Week Seven

In Week Seven of the competition we had our first Rollover of the season worth £10. We had a total of five players that picked up the highest weekend score of 9 goals each. Our winners that shared the prize money are STEVE AYRES, ROSE COLLINS, CHRIS NUNN, ALBERT SPENCER and ALICE STUBBS (2). We have now had a total of nine winners to date as two of our winners have now won twice this season. They are Chris Nunn who won in Week Three and Albert Spencer in Week Four. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Twenty-five players picked up some goals in midweek, which means that there is a slight change in the race for the cash. In the lead we still have our 2015/16 Champion RICHARD WILLIAMS with 27 goals. In second place we have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) with a total of 25 goals. In third place we now have MALCOLM STUBBS and BAILEY MORAN Moving up from sixth place. Both have a total of 16 goals each. In fourth place with 14 goals each we now have MIKE LIDDLE but with him this week we have ANDY EYLES, GUY DOWSETT (1) and MARK JOHNSTON. In fifth place with 13 goals each we still have SAMUEL STEPHENS, but joining him we have  GEOFF CARTHY, EMMA SAWYER and JAMES SOMERVILLE. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 5 of our teams with no game over the weekend with another nine teams that failed to score any goals.  That means that for the third weekend running the average score remained at 5 goals. So if your combination picked up more than that, then you have done very well this weekend. The Highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from the Scottish League Two STENHOUSEMUIR. They picked up their highest result of the season, so far with a 5-0 home win against Stranraer. Stenhousemuir are now in second place in the league and they have taken their goals tally to 13.

Stenhousemuir became our 8th Scottish team to join Golden Goals in the 1985/86 Season. In their first season they finished with a total of 56 goals. Their highest end of season total was in the 2012/13 Season with 72 goals. Last season they finished with 64 goals. This is their 17th Season with us and over the years they have netted a total of 896 goals which gives them an average of 52 goals per season to date. This season they have just one vote again and they have picked up a total of three blank score sheets in 10 league/cup games. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

Top of the table MANCHESTER CITY won 3-1 away to WEST HAM. City have taken their goals total up to 14 goals and they have now scored in all of their five league games. West Ham picked up goal number 10. TOTTENHAM are in second place after they won 2-1 at home to Sheffield United. Tottenham are on a total of 14 goals and they have now scored in all of their six league/cup games. LIVERPOOL picked up another three goals as they win 3-1 away to Wolves. Liverpool have now scored in all of their five league games and have a total of 12 goals. ASTON VILLA won 3-1 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE and they are now on a total of 11 goals while Palace picked up goal number 10. FULHAM won 1-0 at home to Luton and are on a total of 6 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED lost 3-1 at home to BRIGHTON and are on a total of 6 goals while Brighton take their goals total to 15 and they have also now scored in all of their five league games. NEWCASTLE won 1-0 at home against Brentford and picked up gaol number 8. CHELSEA have now failed to score in their last two games after they drew 0-0 away to BOURNEMOUTH. Bournemouth also picked up their second blank of the season. ARSENAL won 1-0 away to Everton and picked up goal number 9 and they have also scored in all of their five league games. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

Leicester City are our highest team here now in second place. It’s 10 goals for MIDDLESBROUGH after they lost 2-1 away to Blackburn. BRISTOL CITY drew 0-0 at home with West Brom and that is their third blank score sheet. NORWICH won 1-0 at home to STOKE and are on a total of 17 goals while Stoke picked up their fourth blank score sheet and now two in a row. PLYMOUTH lost 2-1 away to Preston and are on a total of 13 goals. SUNDERLAND won 3-1 away to QPR and they have taken their goals total to 13. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY lost 1-0 at home to IPSWICH and they have now had a total of three blank score sheets and now two in a row. Ipswich have kept their 100% scoring record after eight league/cup games with a total of 16 goals. SWANSEA lost 2-0 away to Cardiff and that is their first blank of the season after a goal run of seven league/cup games. LEEDS UNITED won 3-0 away to Millwall and have taken their goals tally to 13. 

LEAGUE ONE

BARNSLEY won 2-0 at home to Burton and are on a total of 18 goals and have kept their 100% scoring record going after a total of eight league/cup games. DERBY drew 1-1 at home to Portsmouth and are on a total of 12 goals and a goal run of six league/cup games. PETERBOROUGH drew 1-1 at home against Leyton Orient and are on a total of 11 goals. READING won 2-1 at home to Bolton and are on a total of 12 goals. BRISTOL ROVERS won 2-0 away to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 8 goals. CHARLTON drew 1-1 away to Stevenage and are on a total of 9 goals. BLACKPOOL lost 2-0 away to Wycombe and that is their sixth blank of the season and now just two goals in their last seven games. 

LEAGUE TWO

Notts County are still in second place this week with WREXHAM now in fourth place as they win yet again 3-0 at home against Grimsby. Wrexham are now on a total of 17 goals and a goal run of seven league/cup games. SUTTON UNITED lost 4-1 away to Accrington and picked up goal number 14. AFC WIMBLEDON drew 2-2 at home to Crewe and are on a total of 14 goals. They have now scored in all of their last nine league/cup games. MK DONS lost 2-1 at home to Stockport and are on a total of 15 goals. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership CELTIC have remain at the top of the table after they won 3-0 at home against Dundee. Celtic have taken their goals tally to 11. RANGERS won 2-0 away to St Johnston and they are on a total of 10 goals. ABERDEEN lost 2-0 away to Hearts and that is their third blank score sheet and now they have failed to score in their last two games. KILMARNOCK drew 2-2 at home to HIBERENIAN and they are on a total of 14 goals while Hibs are on 11 and a goal run of six league/cup games. ROSS COUNTY drew 1-1 at home to Livingston and picked up goal number 23. 

In League One FALKIRK are still top after they won 1-0 at home to Queen of the South. Falkirk have now scored in all of their last seven league/cup games and have a total of 23 goals. COVE RANGERS drew 2-2 at home to KELTY HEARTS. Both teams are on a total of 18 goals each. 

In League Two EAST FIFE are on a total of 7 goals after they won 2-0 at home to CLYDE. Clyde picked up their fifth blank of the season and now three in a row. 

Our BEST three teams this week

Our Best performing team is BARNSLEY after they have now scored in all of their 8 league/cup games. They have a total of 18 goals which gives them an average score of 2 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is BLACKPOOL this weekend as they have picked up six blank score sheets in their 9 league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scoring team in our 41st Season are BARNSLEY. They won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One.

RICHARD WILLIAMS our 2015/16 Champion is at the top for his sixth consecutive weekend. Richard picked up a total of 5 goals all from the weekend. His teams are Falkirk, Manchester City and Ross County.  He is still way out in front but now just 10 goals clear of Charlie Farley (John Wood) in second place with Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir. Charlie Farley picked up a total of 8 goals all from the weekend.

At the other end at 110 we still have STALKY (2) (Bob Burgin) for his third weekend there. Bob picked up 5 goals all coming from the weekend. His teams of Celtic, Fulham and Newcastle.

There is a little more of a change in the top ten this weekend.
