Week Fourteen

In Week Fourteen of the competition, we had two winners this weekend to share the £6 Weekend Jackpot on 15 goals each.  Our winners are GEOFF CARTHY and our two time Champion PHIL REEVE.  Both are first time winners this season which now takes our winners total up to thirteen.
Geoff  has been with Golden Goals for a very long while now and last season he finished in 69th place on a total of 272 goals. He picked up one shared weekend win. This season, Geoff  has had just one blank score sheet at the weekend and this is his personal best score. The highest that he has been is 23rd place in our first weekend of football.
Phil is just one of our players to be Champions twice. He first got their in the 1987/88 Season and then again in the 2011/12. Phil, being a lovely brother as he is, has been with the competition for the full thirty-six seasons. Last season he finished in fourth place in the winning frame on 323 goals. He won a total of £52. Picking up his personal best score for this season, he has picked up two blank score sheets at the weekend and this is his highest position to date.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only three of you failed to pick up any goals in midweek and we had four players that picked up the highest amount of goals with eleven each. They were ROBERT NETTING, JAMES SOMERVILLE, GRAHAM WARMAN and JAMIE WOOD. So the race for the cash has changed once again from last weeks runners.
GRAHAM HARRIS is still out in front now with a total of 40 goals. He has Hearts, Tottenham and West Brom. In second place and now only seven goals behind Graham, we have JACQUI WILLIAMS up from three,  JUNE TIGHE up from four and straight in we have ANN WELLARD all on 33 goals. In third place down from two we have RYAN WILLIAMS on 32 goals. In fourth place we have DAVID SOMERVILLE coming straight in with 31 goals.  In joint fifth place all on 30 goals we still have CLIFF BAMBRIDGE with SCOTT THOMSON (2) and TERRY WARWICK both down from fourth place. Also at five we have JAMES BLYTH and STEVEN STUBBS.

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had another very good weekend for goals as the big teams this season start to improve on their goals totals. This weekends average score shot up  from five goals last weekend to a fantastic 9 this weekend. We had just two of our teams without a game over the weekend and another fifteen teams that failed to score any goals.
The highest score that we had was six goals and they came from the Premiership where MANCHESTER CITY won 6-1 at home against Southampton. City have had a very good week scoring a total of nine goals in their three games this week. They are now on a total of 38 goals.

PREMIERSHIP
We now have the top seven teams in this league with Manchester City going back on top after their win. Two points behind them we have CHELSEA in second place as they win 3-1 at home to Crystal Palace. Chelsea have taken their goals total up to 32. LIVERPOOL have drop down to third place on goal difference with Chelsea after they drew 1-1 away to ARSENAL in fifth place. Liverpool are now on 22 goals while Arsenal picked up goal number 30. In fourth place is TOTTENHAM who won 3-2 away to WOLVES. Tottenham with six goals this week are now on a total of 24 goals. Wolves after a two game dry spell are now on 13 goals. BOURNEMOUTH are in sixth place but lost 2-1 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED in seventh place. Bournemouth are now on a total of 28 goals while United take their goals total to 21. LEICESTER CITY won 1-0 away to Cardiff and that is their 21st goal of the season. EVERTON won 3-1 at home to Brighton and that gives them a total of 23 goals. WEST HAM won 4-2 at home to Burnley and they are now on a total of 25 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP
In the all changing league LEEDS UNITED have moved back up to top place after they won 2-1 away to Wigan. Leeds are on 30 goals and have scored in all of their last ten games. DERBY are now in fifth place after they won 3-1 at home against BIRMINGHAM. Derby are now on 35 goals while Birmingham picked up goal number 20. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 1-0 at home to Sheffield United and they are now on 32 goals. It’s 30 goals for BLACKBURN as they win 1-0 at home to Queens Park Rangers. BRENTFORD won 2-0 at home against Millwall and they are now on 31 goals. ROTHERHAM won 2-1 at home to SWANSEA and they are now on 17 goals while Swansea picked up goal number 18. STOKE picked up their third blank of the season after they drew 0-0 at home to Middlesbrough. IPSWICH are still rock bottom as they drew 1-1 at home to Preston after going a goal up in the first half. Ipswich after a three game dry spell for goals are now on 13. HULL are now second from bottom as they win 1-0 at home to WEST BROM. Hull are now on 14 goals while West Brom picked up their fourth blank of the season.

LEAGUE ONE
We now have the top eight teams in this league with PORTSMOUTH still on top this weekend and now three points clear after they won 1-0 away to Bradford. Portsmouth are now on a total of 29 goals. SUNDERLAND are up to second place after they won 2-0 away to PLYMOUTH.  Sunderland are now on a total of 32 goals while Plymouth picked up their sixth blank of the season. PETERBOROUGH have dropped down to third place after they lost 1-0 away to WYCOMBE. Borough picked up their fourth blank of the season, Wycombe picked up goal number 29. BARNSLEY are still in fourth after they won 1-0 at home to SOUTHEND. Barnsley  are now on a total of  30 goals while Southend picked up their fifth blank of the season and now two in a row. SHREWSBURY are now on 17 goals after they won 2-1 away to AFC Wimbledon. BRISTOL ROVERS won 3-0 away to Blackpool and that now gives them a total of 17 goals. CHARLTON won 2-0 at home to Doncaster and they are now on 24 goals while it’s 20 for COVENTRY as they drew 1-1 at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY. Accrington are on 22 goals. LUTON drew 0-0 away to ROCHDALE and both teams have now had a total of four blank score sheets this season. SCUNTHORPE drew 3-3 at home to Oxford Utd and they are now on 27 goals. It’s 30 goals for BURTON ALBION as they win 3-1 away to Walsall. Burton have now scored in all of their last eight games.

 LEAGUE TWO
We have the top tow here with LINCOLN CITY still top this weekend as they win 2-1 at home to Forest Green and they are now on 37 goals.  MK DONS are still in second place as they picked up their biggest score of the season with a 4-0 away win over Crawley town. The Dons are now on  27 goals and extend their goal run to twelve games. EXETER are down to fifth place this weekend after they lost 2-0 away to Tranmere. Exeter have picked up their fifth blank of the season. MANSFIELD drew 2-2 away to Cheltenham and they are now on 30 goals. SWINDON picked up their seventh blank score sheet as they lost -0 away to Colchester. Swindon have now scored just three goals in their last eight games. NOTTS COUNTY have taken their goals total to 23 goals after they drew 2-2 away to Port Vale. OLDHAM lost 3-2 away to Sevenage but they are now on a total of 21 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Premiership, HEARTS are still top but now just one point in front of Celtic after they lost 5-0 away to CELTIC. Hearts have now failed to score in their last three games and that was their fourth blank of the season. Celtic after scoring five in midweek are now on a total of 34 goals. RANGERS are now in third place and four points behind Celtic after they won 2-0 away to St Mirren. Rangers are now on a total of 32 goals. HAMILTON won 1-0 at home to Livingston and that is their 14th goal of the season. HIBENERIAN picked up their third blank and now two in a row after they lost 1-0 at home to St Johnstone. It’s 20 for ABERDEEN as they win 2-1 away to Kilmarnock.
In the Championship, AYR UNITED are back on top after they win 1-0 away to bottom of the table FALKIRK.  Ayr are on 39 goals while Falkirk picked up their tenth blank of the season and now just one goal in their last five games played. ROSS COUNTY are down to second place after they drew 2-2 away to Inverness CT. County are now on a total of 32 goals and they have scored in all of their last six games. ALLOA picked up their ninth blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 at home against Dunfermline. Alloa have now failed to score in their last three games.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are in second place after they won 2-1 at home to Brechin. Rovers  take their goals total to 29 and they have now scored in all of their last twelve games. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 2-0 at home to Stranraer and that is their eighth blank of the season. DUMBARTON picked up their fourth blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Montrose.
In League Two, PETERHEAD are in top place this weekend as they win 2-1 at home to Albion Rovers. Peterhead are now on a total of 27 goals.

Our Best teams this week are SUNDERLAND after they have scored in all of their last fourteen League and Cup games out of seventeen played. They have a total of 32 goals.

Our worst team is FALKIRK this weekend as they have picked up a total of ten blank score sheets out of sixteen league and cup games played this season. They have scored just one goal in their last five games.

Our biggest result in our 36th Season are now WEST HAM UNITED who won 8-0 at home against Macclesfield in the Carabao/League Cup Third Round in Week Nine. West Brom has the second highest score with a 7-1 home win against Queens Park Rangers in their fourth league game of the season in Week Three.  

We have a new leader this weekend and it’s JAMES SOMERVILLE who becomes our third only player to go top this weekend.  James has picked up a total of  twenty-three goals this week including twelve goals coming from the weekend. His teams are Ayr United, Celtic and Manchester City.  GARY BROWN has moved down to second place as he only picked up a total of fifteen goals with nine from the weekend. His teams are Ayr United, Manchester City and Sunderland. There is a gap of just two goals between them.
At the other end at 133 we still have John Filtness at the bottom for his fifth consecutive weekend as he picks up a total of just three goals at the weekend. He has now had eight weeks at the bottom and he is now eleven goals adrift. His teams are  Birmingham, Hamilton and Liverpool.
