In Week Fourteen of the competition we had our 18th winner of the season, picking up the full prize money of £5 and that went to PETER PORTER on a score of 11 goals. That is his personal best weekend score. Peter started with Golden Goals way back in the 1989/90 season on where he finished in 40th place out of 44 players with a total of 182 goals. Last season Peter finished in 99th place out of 114 with a total of 232 goals. Just under half of us picked up goals this week, which means that our top five have had a slight change again this week. WEEKEND RESULTS
We had just 2 of our teams not in action over the weekend and another 10 teams that failed to score any goals. The average score this weekend remained as last weekend's score of 6 goals. So if you picked up more than that, you have done well this weekend. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from League One where PETERBOROUGH UNITED won their biggest result of the season, 5-0 at home against AFC Wimbledon. Borough have taken their goals tally to 17 and have now scored in all of their last 5 league games.
Peterborough United became our 90th voted English team back in their first season of 1997/98. In that season they finished on a total of 73 goals. BLACKPOOL won 3-1 at home to CARDIFF CITY and are now on a total of 17 goals while Cardiff are on 31. BOLTON won 4-0 at home to Port Vale and have taken their goals tally to 28. Our highest scoring team in our 43rd Season is ROSS COUNTY. They won 8-0 at home against Edinburgh City in the first round group stages of the Scottish League Cup in Week One.
DAVID BARRETT has moved back into first place after picking up a total of 5 goals from the weekend. David has now been top for a total of 8 weeks this season. David’s teams are Celtic, Hearts and Liverpool. Hayley Adkins moves down to second place after picking up a total of 4 goals from the weekend. Hayley is just 1 goal behind David and her teams are Hearts, Liverpool and Manchester City.
At the other end at 111 we have a new name to the list as CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) makes his first weekend at the bottom. Charlie picked up just 2 goals at the weekend from his teams of Cove Rangers, East Fife and Stenhousemuir.
As you can see that we had a big change in our top ten this week as we had another good week from our teams.
