In Week Twenty-One of the competition and we have started the second half of the season here at Golden Goals. We had just one winner again this weekend who picked up the Christmas Weekend Prize Money of £10. Our winner has become our 22nd winner of the season and they are DAVID BARRETT. David won on the winning score of 11 goals.
David started with Golden Goals in the 2017/18 Season on where he finished in the winning frame in 16th place with a total of 305 goals. David has failed to finish in the winning frame in the past two seasons. Last season he finished in 61st place with a total of 256 goals. This season although we can see Dave in 12th place, he has been as high as 3rd place in Week’s One, Three and Four. This is his personal best weekend score with Wrexham being his best team to date. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Just under half of us have picked up goals this week and the race for the cash has changed slightly again this week. The highest score that we had in midweek came from ZIGGY (John Wood) with 10 goals. His teams are Derby, Liverpool and Rangers. Ziggy now has a total of 39 midweek goals. Remaining in first place this week we still have MARK GREGORY leading the pack, now with a total of 49 goals. Mark has Barnsley, Celtic and Middlesbrough. Remaining in second place we still have TONY KING, PETER PORTER, JAMES SOMERVILLE and ANN WELLARD. All four are now on a total of 47 goals. In third place we still have our 2017/18 Champion CHRIS BOLBERY now with a total of 46 goals. In fourth place we have back in STUART KEMP (1) with a total of 45 goals. In fifth place we still have GEOFF CARTHY but joining him this week we have moving down from four ANDY EYLES and BAILEY MORAN. All are on a total of 44 goals. In sixth place we have MARTIN CORBETT and GRANT PHILLIPS now with a total of 43 goals.
WEEKEND RESULTS
We had 14 of our teams without a game over the weekend and we had another 7 of our teams that failed to score any goals. We had yet another disappointing weekend for goals, but the average score went up from three goals last weekend, to 4 goals this weekend.
The highest score that we had came from the Scottish League One where COVE RANGERS with their biggest result of the season, won 7-2 at home to Edinburgh City and they have now taken their goals tally up to 43 goals and have now scored in all of their last 15 league/cup games. Rangers became our 37th voted Scottish team back in the 2019/20 Season on where they finished on their highest score of 82 goals. Last time out was in the following season of 2020/21 where they finished on a total of 38 goals. This is their third season with Golden Goals and they have netted a total of 163 goals to date. That gives them an average score of 54 goals per season. This season they once again have just one vote and they have picked up just 3 blank score sheets.
PREMIER LEAGUE
ARSENAL are still top after they drew 1-1 away to LIVERPOOL. Arsenal are on a total of 38 goals while Liverpool in second place and a point behind, are on a total of 47 goals. Aston Villa are in third place. WEST HAM won 2-0 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED. West Ham are on a total of 36 goals while United picked up their 8th blank score sheet of the season and now three games without a goal. FULHAM lost 2-0 at home to Burnley and that is their 7th blank of the season. NEWCASTLE lost 1-0 away to Luton and that is their 4th blank score sheet. NOTTINGHAM FOREST lost 3-2 at home to BOURNEMOUTH and they are on a total of 19 goals while Bournemouth are now on a total of 30 goals and a goal run of 10 league/cup games. TOTTENHAM won 2-1 at home to Everton and they are on a total of 38 goals and have extended their 100% goal run to 19 league/cup games. CHELSEA lost 2-1 away to Wolves and they are on a total of 35 goals.
CHAMPIONSHIP
LEICESTER CITY are still top here and now 6 points clear after they won 3-0 at home to Rotherham. City have taken their goals tally up to 52 and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. IPSWICH TOWN are still in second place after they lost 4-0 away to LEEDS UNITED. Ipswich picked up their 2nd blank of the season. Leeds are in third place and on a total of 44 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH won 1-0 at home to West Brom and are on a total of 49 goals. NORWICH won 2-0 at home to Huddersfield and they are on a total of 44 goals. PLYMOUTH drew 3-3 at home to Birmingham and have taken their goals tally to 41. SOUTHAMPTON won 1-0 away to QPR and picked up goal number 39 and they have now scored in all of their last 16 league/cup games. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY lost 2-1 at home to Cardiff and are on a total of 19 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. STOKE CITY drew 0-0 at home to Millwall and that is their 12th blank of the season. SUNDERLAND lost 3-0 at home to Coventry and that is their 8th blank of the season and now two in a row.
LEAGUE ONE
The highest team that we have here are PETERBOROUGH still in second place after they won 2-1 away to Shrewsbury. Borough are now on a total of 55 goals and have scored in all of their last 23 league/cup games. BARNSLEY won 2-1 at home to Stevenage and they are on 48 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. BLACKPOOL won 3-1 at home to BRISTOL ROVERS and are on a total of 47 goals and have scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. Rovers are on a total of 39 goals and have now scored in all of their last 14 league/cup games. CHARLTON drew 1-1 at home against Barton and they are on a total of 42 goals. READING won 2-1 at home to Wigan and are on a total of 37 goals and have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games.
LEAGUE TWO
WREXHAM are still in third place after they won 2-0 at home to Newport. Wrexham are on a total of 48 goals. MK DONS won 3-1 away to Morecambe and are now on a total of 38 goals. SUTTON UNITED are still bottom of the league after they lost 2-0 at home to Mansfield Town and that is their 7th blank of the season and now two in a row.
SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Premiership top of the table CELTIC won 2-0 at home to Livingston. Celtic are on a total of 45 goals. RANGERS are in second place and now two points behind the leaders with a game in hand, after they won 2-0 away to Motherwell. Rangers are now on a total of 47 goals and have now scored in all of their last 17 league/cup games. KILMARNOCK won 2-1 at home to St Johnston and they are on a total of 31 goals.
In League One FALKIRK are still top of the table after they won 3-0 away to Anna. Falkirk are now on a total of goals. KELTY HEARTS drew 1-1 away to Hamilton and picked up goal number 37.
In League Two STENHOUSEMUIR are still top of the table after they won 2-0 at home to Elgin. Stenhousemuir are on a total of 34 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 games. CLYDE who are still bottom of the table drew 4-4 away to Dumbarton. With their biggest result of the season, Clyde are on a total of 26 goals.

Our Best performing team are still PETERBOROUGH after they have now scored in all of their 23 league/cup games. They have a total of 55 goals which gives them an average score of 1.9 goals per game.
Our worst performing team is STOKE CITY this week as they have picked up 12 blank score sheets out of their 26 league/cup games.
Our highest goal scoring team in our 41st Season are NEWCASTLE UNITED after they won 8-0 away to Sheffield United in Week Eight. BARNSLEY and BRISTOL ROVERS have both pick up our second highest score with 7 goals. Barnsley won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One. Bristol Rovers won 7-2 at home to non-league Whitby Town in the first round of the FA CUP in Week Fourteen.
JAMES SOMERVILLE becomes our 6th player to reach number one this season. James picked up a total of 10 goals from the week. James teams are Celtic, Leicester City and Peterborough. Scott Thomson (2) moves down to second place four goals behind James now. Scott picked up a total of 6 goals this weekend from his second selection of Celtic, Peterborough, Wrexham.
At the other end at 110 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) for his second weekend. John picked up just 4 goals from the weekend. John has Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir.
We had another slight change in our top ten going into Christmas.
