Week Fifteen

In Week Fifteen of the competition we have had our 17th winner of the season winning on a total of 14 goals which is the second highest winning score this season. The full £5 Weekend Prize Money went to JAMIE WOOD with his personal best weekend score.

Jamie started  with us back in the 2015/16 Season on where he finished the season in the winning frame in 12th place with a total of 278 goals. He also picked up one shared weekend win. Last season James finished in 67th place with 255 goals and again with one shared weekend win. This weekend we can see James at his highest position to date. He has had a total of three blank score sheets with Peterborough being his best team. Here are his winning teams

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Only 26 of us have picked up some goals in midweek and the race for the cash has changed slightly once again this week. The players that picked up the most amount of goals was TONY KING and STEVE STUBBS with a total of 5 goals each. Tony has Chelsea, Peterborough and Rangers, while Steve has Celtic, Chelsea and Reading.

ANN WELLARD has taken the lead this week now with a total of 38 goals. In second place we now have TONY KING moving up from fourth place with 36 goals. In third place we now have our 2017/18 Champion CHRIS BOLBERY moving down from one last week. In fourth place we now have ANDY EYLES and MARK GREGORY both moving down from second place. Both are still on a total of 33 goals. In fifth place down from three is PETER PORTER still with a total of 32 goals. In sixth place we now have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) down from fourth place with BAILEY MORAN moving down from fifth place. GOEFF CARTHY moves back in to the race this week. All three are on a total of 31 goals.   

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all of teams in action over the weekend but we had 14 of them failed to score any goals. All of us managed to pick up some goals this weekend as the average score went up from six goals from last weekend to 8 goals. So if you received more than that from your teams, well done.

The highest score that we had this weekend was 6 goals and they came the Scottish Premiership where CELTIC won 6-0 at home to ABERDEEN with three of their goals being scored in time added on. With there biggest result of the season, Celtic are now on a total of 34 goals. Aberdeen picked up their sixth blank of the season.

Celtic are from our original starting season of 1983/84 where they became our second Scottish team after Aberdeen. In our first season, Celtic finished on a total of 116 goals. Their biggest end of season score came in our last season of 2022/23 with a record braking 143 goals. This was their 21st time out of 41 Seasons that Celtic have netted 100 or more goals, so you can see why they are a very popular team to pick. This season they have a total of 39 votes and they have picked up just three blank score sheets. Over the years they have netted a total of 3985 goals which gives them an average score of 97 goals per season to date.

PREMIER LEAGUE

MANCHESTER CITY are still on top after they drew 4-4 away to CHELSEA. City have taken their goal tally to 32 while Chelsea are now on a total of 26 goals. LIVERPOOL have moved up to second place after they won 3-0 at home to Brentford. Liverpool have kept their 100% scoring record after 14 league/cup games and are on a total of 32 goals. TOTTENHAM lost 2-1 away to Wolves and are on a total of 25 goals and have now scored in all of their 13 league/cup games. ARSENAL are now on a total of 28 goals after they won 3-1 at home to Burnley. CRYSTAL PALACE lost 3-2 at home to Everton and are on a total of 16 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED won 1-0 at home to Luton and picked up goal number 16. BOURNEMOUTH won 2-0 at home to NEWCASTLE and are on a total of 17 goals while Newcastle picked up their second blank of the season after a goal run of 11 league/cup games. ASTON VILLA won 3-1 at home to FULHAM and have taken their goals tally to 30 goals. Fulham are on a total of 16 goals. BRIGHTON drew 1-1 at home to Sheffield United and are on 25 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. WEST HAM won 3-2 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST and have taken their goals total to 25. Forest are on a total of 14 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

LEICESTER CITY are still top on goal difference after they lost 1-0 away to MIDDLESBROUGH. City have picked up their third blank score sheet and now two in a row. Brough are on a total of 34 goals. IPSWICH are in second place after they won 3-2 at home to SWANSEA CITY. Ipswich are now on a total of 44 goals and have kept their 100% scoring record after 20 league/cup games. Swansea are on a total of 27 goals. SUNDERLAND won 3-1 at home to Birmingham and have taken their goals total to 28 goals. NORWICH won 3-2 away to Cardiff City and they have taken their goals tally to 32 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. STOKE drew 0-0 away to Coventry and that is their ninth blank of the season and now two in a row. It’s 30 goals for LEEDS UNITED after they won 2-1 at home to PLYMOUTH. Plymouth are on 31 goals. BRISTOL CITY drew 0-0 away to QPR and they have now had a total of seven blank score sheets and now just one goal in their last 4 games. SOUTHAMPTON won 2-1 at home to West Brom and are now on a total of 28 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. Bottom of the table SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY lost 4-0 at home to Millwall. Wednesday have picked up their eleventh blank of the season and now just 2 goals in their last 9 league/cup games. 

LEAGUE ONE

PETERBOROUGH are our highest team here in fourth place after they won 5-0 at home to Cambridge Utd. Borough with their biggest result to date, are now on a total of 37 goals and have now scored in all of their last 16 league/cup games. BLACKPOOL lost 1-0 away to Bolton and that is their seventh blank of the season after a goal run of 10 league/cup games. BRISTOL ROVERS won 1-0 away to Carlisle and are on a total of 29 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. It’s 30 goals for DERBY as they win 3-0 at home against BARNSLEY. Barnsley picked up their second blank of the season after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. CHARLTON drew 2-2 away to Portsmouth and are on a total of 29 goals. READING lost 3-2 away to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 24 goals and bottom of the league. 

LEAGUE TWO

WREXHAM are now in second place in the league after they won 2-0 at home to Gillingham. Wrexham are on a total of 33 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. AFC WIMBLEDON won 2-0 at home against Doncaster and are on a total of 33 goals. SUTTON UNITED drew 1-1 away to Colchester and picked up goal number 29 and they have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. NOTTS COUNTY picked up their fourth blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 away to Crewe. MK DONS drew 0-0 away to Newport and that is their fifth blank of the season. SALFORD CITY lost 2-1 at home to Mansfield and are on a total of 32 goals. 

SCOTTISH RESULTS

In the Premiership Celtic are still top of the table this weekend after their biggest win to date. RANGERS in second place won 2-0 away to Livingston and are on a total of 35 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. ROSS COUNTY lost 1-0 away to St Johnston and picked up their sixth blank of the season and now two in a row. HIBERNIAN won 1-0 at home against KILMARNOCK and are on a total of 27 goals. Kilmarnock after a goal run of 9 league/cup games, picked up their third blank of the season. 

League One FALKIRK are still top here after they won 2-1 at home to Edinburgh City. Falkirk are on a total of 39 goals. KELTY HEARTS lost 1-0 at home to COVE RANGERS and picked up their third blank of the season after they had scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. Rangers are on a total of 28 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. 

League Two STENHOUSEMUIR won 3-2 at home to The Spartans and they are now on a total of 23 goals and in third place in the league. CLYDE drew 1-1 away to Forfar and are on a total of 17 goals. EAST FIFE lost 1-0 at home to Dumbarton and picked up their ninth blank score sheet and now three games with out a goal.

Our WORST three teams are 

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (9) EAST FIFE (14) NOTTINGHAM FOREST (14) Total of 37 goals 

Our Best performing team is IPSWICH TOWN after they have now scored in all of their 20 league/cup games. They have a total of 44 goals which gives them an average score of 2 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY this weekend as they have picked up 11 blank score sheets out of their 18 league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scoring team in our 41st Season are NEWCASTLE UNITED after they won 8-0 away to Sheffield United in Week Eight. BARNSLEY and BRISTOL ROVERS have both pick up our second highest score with 7 goals. Barnsley won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One. Bristol Rovers won 7-2 at home to non-league Whitby Town in the first round of the FA CUP in Week Fourteen.

LUCIFER (John Wood) now celebrates his second weekend at number one. John picked up a total of 10 goals this week from his selection of Ipswich, Manchester City and Salford City. Nora Hammond move up to second place and just one goal behind John, as she picked up a total of 10 goals from the week. Nora teams are Arsenal, Ipswich and Rangers.  

At the other end at 110 we now have our 2012/13 Champion ALICE STUBBS who becomes the ninth player to do so, Our Champion with her first selection, picked up a total of 8 goals this week. Alice has Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday and Southampton. 

We had a great week for goals this week and it has changed things around here in our top ten. WE now have a total of sixteen players that have now reach the 100 goals.
