Week Eleven

In Week Eleven of the competition we had our second Rollover of the season worth £10. Our winner is OLIVIA HAMMOND who becomes our 11th winner of the season and the third lady to win.

Olivia is in her very first season with Golden Goals and although she is back in the top 50, in Week One was her highest position to date at 24. Olivia has picked up 2 blank weekend score sheets. Her best team is Celtic. Her winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

The race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has changed a bit from last week as it now looks like a two horse race. The fact that there was just one game and no goals, could this all change next week?

Back in the lead this week we have BARBARA BARNES (2) now with a total of 28 goals. Barbara’s teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United. Down to second place still with 27 goals we have DAVID BARRETT. In third place now we still have PHIL COLLINS but joining him are ALFIE DIMMOCK and GUY DOWSETT (1) both up from five. All are on a total of 20 goals. In fourth place we still have GUY DOWSETT (2) but he is now joined with RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 joint Champion. Both are on a total of 19 goals. In fifth place we still have ABBEY NEWMAN but joining her this week we have GRANT PHILLIPS and our 2005/06 Champions KEAMUS SETNA, all are on a total of 18 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 5 of our teams without a game over the weekend and another 11 of them failed to score any goals. Once again we had a very poor weekend for results. But the good news, if you can call it that, is that we had the average score for this weekend was of 4 goals. Well done if you have received more than that. The highest score over the weekend was 4 goals and they came from 2 of our teams. They are HEARTS and TOTTENHAM.  Here are the results for the weekend.

PREMIER LEAGUE

LIVERPOOL are still top of the table after they won 2-1 at home against CHELSEA. Both teams are on a total of 20 goals. Liverpool have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup game, while Chelsea have scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. In second place, MANCHESTER CITY won 2-1 away to Wolves and are on a total of 21 goals. City have kept their 100% scoring record after 9 league/cup games. In the London derby, TOTTENHAM won 4-1 at home to WEST HAM. Tottenham have taken their goals total to 20 and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. West Ham are on a total of 13 goals. ASTON VILLA won 3-1 away to Fulham and are now on a total of 17 goals. After they had failed to score in their last 3 games, MANCHESTER UNITED won their 3rd league game 2-1 at home to Brentford. United are on a total of 14 goals. NEWCASTLE picked up their second consecutive blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 at home to Brighton. Bottom of the table SOUTHAMPTON lost 3-2 at home to LEICESTER CITY and are on a total of 12 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Leicester are now on a total of 16 goals. IPSWICH TOWN picked up their 3rd blank score sheet after they lost 2-0 at home to Everton. AFC BOURNEMOUTH won 2-0 at home against 10 men ARSENAL and are on a total of 10 goals while Arsenal after a goal run of 8 games, picked up their first blank of the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP

BURNLEY are top of the table after they won 2-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday. Burnley are on a total of 16 goals. LUTON TOWN picked up their biggest result to date after they won 3-0 at home to Watford. Luton have taken their goals tally to 12. OXFORD UNITED drew 1-1 at home to WBA and are on a total of 16 goals. PRESTON NE won 1-0 at home to Coventry City and are on a total of 16 goals. SWANSEA CITY lost 1-0 away to Blackburn Rovers and picked up their 6th blank of the season and now 3 in a row. MIDDLESBROUGH lost 2-0 at home to Bristol City and that is their 4th blank of the season. After they had failed to score in their last 2 games, MILLWALL drew 1-1 at home to Derby and hit goal number 14. With their first win of the season, PORTSMOUTH won 2-1 away to QPR and are on a total of 11 goals. NORWICH CITY drew 1-1 away to Stoke City and are on a total of 21 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games.

LEAGUE ONE

BIRMINGHAM CITY are still top of the table after they won 3-1 away to Lincoln City. Birmingham are now on a total of 21 goals. WREXHAM are now in second place after they won 1-0 away to Rotherham. Wrexham are on a total of 21 goals. It’s 20 goals for PETERBOROUGH after they lost 3-1 away to Wycombe. BLACKPOOL lost 2-1 at home against BARNSLEY and are on a total of 24 goals. Barnsley are on 19 goals. BOLTON won 2-1 at home to Burton and are on a total of 21 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. CHARLTON drew 1-1 at home to Stockport and are on a total of 11 goals. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN won 3-1 at home to Bristol Rovers and are now on a total of 22 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

DONCASTER ROVERS are in second place after they won 2-1 away to Swindon. Rovers are on a total of 20 goals. BROMLEY lost 2-1 at home to Tranmere and are on a total of 14 goals. MK DONS won 3-1 away to Morecambe and are now on a total of 16 goals. NOTTS COUNTY won 1-0 at home to AFC WIMBLEDON and are on a total of 23 goals. Wimbledon picked up their 5th blank of the season.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership joint leaders CELTIC drew their first league game 2-2 at home to the other joint leader Aberdeen. Celtic are on a total of 32 goals and keep their 100% scoring record after 10 league/cup games. KILMARNOCK won their second league game by beating RANGERS 1-0 at home. Kilmarnock are on a total of 10 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 games. Rangers picked up their 3rd blank of the season. HEARTS picked up their biggest win of the season after they won 4-0 at home to St Mirren. Hearts have taken their goals tally to 10. DUNDEE won 1-0 away to Motherwell and are on a total of 37 goals. ROSS COUNTY lost 3-0 away to St Johnstone and picked up their 5th blank of the season.

In League One, COVE RANGERS won 2-0 at home to Queen of the South and are on a total of 19. They have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 1-0 away to Alloa and picked up their 8th blank of the season.

In League Two, top of the table EAST FIFE drew their first league game 0-0 away to Forfar and after a goal run of 11 league/cup games, have now had a total of 2 blank score sheets. CLYDE lost 3-1 away to Stirling and picked up goal number 17. PETERHEAD picked up their 5th blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 away to Stranraer. That is now 2 games without a goal.

Our best performing team is now COVE RANGERS after they have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. They have a total of 19 goals which gives them an average score of 1 goal per game.

Our worst performing team is STENHOUSEMUIR this weekend after they picked up 8th blank score sheet from 14 league/cup games. They have a total of 18 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring teams in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.

GUY DOWSETT (2) is at the top for his fourth weekend, but he only picked up 2 goals this weekend. His teams are Arsenal, Celtic and East Fife. He is now just 6 goals clear of Barbara Barnes (2) who has moved back in to second place. Barbara’s teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United.  

At the other end at 114 we still have MANDY WRIGHT with her fifth weekend. Mandy’s teams picked up 3 goals this week. Her teams are Bournemouth, West Ham and AFC Wimbledon.

It was not a very good weekend for collecting goals this week, but hope that will all change next week. Here are our top ten.
