Week Six

Here in Week Six of the competition we have had our first Rollover of the season worth £10 this weekend and it went to our 1994/95 Champion GEOFF DOCKERILL. He becomes our sixth player to win some cash this season. Geoff won on a total of 12 goals which is his personal best and our top score of the season to date. Geoff has been with Golden Goals for over thirty years as he started with us back in the 1990/91 Season. In that season Geoff finished in 30th place with a total of 232 goals. He picked up just one shared weekend win of 66 pence. Geoff became Champion in the 1994/95 Season as we have already said and he won with a total of 274 goals which leaves him in 36th place in our Champions League. Last season He finished in 82nd place with a total of 240 goals but failed to pick up any cash. This season Geoff has picked up two weekend blank score sheets and this is his highest position to date. His winning teams are 

MANCHESTER UNITED 4, RANGERS 2, SHEFFIELD UNITED 6  

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT With no goals during midweek this week the race for the cash has remained the same again as last week. In the lead we have GEOFF CARTHY and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion, both are on a total of 23 goals. In second place we have PETER PORTER on a total of 22 goals. In third place all with 19 goals we have RAYMOND HARROD, LUCIFER and BOB SAWYER. In fourth place we have TOBY BICKNELL, GUY DOWSETT (2), SCOTT THOMSON (1), EMMA SAWYER and BOB SOPER. All are on a total of 18 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS 

We had all but one of our teams in action this weekend and out of them eighteen of them failed to score any goals. Although not a high scoring weekend, this weekend the average score went up to 6 goals. The Highest score over the weekend was six goals and they came from SHEFFIELD UNITED. They won 6-2 at home to PETERBOROUGH with their biggest score of the season and their first league win after six games. United are now on a total of 10 goals while Borough are on 6 goals after a two game dry spell. 

Sheffield United are our 79th voted English team and they first appeared in the 1990/91 Season and they finished with a total of 42 goals. Their highest score came in the 2011/12 Season with 104 goals which is the only time that they have hit 100 goals. Last time out was in the 2019/18 Season and they finished with a total of 48 goals. This is their 20th season with Golden Goals and over the years they have scored a total of 1381 goals, which gives them an average score of 69 goals per season. They have just one vote this season. 

PREMIER LEAGUE 

MANCHESTER UNITED are top this weekend after they won 4-1 at home to Newcastle. United have scored in all of their four games this season and they are now on a total of 11 goals. CHELSEA are in second place as they win 3-0 at home against ASTON VILLA. Chelsea have also scored in all of their four games and they are on a total of 9 goals. Villa picked up their first blank of the season. LIVERPOOL are in third place as they win 3-0 away to Leeds United. Liverpool are now on a total of 9 goals. ARSENAL have picked up their first league win of the season as they win 1-0 at home to bottom of the table Norwich. Arsenal are on 7 goals. BRENTFORD lost 1-0 at home to BRIGHTON and that is their second blank of the season. Brighton are on 7 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE won 3-0 at home to TOTTENHAM. With their biggest result of the season to date, Palace are on a total of 5 goals as Tottenham picked up their first blank fo the season. LEICESTER CITY lost 1-0 at home to MANCHESTER CITY and that is their first blank score sheet. City hit goal number 11. WEST HAM picked up their first blank score sheet after they drew 0-0 away to Southampton. WATFORD lost 2-0 at home to WOLVES. Watford have now had three blank score sheets while Wolves are on 6 goals.  

CHAMPIONSHIP 

WEST BROM are top here after they drew 1-1 at home to Millwall to pick up their 13th goal of the season. FULHAM are in second place as they lost 1-0 away to Blackpool. That is Fulham's first blank of the season after a goal run of six games. After a two game dry spell for goals, BORNEMOUTH won 3-0 at home to BARNSLEY. Bournemouth are now on a total of 16 goals while Barnsley picked up their third blank of the season. PRESTON picked up their second blank score sheet after they drew 0-0 away to Bristol City. READING picked up their highest result of the season as they drew 3-3 at home to QPR. Reading are now on a total of 10 goals. SWANSEA drew 0-0 at home to HULL and that is their second blank to Hull’s five and now five games in a row. NOTTINGHAM FOREST are bottom of the league after they lost 2-1 at home to CARDIFF CITY. Forest are on a total of 7 goals to Cardiff’s 14. 

LEAGUE ONE 

SUNDERLAND are still top here this weekend as win 2-0 at home to Accrington. Sunderland are on a total of 15 goals. WIGAN are in second place as they win 2-1 at home to Doncaster. Wigan are on 9 goals. After a three game dry spell for goals, BOLTON are in third place as they win 5-2 away to IPSWICH. With their biggest result this season, Bolton are now on a total of 14 goals. Ipswich are on 10 goals and they have scored in all of their last five games. BURTON drew 1-1 at home to Gillingham and they are on 7 goals this week. LINCOLN CITY picked up their biggest win to date as they win 5-1 away to Cambridge Utd. Lincoln are now on a total of 11 goals. CHARLTON lost 2-1 at home to Cheltenham and they are on a total of 5 goals. PORTSMOUTH lost 1-0 away to MK Dons and that is their third blank and now three in a row. OXFORD UNITED drew 0-0 at home to WYCOMBE and that is both their second blank of the season. PLYMOUTH won 3-0 at home to SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Plymouth have now scored in all of their seven games and are on a total of 14 goals. Wednesday picked up their fourth blank and now two in a row. ROTHERHAM lost 4-2 at home to Fleetwood and they are on a total of 8 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO 

The highest team that we have here are SWINDON and they fallen down to seventh place after they lost 2-1 at home to Port Vale. Swindon are on 8 goals. CARLISLE lost 2-1 away to Crawley to pick up goal number 7. It’s 10 goals for SALFORD CITY as they win 1-0 at home to Bradford. EXETER CITY picked up another four goals as they win 4-0 away to SCUNTHORPE. Exeter are now on a total of 9 goals while Scunthorpe picked up their fourth blank and now two in a row. SUTTON won 2-1 at home to SEVENAGE and they are on a total of 7 goals to Sevenage 11.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES 

In the Premiership, RANGERS go top after they won 2-1 away to St Johnstone. Rangers are on 15 goals. HEARTS drop down to third place after they drew 0-0 at home to Hibernian. That is Hearts first blank of the season after a goal run of nine games. CELTIC won 3-0 at home to Ross County and they are now on a total of 19 goals. ABERDEEN picked up their first blank score sheet after they lost 2-0 away to Motherwell. 

In the Championship, KILMARNOCK are in second place after they won 1-0 at home to Morton. Kilmarnock are on 13 goals. 

In League Two, KELTY HEARTS drew 1-1 at home to Elgin City to remain in top position and that is their 21st goal of the season. STENHOUSEMUIR won 2-1 away to Annan and they are on 11 goals this week. 

Our on-form team is PLYMOUTH after scoring in all of their last seven Cup/League games with a total of 14 goals. 

Our worst team this week are HULL as they have picked up fifth consecutive blank score sheets out of seven games played.

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season in our ever growing list are CELTIC who have now hit six goals twice. They first won 6-0 at home against Dundee in their second league game in Week One and again 6-0 at home in their third league game in Week Three. ARSENAL beat West Brom 6-0 away and ASTON VILLA won 6-0 away to Barrow both in the second round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Four. SHEFIELD UNITED won 6-2 at home to PETERBOROUGH in the league in Week Six. 

CHRIS BOLBERY is in his fourth consecutive weekend at the top and now five weeks out of the six played. He picked up a total of eight goals at the weekend. Chris’s teams are Bournemouth, Celtic and Sunderland. He is now four goals in front of second place Peter Porter who has Bournemouth, Rangers and Sunderland. 

At the other end at 113 we have SANDRA NICHOLLS this weekend making her the fourth player to be there this season. Sandra picked up just one goal from Brighton this weekend and her teams are Brighton, Leicester City and West Ham.
