Week Thirty-Nine

It’s Week Thirty-Nine of Season 34 and we had our very last full league fixture of the season. It was also our very last Weekend Cash Prize money of £6 and that was shared by four players on a total of 11 goals to pick up £1.50 pence each. The cash went to ROBERT NETTING, STALKY (1), ALICE STUBBS and GRAHAM WARMAN.
Stalky (Bob Burgin) wins with his first combination for the third time and he also shares the cash for the third time. Last time that he picked up some cash was in the Rollover in week thirty-five. Bob’s highest position for his first combo is still 34th place in week eight and he has still had a total of four blank score sheets over the weekends. Robert has picked up his second win of the season and he last won some cash back in week four with a Rollover worth £12. Rob has picked up just three blank score sheets at the weekends and this is the highest that he has been so far this season. Alice our 2012/13 Champion has also picked up her second win of the season. Alice had to share her first win in week thirty-six. With five blank score sheets, Alice has still yet to beat her highest position of four place in week eleven. Graham picks up his first and last win of the season and he become our forty-third winner of the season. Graham has had four blank score sheets and this is the highest that he has been to date. All of our four winners have Celtic as their best team.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We have now extended our list of players that have now scored 100 or more midweek goals to twenty-nine this week which is a Golden Goals record. This figure will grow over the next couple of weeks.
DARYL NICHOLLS is still leading but now on a total of 128 goals this week. He picked up the goals from Newcastle.   His other teams are Brighton and Celtic. In second place on 122 goals is still LUCIFER the Cat or John Wood. He also picked up the six goals from Newcastle. He also has Accrington Stanley and Brighton and. In third place is GRANT PHILLIPS with 115 goals and in fourth place we have STEVEN CADWELL and CHRIS SETFORD both now on 112 goals. Can Daryl beat our highest midweek score set by Paul Davey in our 2013/14 Season of a total of 132 goals as he now needs just five goals to do just that.

WEEKEND RESULTS
Although we had our very last full league fixture this weekend we did have some great score’s again. The average score for the weekend moved up from four goals last weekend to 6 goals. We had just three teams without a game this weekend with another twelve that failed to score any goals. 
The highest score that we had over the weekend was five goals and they came from the Scottish Premiership where Champions CELTIC beat their rivals RANGERS 5-1 away. Celtic take their goal scoring run to forty-two league and cup games and they are now on a total of 118 goals. They need just five goals to beat their record score of 122 goals from the 2000/01 Season. Rangers picked up goal number 79.

PREMIERSHIP
Champions CHELSEA are still top after they beat EVERTON 3-0 away and the goals now give them a total of 95 goals while Everton picked up their eighth blank of the season and now two in a row. Four points behind Chelsea is TOTTENHAM. They won 2-0 at home to London rivals ARSENAL and they are now on a total of 94 goals.Arsenal have picked up their fifth blank of the season and they remain in sixth place. MANCHESTER CITY are fourth as they drew 2-2 away to\Middlesbrough and that takes them up to 83 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED are still in fifth place as they drew 1-1 at home to Swansea to pick up goal number 75. LEICESTER CITY are now on a total of 51 goals as they win 1-0 away to West Brom. SOUTHAMPTON picked up their twelfth blank of the season as they drew 0-0 at home to Hull and WEST HAM drew 0-0 away to STOKE to pick up their ninth blank and now two in a row while Stoke have now had twelve. BOURNEMOUTH are now on a total of 54 goals as they win 1-0 away to Sunderland who are now relegated.

CHAMPIONSHIP
BRIGHTON are still top even though they lost again 1-0 at home to Bristol City to pick up their tenth blank and now two in a row. Newcastle are in second place but they had no game over the weekend. In the Play-off zone we are still down to just one team and they are SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY in fourth place. They won 1-0 away to Ipswich and that is their 60th goal of the season.
Meanwhile LEEDS UNITED are just outside the zone as they drew 3-3 at home to NORWICH. Leeds are now on 68 goals while Norwich are on 93. ASTON VILLA picked up their fourteenth blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Blackburn. It’s 60 goals for DERBY after they won 3-1 at home to WOLVES. Wolves are now on a total of 61 goals. 
BRENTFORD drew 1-1 away to Fulham to pick up goal number 79. PRESTON are on 71 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Rotherham. QUEENS PARK RANGERS won 2-1 at home to Nottingham Forest to take their goals tally to 58. 

LEAGUE ONE
Champions SHEFFIELD UNITED picked up another three goals as they win 3-2 at home to Chesterfield and they are now our second team of the season to pick up over 100 goals with 101. In the Play-off zone we have three of the four teams with SCUNTHORPE in third place as they win 3-1 at home to relegated Coventry. Scunthorpe are on 84 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eleven games. Fifth is BRADFORD still as they drew 1-1 away to Rochdale and they are now on 63 goals. After two blank score sheets, MILLWALL are in sixth place still as they win 4-3 away to BRISTOL ROVERS. As Millwall take their goals tally to 82, Rovers are now on 77 goals.
Meanwhile just outside we have SOUTHEND who won 1-0 at home to Bury and finished on a total of 71 goals. CHARLTON finished on a total of 64 goals as they win 3-0 at home to Swindon. PETERBOROUGH picked up their fourteenth blank of the season as they lost 3-0 away to Promoted Bolton. OLDHAM picked up their twenty-sixth blank of the season as they drew 0-0 away to AFC Wimbledon. PORT VALE are relegated as they drew 0-0 away to Fleetwood and that was their ninetieth blank of the season and they have scored just one goal in their last seven games. GILLINGHAM drew 0-0 away to Northampton to pick up their eleventh blank of the season. MK DONS finish on a total of 71 goals as they win 4-1 away to WALSALL who finished on 51 goals.

LEAGUE TWO
All three of the top teams we have in Golden Goals and they are all promoted.  PLYMOUTH have move above Doncaster to go top as they win 2-1 at home to Crewe. Plymouth are on a total of 73 goals. DONCASTER are now in second place after they lost 3-1 at home to Exeter. Doncaster picked up their 86th goal of the season. PORTSMOUTH are in third place as they win 1-0 away to Mansfield. Portsmouth hit goal number 76. In the Play-off zone in fourth place is LUTON. They won 4-1 away to ACCRINGTON STANLEY and that takes their goals tally to 80 while Accrington are on 64.
Meanwhile COLCHESTER won 3-1 away to poor old LEYTON ORIENT and they are now on 66 goals to Orient’s 48. YEOVIL are on 54 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Stevenage.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership ABERDEEN in second place lost 2-0 at home to fourth place St JOHNSTONE. Aberdeen picked up their tenth blank of the season while Johnstone take their goals tally to 62. KILMARNOCK are on 37 goals as they win 2-0 away to Hamilton.
In the Championship, Champions HIBERNIAN won 4-0 away to Ary and they are now on 75 goals while FALKIRK still in second place drew 2-2 at home to Queen of South. Falkirk are on a total of 61 goals. In League One, STENHOUSEMUIR have moved off the bottom of this league as they win again 2-0away to QueensPark and they are now on a total of 51 goals. PETERHEAD are now rock bottom and a point behind Stenhousemuir as they lost 4-1 away to Livingston. Peterhead are on 49 goals this week.

Our Best team on form is still CELTIC after they have scored in all of their forty-two League and Cup games played and netting a total of 118 goals which still gives them an average score of two goals per game.

OLDHAM  have picked up the most number of blank score sheets this season with a total of twenty-six out of their fifty league and cup games played.

Our highest goal scorers in our 34th Season are  HIBERNIAN after they won 8-1 away to non-league team Bonnyrigg Ross in the Fourth Round of the Scottish WILLIAM HILL CUP in Week Twenty-Five.

JUNE TIGHE is in her ninth weekend at the top as she picks up a total of fourteen goals for  the week.  June’s  picked up six goals in midweek and the other eight came at the weekend from Celtic and Sheffield United. Newcastle had no game. But June’s lead has now been cut to six goals clear of Stephen Stubbs who comes back in second place again this weekend. June has moved up to 10th place in our Champions League as she has now beaten another ten past champions.

At the other end at number 136 we have KATHY SOMERVILLE back after her combination picked her up just four goals for the week. Three of them came from the weekend from Tottenham and Yeovil with Oldham failing to score. Kathy has now been at number 136 for a total of nineteen weeks over the season. She is three goals behind Jason Cooper who picked up a total of seven goals over the week. But the good news for Kathy is that she has moved up our Loser’s League this weekend as she has beaten three past loser’s to land in 10th place. Kathy has been the scores of 182 goals set by Peter Porter in the 1992/93 Season Jeremy Hillier in the 1988/89 Season and Jon Lynch in the 2006/07 Season.
