LAURIE KING is now in his second weekend at the top. Laurie picked up a
total of nine goals for the week with four in midweek from Rangers and at the
weekend, he picked up five from Arsenal 3 and Peterborough 2. Laurie’s teams are Arsenal, Peterborough and
Rangers. Laurie is now three goals clear of RICHARD
WILLIAMS as his remains in second place. Richards teams picked him up eight goals in midweek but none
at the weekend. His teams are Hibernian, Manchester City and Rangers.
At the other end, it’s still JOHN NICHOLLS now in his seventeenth
weekend at number 119 as his combination picked him up eight goals one in
midweek from Bolton and seven from the weekend.
His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and Newcastle.
Most of us managed
to pick up some more goals this week but the highest score this week was a
massive total of fourteen goals and they all went to JOHN DAVIES who had Liverpool,
Manchester City and Rangers. John is now on a total of 41 midweek goals and not
that far behind the field.
So there was
just a little change in the race for the cash once again this week. CRAIG EVANS is still in the lead this
week but he is now joined with DANIEL
GOODSON up from second place. Both are now on a total of 48 goals. In
second place up from four is RICHARD
WILLIAMS with 44 goals. In third we still
have NATHAN TREADWELL on a total of 43
goals while in fourth place both on 42 goals we have back in BARBARA BARNES (2) and TOM MACDONALD. In fifth place we have JOHN DAVIES, JAMES HUNTER and
TONY KING all on 41 goals. Down from four to six this week is MARK HOWARD and ADRIAN BEW both on 40
goals.
John has been with us for eleven seasons now and I would like
to thanks him for his support over the years. When he started way back in our
2005/06 Season, John finished in 49th place on 240 goals. Last
season John finished on a total of 194 goals which left him rock bottom.but he
did have two weekends wins taking home just over £4 in cash. Could this be
John’s third season at the foot of the table? Last season he had the fifth best
losers score but he also hold’s the 27th
best losers score of 168 goals in our 2008/09 Season.
This season he has picked up three blank score sheets and his
best team is Arsenal with 29 goals. Highest position is 108 in the very first
weekend of football. His teams are
ARSENAL 3, BOLTON 2, NEWCASTLE 2
We had a
terrible weekend for goals as eighteen of our teams had no game which most were
cancelled due to the weather. Another
fifteen that failed to score any goals. So with that, it was not a very high scoring weekend as the
average score went down to just one goal each. Once again
our top teams failed to perform very well with only Arsenal scoring out of our
top five English teams that were in action.
We had four
teams that picked up this weekend’s highest score with three goals each. They
were Arsenal, Brighton, Cardiff and Nottingham Forest.
We had twelve of our
teams here in cup action and out of them five have made it through to the next
round with another three involved in replays.
EXETER are through as they win 2-0 at home
against PORT VALE. Exeter are on 38 goals while Port vale picked up
their 8th blank of the season. PETERBOROUGH are on 54 as they
beat LUTON 2-0 at home. Luton picked up their 4th blank of
the season and they have scored just three goals in their last four games. WYCOMBE
are through as they beat MILLWALL 2-1 away. Wycombe are on 30 goals
while Millwall hit goal number 36. It’s 39 goals for PORTSMOUTH and a
place in the next round as they win just 1-0 at home to Accrington. SHEFFIELD
UNITED won 1-0 at home to Oldham and are on 37 goals. STEVENAGE are
out as they lost 1-0 away to Yeovil. That was their 7th blank of the
season.
The three teams that have replays are CHESTERFIELD as
they drew 1-1 at home against Walsall and that was their 31st goal
of the season after a two game dry spell. LEYTON ORIENT drew 0-0 at home
to SCUNTHORPE to pick up their 3rd blank and Scunthorpe
picked up their 7th and now two games in a row.
As Leicester City move back to the top this weekend, ARSENAL
move up to second place as they win 3-1 at home to Sunderland. Arsenal are
now on a total of 29 goals. MANCHESTER CITY drop down to third place
this weekend as they lost 2-0 away to Stoke after just fifteen minutes of the
game being played. City picked up their 3rd blank score sheet of the
season. MANCHESTER UNITED have moved down to fourth place as they drew
0-0 at home to WEST HAM. United picked up their 6th blank
while West ham picked up their 2nd. Fifth is TOTTENHAM as
they drew 1-1 away to West Brom. Totternham hit goal number 26. CHELSEA
picked up their 4th blank and now their second blank in a row as
they lost 1-0 at home to Bournemouth. WATFORD are on 17 goals as they
win 2-0 at home against NORWICH. Norwich picked up their 4th
blank of the season. NEWCASTLE beat LIVERPOOL 2-0 at home to win
their third league game of the season in fifteen games. Newcastle are now on 20
goals while Liverpool picked up their 4th blank of the season.
We now have the top six teams here with BRIGHTON still
at the top as they win 3-2 at home against CHARLTON after being 2-0 down
in the first half. Brighton are now on 29 goals while Charlton are on 26 goals.
Middlesbrough are down to second place with DERBY still in third
place as they drew 0-0 away to Sheffield
Wednesday. That was their 5th blank of the season. HULL
in fourth place lost 2-1 away to LEEDS who have failed to score in their
last two games. Hull are on 34 goals while Leeds are now on 19. BURNLEY
are still in fifth place as they lost2-0 at home to PRESTON. Burnley picked
up their 5th blank while Preston take their goals total to 27. CARDIFF
are in sixth place as they win 3-2 away to BOLTON. Cardiff are on 24 goals while Bolton are
on 14. BRENTFORD are on 26 goals as they win 2-0 at home to MK DONS.
The Dons picked up their 10th blank and they have now failed to
score in their last two games. It’s six blanks for BRISTOL CITY and now
two games in a row as they lost 2-0 at home to Blackburn. NOTTINGHAM FOREST
won 3-0 at home to Fulham and are now on 22 goals while WOLVES are on 28
as they win 2-1 away to Rotherham.
Due to the
bad weather that we are having at the moment, we only had three of our teams in
action. In the Premiership, ABERDEEN are
in second place as they win 2-0 away to Dundee. Aberdeen are now on 27 goals
In the WILLIAM HILL CUP third round replays we
had two of our Scottish teams in action but both go out of the cup. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 2-1 away to
non-league team East Kilbride but it does give them a total of 29 goals while QUEENS
PARK lost 2-1 away to Forfar and picked up goal number 28.
PETERBOROUGH
(54) RANGERS (54) CELTIC (45) Total of 153 goals
OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE
BOLTON (14)
BLACKPOOL (16) WATFORD (17) Total of 47 goals
Our worst
team this week is still BOLTON even though they picked up a total of three goals this week.
They have had a total of eleven blank score sheets out of twenty games played. They
have scored just five goal in their last nine games.
Our Best
team this weekend is PETERBOROUGH after scoring in all of their last twenty-three League/Cup games
played out of twenty-four, they are on a total of 54 goals..
We now have
eight high scoring teams in our 33rd Season. From the Scottish
Premiership CELTIC won 6-0 at home to
Dundee in a league game in week seven while MANCHESTER
CITY won 6-1 at home to Newcastle in the League in week nine. NEWCASTLE’S won 6-2 at home against
Norwich in the League from week eleven. EVERTON
won 6-2 at home in a league game against Sunderland. LEYTON ORIENT won 6-1 at home to non-league team Stains Town in
the first round of the FA Cup in
week fourteen. QUEENS PARK won 6-1
away to Montrose in the Scottish league two. PORTSMOUTH won
6-0 at home to York in the league. LIVERPOOL
can now join our six goal club this week after they won 6-1 away to Southampton
in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals.
Just a little change around again this weekend in our top ten.
