Week Thirty-Four

In Week Thirty-Four of the competition and we had  our 3rd Rollover in our 40th Season worth £10. We had two players to shared the rollover and they were SAM LEGHORN and our 2015/16 Champion RICHARD WILLIAMS. They won on a score of 13 goals and we have now taken our winners total to 34 as one of them has already won this season. 

That player is Sam who won back in Week Eight on a score of 12 goals has picked up her highest weekend score to date. Since then she has picked up another seven blank score sheets which now gives her a total of nine. Sam has now been as high as 20th place in Week Eleven. Richard started with us back in the 1990/91 Season on where he finished in 37th place with a total of 226 goals. Although Richard has not been in every season since then, he did became Champion in the 2015/16 Season with a total of 298 goals. He is currently in 29th place in our Champions League. Last season he finished in 88th place with 239 goals and collected one weekend win. This season, thanks to his win this weekend, this is he’s highest postion to date. Richard has picked up a total of nine blank score sheets. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Just under half of us have managed to pick up some midweek goals again this week with another change in the leading pack for the £40 cash prize money this season. It was GEOFF CARTHY that picked up the most goals with a total of 6 goals. They came from Liverpool, Luton and Peterborough taking his midweek total to 69.

Leading the race this week we have joint leaders with COLIN WEBB who remains there but joining him now is JAMES BLYTH up from second place. Both have a total of 80 goals. In second place we still have  (me) STEVE REEVE but up from fourth place joining me is NICK HORTON. Both of us are on a total of 79 goals. In third place with a total of 78 goals we still have FIONA CARTHY and CHRIS DICKER but joining them this week is TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion up from sixth place.  In fourth place we have MARK GREGORY up from five and KEITH THOMSON comes back in, both with a total of 77 goals. In fifth place we still have our 2015/16 Champion RICHARD WILLIAMS with a total of 76 goals. In sixth place this week we have RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion with a total of 75 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but seven of our teams in action and out of the the ones that did play, 10 failed to score any goals. We had a very good weekend for goals this week as the average score shot up from four last weekend to 7 goals this weekend. So if you did better than that, well done. The highest score of the weekend came from MANCHESTER CITY as they picked up six goals in the cup.

FA CUP Quarter-Finals

It’s no surprise here as MANCHESTER CITY win 6-0 at home to BURNLEY. City are now on a total of 86 goals and a goal run of eight games now. Burnley picked up their 5th blank of the season. BRIGHTON won 5-0 at home to Grimsby and they have taken their goals tally to 65. SHEFFIELD UNITED won 3-2 at home to Blackburn Rovers and they are now on a total of 70 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED won 3-1 at home to FULHAM and after they had failed to score in their last two games, United are now on a total of 69 goals. Fulham are on a total of 47.

PREMIER LEAGUE

ARSENAL are still top of the table after they won 4-1 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE.  Arsenal are now on a total of 70 goals and a goal run of eight games now. Palace, after they had failed to score in their previous four games, picked up goal number 25. Manchester City are still in second place while in third place it’s still Manchester United. TOTTENHAM are still in fourth place after they drew 3-3 away to Southampton. Tottenham are now on a total of 56 goals. ASTON VILLA won 3-0 at home against BOURNEMOUTH and they are now on a total of 42 goals and a goal run of sixteen games. Bournemouth picked up their 14th blank of the season. LEICESTER CITY drew 1-1 away to Brentford and picked up goal number 47. LEEDS UNITED won 4-2 away to Wolves and that has taken their goals tally to 48. CHELSEA drew 2-2 at home to EVERTON and they are on a total of 29 goals while Everton are on 25.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Top of the table Burnley and Sheffield United in second place both were in FA Cup action over the weekend.

In the Play-Offs MIDDLESBROUGH are still in third place after they won 4-0 at home to Preston. Brough have taken their goals tally to 70 goals. LUTON are still in fourth place after they drew 1-1 away to SUNDERLAND. Luton are on 53 goals and a goal run of six games. Sunderland are on 58 goals.

Meanwhile HUDDERSFIELD won 1-0 away to Millwall and picked up their 33rd goal of the season. READING drew 1-1 at home against Hull and they are on a total of 44 goals. NORWICH picked up their 12th blank of the season after they drew 0-0 away to Stoke. WATFORD drew 1-1 at home to Wigan and they are on a total of 45 goals. SWANSEA won 2-0 at home to Bristol City and they are on a total of 55 goals.

LEAGUE ONE

Sheffield Wednesday are top of the table with PLYMOUTH in second place are now only one point behind them. Plymouth won 2-0 at home to FOREST GREEN ROVERS and are on a total of 66 goals. Forest Green, still bottom of the league, picked up their 15th blank of the season.

In the Play-Offs we still have IPSWICH in third place as they win 2-0 at home to Shrewsbury. Ipswich have now taken their goals tally to 84 goals and a goal run of six games. DERBY are still in fifth place after they lost 2-0 at home to Fleetwood. Derby after a goal run of nine games, picked up their 12th blank score sheet.

Meanwhile PETERBOROUGH won 3-0 away to LINCOLN CITY and they have taken their goals tally to 69 goals. Lincoln picked up their 15th blank of the season. MK DONS won 1-0 away to Accrington and are on a total of 46 goals. BRISTOL ROVERS lost 2-0 at home to Portsmouth and that is their 12th blank of the season and now two in a row. CHARLTON won 2-1 away to Cambridge Utd and are on a total of 62 goals. OXFORD UNITED drew 1-1 away to Morecambe and that is goal number 47 for them.

LEAGUE TWO

The highest teams that we have in this league are all in the Play-Offs. They are STOCKPORT COUNTY still in fifth place after they drew 1-1 at home to MANSFIELD TOWN. Stockport are on a total of 61 goals while Mansfield are on 58 goals. BRADFORD CITY are still in sixth place after they drew 2-2 at home against Hartlepool. Bradford are on a total of 47 goals. SALFORD CITY have moved down to seventh place after they won 3-1 at home to Doncaster. Salford are now on a total of 58 goals and a goal run of seven games.

Meanwhile AFC WIMBLEDON lost 1-0 at home to CRAWLEY TOWN and picked up their 15th blank of the season after a goal run of six games. Crawley have taken their goals total to 43. SWINDON drew 4-4 away to Rochdale and they have taken their goals tally to 49. GILLINGHAM picked up their 24th blank of the season after they lost 2-0 away to Walsall. Gillingham have now scored just two goals in their last five games.

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In the Premiership Champions CELTIC won 3-1 at home against HIBERNIAN. That has now taken their goals tally to 118 and a goal run of 28 games. Hibs picked up their 55th goal of the season and a goal run of seven games. RANGERS in second place won 4-2 away to Motherwell and they have taken their goals tally to 86 goals and a goal run of 29 games. HEARTS in third place lost 3-0 away to ABERDEEN who are in fourth place. Hearts picked up their 11th blank of the season and two in a row. Aberdeen are now on a total of 67 goals.

In League One ALLOA have moved up to third place after they won 3-0 at home to Clyde and they are now on a total of 56 goals. KELTY HEARTS lost 2-1 at home to Montrose and they are on a total of 37 goals and a goal run of nine games.

In League Two, BONNYRIGG ROSE are still at the bottom of the league after they drew 1-1 at home to East Fife and they are on a total of 37 goals.

Our BEST three teams this week

Our WORST three teams are

CRYSTAL PALACE (25) EVERTON (25) CHELSEA (29) Total of 79 goals      

Our best performing team are RANGERS as they have now scored in all of their last 29 league/cup games played. They have a total of 86 goals. That gives them an average score of 2.3 goals per game.   

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM as they have picked up a total of 24 blank score sheets out of 45 League/Cup games played.  

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL who won 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five. 

Our 2010/11 Champion TONY GUY with combo two, has remained at the top for his 21st consecutive weekend. Tony picked up a total of 8 goals this week from Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday and he is now just 3 goals in front.  But there is good news for Tony this week as he has started to climb up our Champions League to 39th place. Tony has beaten our 1989/90 Champion Phil Mockler’s total of 263 goals. Mark Gregory in second place, picked up a total of 10 goals from his combination of Celtic, Manchester City and Norwich.

At the other end at 108 we still have SANDRA NICHOLLS as she picked up 5 goals for the week. Sandra’s teams are Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Leicester City. Sandra has now been here for 4 weeks and a total of 19 weeks throughout the season.   

There was no change really in the top ten this week and it could remain like this for next week.
