Week Thirty-Six


In Week Thirty-Six of the competition and we had a Triple Rollover worth £24 this weekend and the prize money was shared by four players all scoring a total of 9 goals each. We had one first time winner taking our winners total up to 41, one second time winner with a third and fourth time. They were CHRIS BOLBERY, DEREK CORMACK, BOB SOPER and ZIGGY (John Wood). So for the very first time in our Golden Goals 35 year history, we had a Triple Rollover worth £24 which gives each winner a total of £6.
Derek is our 41st winner of the season and it is his very first Season with Golden Goals, which we thank him. Derek is at his highest to date and he has picked up a total of four blank score sheets. His best team, like so many of you is Manchester City.

Chris has now had two wins this season after winning back in week Twenty-One with the Christmas Jackpot. Chris has been in the top ten for most of the season. This is his fourth week at number two and he has had a total of five blank score sheets and Manchester City is his best team.
John has picked up his third win with his two combinations so far. Team Ziggy has won twice now but he is still unable to get off the last page. With just one blank score sheet, Rangers is his best team hear.
Bob has now won a total of four time with Week Twenty-Eight being his last win. Bob has been as high as 20th place and he has now had a total of six blank score sheets. Manchester City is his best team.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
The race to beat the record number of midweek goals scored by Daryl Nicholls from last season with a total of 136 goals is going slowly.
STEVE REEVE now has a total of 105 goals with three goals from Wolves. Close behind me in second place is JAMES BLYTH on a total of 104 goals. In third place on 96 goals we have TONY JENKINS while in fourth place on 95 is JUNE TIGHE. STEPHEN CADWELL is still in fifth place but now with 93 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had a great weekend for goals this week with all but three of our teams in action. Out of the rest eleven failed to score any goals. So this weekends average score fell down one to 5 goals which is still good.
The highest score that we had came from the English League One where WIGAN won 5-1 at home against MK DONS. Wigan now in second place in the league, take their goals tally up to 94 goals. MK Dons are now on 52.

PREMIERSHIP
MANCHESTER CITY had to beat MANCHESTER UNITED in second place to make sure of being Champions, although they probably are now. After being two goals up in the first 30 minutes, City lost the game 3-2 at home to United. City are now on a total of 107 goals while United are on a total of 80 goals. In third place is LIVERPOOL. but they drew 0-0 away to EVERTON. After a goal run of nine games, Liverpool picked up blank number six while Everton picked up their eleventh blank of the season. TOTTENHAM are in fourth place as they win 2-1 away to Stoke and they are now on a total of 84 goals. CHELSEA are in fifth place but they could only draw 1-1 at home to rivals WEST HAM. Chelsea picked up goal number 74 while West Ham are now on 49. ARSENAL are still in sixth place after they won 3-2 at home to Southampton. It’s 50 goals for BOURNEMOUTH as they drew 2-2 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE. Palace are no won a total of 38 goals. NEWCASTLE won 2-1 away to LEICESTER CITY and they are now on 38 goals while City are on 67. WEST BROM drew 1-1 at home to Swansea and that is their 36th goal of the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP
As you now know that Wolves are top here with Cardiff in second place. In the play-off zone FULHAM are in third place as they win 1-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday and that is their 73rd goal. ASTON VILLA are still in fourth place after they lost 3-1 away to NORWICH. Villas are now on 72 goals while Norwich are now on a total of 57. MIDDLESBROUGH are now in sixth place after they beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at home. Brough take their goals tally up to 66.
Meanwhile SHEFFIELD UNITED Are now on 61 goals as they lost 3-2 away to Barnsley. BIRMINGHAM drew 1-1 at home to BURTON ALBION and that is their 40th goal of the season while Burton are now on 35 goals.  BRENTFORD picked up another goal as they win 1-0 at home to IPSWICH. Brentford are on 65 goals while Ipswich picked up their sixteenth blank score sheet and now just two goals in their last six games. BOLTON picked up their seventeenth blank of the season as they lost 3-0 away to Derby. HULL won 4-0 at home to QUEENS PARK RANGERS and they are now on 62 goals while Rangers picked up their twelfth blank of the season. LEEDS drew 1-1 at home to SUNDERLAND and they are now on 66 goals to Sunderlands 47. READING are now on 55 goals as they win 1-0 at home to Preston.

LEAGUE ONE
BLACKBURN are top here as they win 1-0 at home to SOUTHEND. Blackburn are no won 85 goals while Southend picked up their fifteenth blank of the season. Wigan are in second place. In the play-off zone we have two of the four teams. They are PLYMOUTH in fifth place after they win 2-1 at home to PETERBOROUGH. Plymouth are on 55 goals to Borough’s 81. CHARLTON are in sixth place as they drew 1-1 away to Bristol Rovers to take their goals tally to 61.
Meanwhile SCUNTHORPE are on 62 goals as they drew 1-1 away to AFC Wimbledon. BRADFORD picked up their thirteenth blank score sheet and now just one goal in their last six games as they lost 5-0 away to Blackpool. DONCASTER drew 0-0 away to Gillingham to get their fifteenth blank of the season. PORTSMOUTH are on 55 goals after they drew 3-3 away to Rochdale. FLEETWOOD lost 3-2 away to Rotherham and they are now on 61 goals.

LEAGUE TWO
LUTON are in second place as they win 3-0 away to Yeovil. Luton are now on a total of 94 goals. We have three teams in the play-off zone and they are EXETER in fourth place as they win 3-2 away to Cambridge. Exeter are on 66 goals. In sixth place we have Lincoln City who had now game for us this week with COVENTRY in seventh place. They lost 2-1 away to Notts County and that is their 61st goal of the season.
Meanwhile FOREST GREEN lost 1-0 away to Barnet and they have now had a total of fourteen blank score sheets. COLCHESTER lost 1-0 at home to top of the table Accvrington and that is their thirteenth blank score sheet. MANSFIELD are on 67 goals but lost 4-3 at home to Crewe. PORT VALE are on 52 as they lost 2-1 at home to Crawley Town.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC are now thirteen points clear of second place Rangers as they win 2-1 away to Hamilton. Celtic are now on a total of 90 goals. RANGERS won 4-0 at home to Dundee to take their goals tally up to 89 goals. ABERDEEN lost 2-0 away to Hearts and they are in third place with their twelfth blank of the season.
In the Championship FALKIRK lost 2-1 at home to Dunfermline. In League One RAITH ROVERS are still in second place in the league as they drew 1-1 away to Arbroath and are now on a total of 72 goals. In League Two, Top of the table PETERHEAD won 3-1 away to Berwick and they are now on 96 goals and they have now scored in all of their last ten games. ELGIN CITY lost 4-1 away to Annan and they are now on 57 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR won 4-1 away to Edinburgh and they take their goals tally up to 55 goals.

The team with the best run of goals is currently TOTTENHAM who have scored in all of their last twenty-six games.

BURTON ALBION have picked up the most number of  blank score sheets this season with a total of twenty-one out of a total of forty-five games played.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 35th Season is PETERHEAD from the Scottish League Two. They picked up our highest score in week eleven as they won 9-0 at home to non-league team Colville Park in the WILLIAM HILL CUP Second Round. 

CHRIS BOOM is still on top this weekend as his combination picked him up a total of seven goals all coming from the weekend. They came from Celtic and Manchester City with two goals each and Peterhead with three. Chris has now been at the top for a total of seventeen weeks. He has now just two goals clear of Chris Bolbery now in second place who picked up a total of ten goals from his combination. With his total of 293 goals, Chris has moved up our Champions League once again to twenty-seventh place by beating our 1984/85 Champion Martyn Gents score of 289 goals and me, Steve Reeve beating my score of 290 goals in the 2008/09 Season.

At the other end at number 149 we still have COLIN PINDER for his twenty-fourth weekend. Colin picked up a total of eight goals with six coming from midweek and another two at the weekend. Colin has the combination of Colchester, Crystal Palace and Southend and still has the lowest score on record.
