Week Twenty-One

The Boxing Day games did not produce much of a stir in the tables this weekend but that could all change as we go into a very busy week for games. As you can see on the right here that I am doing a poll to see which team will score 100 goals first this season, so thanks for the three that have.

LAURIE KING is now in his fifth weekend at the top at the start of the second half. Laurie picked up two goals in midweek from Arsenal and another two at the weekend from Peterborough. His combination is  Arsenal , Peterborough  and Rangers. Laurie is in joint top but ahead on weekend goals with SIMON DICKINSON as he moves up from fourth to second place this weekend after picking up a total of nine goals for the week. Simon's teams are Celtic, Manchester City and Portsmouth.

At the other end, it’s still JOHN NICHOLLS now in his twentieth weekend at number 119 as his combination picked him up two goals in midweek from Arsenal and another blank score sheet at the weekend.  His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and  Newcastle.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Most of us managed to pick up some more goals again this week but the highest score this week was a total of three goals and they went to nine players who had Arsenal and Manchester City as part of their combination.
So at the start of the second half here at Golden Goals we still have two players out in front as we say fairwell to 2015. CRAIG EVANS and DANIEL GOODSON are both sharing the lead again this week as both picked up another single goal from Manchester City to move their total up to the half way mark with 50 goals each. In second place all on 45 goals we have TONY KING who remained in second place with these from third place last week. They are BARBARA BARNES (2), JAMES HUNTER, TOM MACDONALD, DAVID STAINS, NATHAN TREADWELL and RICHARD WILLIAMS. In third place up from four is JAMES WISE on 44 goals while in fourth place all on 42 we now have ADRIAN BEW, BARRY BURROUGHS and JOHN DAVIES.

This weekend we had our Christmas Jackpot of £10 in cash to give away and we had one lucky winner to pick the whole lot up. Our winner was CHRIS BOOM winning on a score of 9 goals and he becomes our 24th winner of the season. Chris started with Golden Goals back in our 2008/09 Season finishing in 31st place on 262 goals. Last season he finished in 65th place with 247 goals. Last time that Chris finished in the winning frame was in our 2012/13 Season in 6th place picking up £31 in cash including one weekend win. This season, Chris has had two blank score sheets and although we can see him in 5th place this weekend, third is his highest to date from week three. His best team is Celtic netting him 51 of his total of 145 goals.

CELTIC 2,  LEYTON ORIENT 3, MANCHESTER CITY 4
