals. The average score was four goals last weekend but this weekend it went up slightly to 5 goals. Well done if your teams picked up more than that. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from League Two where MK DONS won 5-1 home to Shrewsbury.

PREMIER LEAGUE

We still have the top six teams here with ARSENAL still top after they lost 3-2 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED. Arsenal are on a total of 54 goals while United are now on a total of 44 goals and have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. United are now in fourth place. In second place we have MANCHESTER CITY who won 2-0 at home against bottom of the table WOLVES. City are on a total of 66 goals while Wolves picked up their 12th blank of the season and now 2 in a row. In third place we still have ASTON VILLA  who won 2-0 away to NEWCASTLE UNITED and are on a total of 38 goals. Newcastle picked up their 8th blank of the season and now 3 games in a row. CHELSEA are now in fifth place after they won 3-1 away to CRYSTAL PALACE and are now on a total of 55 goals and have extended their goal run to 11 league/cup games. Palace picked up goal number 30. LIVERPOOL in fourth place lost 3-2 away to AFC BOURNEMOUTH and are on a total of 41 goals. Bournemouth are also on 41 goals but they have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDDLESBROUGH are still in 2nd place, after they won 4-0 at home against PRESTON NE. Brough have taken their goals tally up to 47 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Preston picked up their 8th blank of the season and they have now failed to score in their last 4 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs we have just two teams out of the four and they are IPSWICH TOWN in 3rd place after they lost 3-1 away to SHEFFIELD UNITED. Ipswich are on a total of 51 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. United after they had failed to score in their last two league games, are now on a total of 43 goals. WREXHAM have moved up to 6th place after they won 3-2 away to QPR and are now on a total of 55 goals and have now extended their goal run to 10 league/cup games.

Meanwhile, BIRMINGHAM CITY drew 1-1 at home to Stoke and are on a total of 44 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. BLACKBURN ROVERS drew 1-1 at home to WATFORD and are on a total of 27 goals. Watford picked up goal number 41. After they failed to score in their last 2 games, BRISTOL CITY won 2-0 at home against bottom of the table Sheffield Wednesday and are on a total of 47 goals. LEICESTER CITY lost 2-1 at home to Oxford Utd and picked up goal number 44. They have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. SOUTHAMPTON drew 1-1 away to Portsmouth and they are on a total of 49 goals.

LEAGUE ONE

Top of the table CARDIFF CITY drew 1-1 at home to STOCKPORT COUNTY now in fifth place. City are on a total of 56 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 15 league/cup games. County are on 44 goals.

In the Play-offs, we have three of the four teams with BOLTON WANDERERS moving up to 3rd place after they won 2-1 at home to LEYTON ORIENT and are on a total of 40 goals. Orient are on a total of 41 goals. With Stockport County now down to 5th place, HUDDERSFIELD TOWN have stayed in 6th place after they l-0 at home to Bradford and are on a total of 51 goals.

Meanwhile, PLYMOUTH won 1-0 at home to LUTON TOWN and are on a total of 38 goals and have extended their goal run to 9 league/cup games. Luton picked up their 8th blank of the season. It’s 40 goals for BLACKPOOL after they won 2-0 at home against Northampton. Blackpool have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. LEAGUE TWO 

Top of the table BROMLEY won 2-1 at home to SWINDON TOWN now down to 6th place. Bromley are on a total of 49 goals while Swindon are on 51 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Third place we now have MK DONS who won 5-1 at home to Shrewsbury and have now taken their goals tally to 60 goals.

In the Play-offs, we still have two of the four teams with WALSALL down to 5th place after they drew 0-0 at home to Accrington and picked up their 8th blank of the season. Celtic are on 55 goals but have dropped down to third place. RANGERS moved into second place after they won 3-0 at home to Dundee. Rangers are now on a total of 49 goals and have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. It’s 40 goals for HIBERNIAN after they lost 4-1 away to Falkirk.

In the Championship, AYR UNITED lost their 5th league game, 2-1 away to Partick and picked up goals number 45. ROSS COUNTY won their 4th league game 1-0 away to Airdrieonians and are on a total of 34 goals.

In League One, top of the table STENHOUSEMUIR won 2-0 away to 10 men Kelty Hearts and are on a total of 41 goals. After they had failed to score in their last 4 games, EAST FIFE lost 5-1 at home to Queen of the South. Fife are on a total of 26 goals. COVE RANGERS lost 2-0 away to Hamilton and picked up their 13th blank of the season.

Our highest scoring team in our 43rd season are MANCHESTER CITY. They won 10-1 at home against Exeter City in the FA CUP 3rd Round, in Week Twenty-Three.

We now have GRAHAM PHILLIPS back at the top this weekend, which now makes it his third week over the season. Graham picked up a total of 9 goals from the week. His teams are Arsenal, Celtic and MK Dons. Hayley Adkins moves back down to second place on goal difference this weekend as she picks up a total of 6 goals from her teams this week. Hayley’s teams are Hearts, Liverpool and Manchester City.

At the other end at 111 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY(John Wood) there for his fourth consecutive week and now five over the season. John picked up just 3 goals this weekend. His teams are Cove Rangers, East Fife and Stenhousemuir. 

As you can see that we had a very slight change in the top ten this weekend as the table seem to be settling down now.

Swindon Town Out of Cup

In the very last game of the FA CUP 3rd Round, SWINDON TOWN are out after they lost 3-2 away to Salford City. Swindon are on a total of 50 goals.

In the Championship, it’s 50 goals for IPSWICH TOWN after they won 2-0 at home against BRISTOL CITY. Ipswich have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. City picked up their 10th blank of the season and now 2 games without a goal. PRESTON NE lost 3-0 at home to Hull and picked up their 7th blank of the season and now 3 in a row. BIRMINGHAM CITY won 2-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday and are on a total of 43 goals. After they had failed to score in their last 2 games, BLACKBURN ROVERS lost 3-1 away to Swansea and are on a total of 26 goals. NORWICH CITY won 5-0 away to West Brom and have now taken their goals tally to 42. In the Premier League BRIGHTON drew 1-1 at home to AFC BOURNEMOUTH and they are on a total of 46 goals and a goal run of 6 league/cup games. Bournemouth hit goal number 38 and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games.

Week Twenty-Four

In Week Twenty-Four of the competition, we had just one winner to collect the full £5 Weekend Prize Money. That went to PETER PORTER who picked up his second win of the season. He won on a total of just 7 goals. 

Peter last won in Week Fourteen and becomes the first player to win twice this season. Since then he has now had a total of 4 blank weekend score sheets and his highest position is now 19th place in Week Twenty-One. Celtic is his best team. His teams are once again

Rangers Win Cup 4th Round

In the very first game in the SCOTTISH CUP 4th Round, RANGERS won 5-0 at home to Annan to pick up their biggest result of the season. Rangers have taken their goals tally to 46 and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games

In the Championship, second place MIDDLESBROUGH won 3-2 away to West Brom and are now on a total of 41 goals.

Arsenal in Final with City?

 

In the other Carabao/League Cup semi-final 1st leg, CHELSEA played against their London rivals ARSENAL and lost 3-2 at home. Chelsea are on a total of 50 goals and have extended their goal run to 9 league/cup games. Arsenal are now on a total of 52 goals. It’s going to be a good 2nd leg game on the 3rd of February. 

In the Scottish Premiership, top of the table HEARTS won 2-0 at home to St Mirren and are on a total of 59 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. CELTIC move back into second place, on goal difference, after they won 1-0 away to Falkirk. Celtic are on a total of 51 goals.

In the Carabao/League Cup semi-final 1st leg, holders NEWCASTLE UNITED lost 2-0 at home to MANCHESTER CITY. Newcastle have now had a total of 6 blank scoresheets while City are on a total of 64 goals. The 2nd leg is to be played on the 4th of February.

Liverpool Through in FA CUP

The FA CUP 3rd Round continues as LIVERPOOL win 4-1 at home against Barnsley and have now taken their goals tally to 38. Liverpool will face Brighton at home in the next round.

Well, things have moved since we last published our top 10 teams. Manchester City move to the top after their FA Cup win over the weekend. Celtic moved back up to 6th place, while Arsenal have now moved into 7th place. Chelsea are now in 10th place.

Week Twenty-Three

In Week Twenty-Three of the competition, we had our 29th winner of the season as DAVE WOOD picks up our highest score of the season and his personal best weekend score with 17 goals. Dave picks up the full Weekend Prize Money of £5. 

Dave started with Golden Goals way back in the 1990/91 season, where he finished in the winning frame in 6th place out of 52 entries, with a total of 264 goals. He also picked up two shared weekend wins. Last season Dave finished in 107th place with a total of 219 goals. This season, Dave is at his highest position to date and he has picked up a total of four blank weekend score sheets. His beat team are now Manchester City.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Just over half of us managed to pick up some goals this week, which means that our top six have changed once again this week. We now have a total of 11 players who have reached the halfway mark. It was STALKY (2) Bob Burgin that picked up the most number of goals with 7. They came from Brighton, Newcastle United and Rangers. 

Way out in front this week we have BARBARA BARNES (1) now with a total of 61 goals. Barbara has Brighton, Manchester City and Wrexham. Still in second place we have SCOTT THOMSON (1) now on a total of 58 goals. In third place up from four we now have KEITH RATTLE now with a total of 57 goals. In fourth place we still have MICHAEL FISHER now with a total of 56 goals. In fifth place down from three we have EMMAF now with a total of 54 goals. In sixth place we have PHIL COLLINS down from five and coming back in TONY GUY (3) both on a total of 52 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

The weather has hit the league fixtures a little again this weekend, but what a weekend we had in the FA Cup 3rd Round. We had 42 of our teams in action over the weekend, and out of them just 4 failed to score any goals. With the very best weekend in our 43rd season to date, the average score was a fantastic 8 goals. I doubt if we will ever get there again this season. Well done if your teams picked up more than that. The highest score over the weekend was 10 goals and they came from the FA CUP 3rd Round where MANCHESTER CITY won 10-1 at home to Exeter. FA CUP 3rd Round

The rest of the 3rd round was played over the weekend and out of our 25 teams that entered that round, 13 have made it through to the fourth round. They are LEICESTER CITY who won 2-0 away to Cheltenham and are on a total of 41 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. WOLVES picked up their biggest result of the season 6-1 at home to Shrewsbury. Wolves have now taken their goals tally to 29 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. SOUTHAMPTON won 3-2 away to Doncaster and are now on a total of 46 goals after they had failed to score in their last 2 league games. IPSWICH TOWN won 2-1 at home against BLACKPOOL and are on a total of 45 goals. Blackpool are on 37 goals and have extended their goal run to 9 league/cup games. BRISTOL CITY won 5-1 at home to WATFORD and that has taken their goal tally to 45. Watford are on 39 and have now scored in all of their last 16 league/cup games. BIRMINGHAM CITY won 3-2 away to Cambridge Utd and are now on a total of 40 goals. ASTON VILLA won 2-1 away to TOTTENHAM and are on a total of 36 goals. Tottenham are on 34 goals. CHELSEA won 5-1 away to Charlton and they have taken their goal tally to 48 goals and they have extended their goal run to 8 league/cup games. ARSENAL won 4-1 away to Portsmouth and have taken their goals tally to 49. NORWICH CITY picked up their biggest win of the season 5-1 at home to WALSALL. Norwich have taken their goals tally to 35 while Walsall are on 38 goals. BRIGHTON won 2-1 away to MANCHESTER UNITED and are on a total of 45 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. United picked up goal number 39 and have extended their goal run to 10 league/cup games. SUNDERLAND drew 1-1 away to Everton and that is how it remained after extra time. Sunderland then won 3-0 on penalties. Sunderland are on a total of 23 goals. NEWCASTLE UNITED drew 3-3 at home to AFC BOURNEMOUTH after extra time and then won 7-6 on penalties. United are on a total of 43 goals while Bournemouth are on 37 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. WEST HAM UNITED won 2-1 against QPR after extra time and are on a total of 26 goals.

Teams that went out are last season’s FA Cup holders CRYSTAL PALACE, who lost 2-1 away to non-league Macclesfield. Palace after they had failed to score in their last 2 league games, picked up their 28th goal of the season. MIDDLESBROUGH lost 3-1 away to Fulham and are on a total of 38 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED lost 4-3 at home to Mansfield and are now on a total of 40 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. BLACKBURN ROVERS drew 0-0 away to Hull after extra time and then lost 4-3 on penalties. Rovers have now had a total of nine blank scoresheets.

LEAGUE ONE

CARDIFF CITY are top as they drew 1-1 away to LEYTON ORIENT and are on a total of 53 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. Orient are on a total of 37 goals.

In the Play-offs, STOCKPORT COUNTY have moved up to 4th place after they won 1-0 at home to HUDDERSFIELD TOWN. County are on a total of 40 goals after they had failed to score in their previous 2 league games. Town move down to 5th place as they picked up their 4th blank of the season after a goal run of 13 league/cup games. BOLTON WANDERERS move down to 6th place after they lost 3-1 away to PETERBOROUGH UNITED. Bolton are on a total of 37 goals while Peterborough are now on a total of 35 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games.

Meanwhile, LUTON TOWN won 2-1 at home against Stevenage and are on a total of 41 goals.

LEAGUE TWO 

We had just two of our teams in action here and they were top of the table BROMLEY, who won 2-0 away to Tranmere and are on a total of 47 goals and have now extended their goal run to 16 league/cup games. CREWE drew 1-1 at home to Harrogate and are on a total of 41 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership, top of the table HEARTS won 1-0 away to Dundee and are on a total of 57 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league games. RANGERS have moved up to 2nd place after they won 2-0 away to Aberdeen. Rangers have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games and are now on a total of 41 goals. It’s 50 goals for CELTIC after they won 4-0 at home to Dundee Utd. Celtic have moved down to 3rd place. HIBERNIAN drew 1-1 at home to Motherwell and are on a total of 39 goals and a goal run of 5 games.

In the Championship, AYR UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Airdrieonians and picked up goal number 44.

In League One STENHOUSEMUIR are still top of the table after they won 5-0 at home to EAST FIFE. Stenhousemuir with their biggest result of the season, have taken their goals tally to 35 goals. Fife picked up their 3rd consecutive blank scoresheet and now 7 over the season. COVE RANGERS drew 0-0 at home to Inverness CT and picked up their 12th blank of the season.

Our worst performing team is now COVE RANGERS this weekend, as they have picked up 12 blank scoresheets in their 25 league/cup games.

Our highest scoring team in our 43rd season are MANCHESTER CITY. They won 10-1 at home against Exeter City in the FA CUP 3rd Round, in Week Twenty-Three.

We now have BARBARA BARNES (1) at the top this week which makes her our fifth player to do so. Barbara picked up a total of 17 from the week. Her teams are Brighton, Manchester City and Wrexham. Dave Wood moves in to second place this weekend as he picks up a total of 22 goals from his teams this week.
