In the Championship BLACKBURN ROVERS lost 2-1 at home against BRISTOL CITY and are on a total of 33 goals. City are on a total of 54 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 1-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY and hit goal number 52 and missed the chance to go top. Leicester are on a total of 52 and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. PRESTON NE drew 1-1 away to Swansea and are on a total of 44 goals. WATFORD lost 2-0 at home to IPSWICH TOWN and picked up their 9^th blank of the season. Ipswich are on a total of 59 goals. United Move up to 4th Place

In the Premier League MANCHESTER UNITED won 1-0 away to Everton and picked up goal number 51. United have now scored in all of their last 16 league/cup games. 

In League Two WALSALL lost 2-0 at home to MK DONS and picked up their 11th blank of the season. The Dons are on a total of 69 goals and have moved up to 3rd place.

Things have changed once again since we last published our top 10 teams. Manchester City are still top with Arsenal now moving up to 3rd place. Rangers are up to 6th place with Chelsea having moved down to 7th place. Celtic remain in 8th place. Wrexham have moved into the top ten this week.

Week Twenty-Nine

In Week Twenty-Nine of the competition, we once again had two winners this weekend winning on a score of 10 goals each. One of our players picked up his third win of the season while the other one picked up his second. Our winners are ANDY EYLES and TONY GUY (3) who share the £5 Weekend Prize Money this weekend.

Andy becomes our first player to win three times this season as he won some cash last weekend as well. Andy has picked up a total of 29 goals in the last 2 weeks.

Tony becomes our fourth player to win twice and the last time that he won was a shared win in Week Twenty-Six. With this selection he has been as high as 5th place in Week Twenty-Two. Arsenal is his best team with this one. Our winners' winning teams are,

Over half of us managed to pick up some goals this week, which means that our top five have almost stayed the same as last week’s table. It was ANDY EYLES who picked up the most midweek goals with a total of 5. His teams are Arsenal, Celtic and Plymouth. Out in front again this week we have KEITH RATTLE, now with a total of 80 goals. Keith’s teams are Chelsea, Rangers and Wrexham. In second place, we still have BARBARA BARNES (1) now on a total of 74 goals. In third place, we still have SCOTT THOMSON (1) now with a total of 67 goals. In fourth place we still have RICHIE WILLIAMS but he is now joined by TONY GUY (3) who has moved up from five. Both are on a total of 66 goals. In fifth place we still have MICHAEL FISHER with a total of 64 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 5 of our teams without a game this weekend, plus we had another 10 of our teams that failed to score any goals. Although we had a really good weekend last week with plenty of goals, this weekend was a bit slack on the goals front. The average score was six goals last weekend but this weekend it went down to just 4 goals. Well done if your teams picked up more than that. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and we had four of our teams to reach that score. Top of the table ARSENAL beat London rivals TOTTENHAM 4-1 away to take their goals tally to 73 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. Tottenham are on 41 goals. MANCHESTER CITY are still in 2nd place after they won 2-1 at home to NEWCASTLE UNITED and are on a total of 80 goals. Newcastle picked up their 53rd goal of the season. In 3rd place, ASTON VILLA drew 1-1 at home to Leeds Utd and are on a total of 42 goals. In 4th place CHELSEA drew 1-1 at home to Burnley and are on a total of 68 goals. Manchester United are in 5th place while LIVERPOOL are in 6th place. They won 1-0 away to NOTTINGHAM FOREST and are on a total of 51 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. Forest picked up their 13th blank of the season and now two games without a goal. After they had failed to score in their last 3 games, BRIGHTON won 2-0 away to Brentford and are on a total of 50 goals. WEST HAM UNITED, who are third from bottom, drew 0-0 at home to AFC BOURNEMOUTH and after they had scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games, picked up their 9th blank of the season. Bournemouth after they had a goal run of 12 league/cup games, picked up their 6th blank of the season. CRYSTAL PALACE won 1-0 at home to bottom of the table WOLVES and are on a total of 35 goals. CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDDLESBROUGH are still in 2nd place after they drew 0-0 at home to Oxford Utd. After a goal run of 8 games, Brough Picked up their 9th blank of the season.

In the Play-offs we still have two of the four teams this weekend as IPSWICH TOWN remain in 4th place, after they lost 5-3 away to WREXHAM. Ipswich are now on a total of 57 goals while Wrexham have moved up to 6th place and have taken their goals tally to 64 goals.

LEAGUE ONE

Top of the table CARDIFF CITY have lost their sixth league game, 5-2 away to PLYMOUTH. Cardiff are on a total of 70 goals and they have now extended their goal run to 21 league/cup games. Plymouth have taken their goals tally to 53 goals and have extended their goal run to 15 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs, we still have three of the four teams with BOLTON WANDERERS still in 3rd place after they drew 2-2 at home to BLACKPOOL. Top of the table BROMLEY drew 0-0 to Harrogate and after a goal run of 6 league/cup games, picked up their 5th blank of the season. With their biggest win of the season, NOTTS COUNTY have moved up to 3rd place after they won 5-0 at home to Tranmere and have now taken their goals tally up to 54 goals.

In the Play-offs, we now have all four teams with SWINDON TOWN moving down from three to 4th place after they lost 2-1 at home to CREWE. Swindon are on a total of 65 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 13 games. Crewe are on a total of 52 goals and are now in 6th place. Mk Dons remained in 5th place after they had no game over the weekend. CHESTERFIELD have moved up to 7th place after they drew 1-1 away to Crawley and are on a total of 54 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games.

In the Championship AYR UNITED drew 0-0 at home to ROSS COUNTY and picked up their 8th blank of the season. County, who are bottom of the table, picked up their 11th blank of the season and now two in a row.

Week Twenty-Eight

In Week Twenty-Eight of the competition, we had two winners this weekend winning on a score of 11 goals, but one of our players picked up his second win of the season. The other player picks up his first win of the season, which now brings our winner’s total to 36. Our winners are ANDY EYLES and ZIGGY (John Wood) who share the £5 Weekend Prize Money this weekend.

Andy last won some cash in Week Twenty-Two with a share of the Christmas Jackpot. Since then not much has happened to Andy, although this weekend is his personal best. 10th is still his best position with Arsenal being his best team.

Ziggy started with Golden Goals back in the 2010/11 season, when John had his second selection. In that season Ziggy finished in 108th place out of 109 with a total of 190 goals. Last season he finished in 41st place with 277 goals. This season, we can see Ziggy at his highest position to date. He has picked up three blank weekend score sheets. The Start of the FA Cup 4th Round

In the start of the FA CUP 4th Round we had just three of our teams in action and two have made it through to the next round. They are CHELSEA who won 4-0 away to Hull City and have taken their goals tally to 67 goals. WREXHAM won 1-0 at home to IPSWICH TOWN and are on a total of 57 goals. Ipswich, after a goal run of 8 league/cup games, picked up their 5th blank of the season.

It's Tough at the Top

In the Premier League top of the table ARSENAL are now just 4 points clear of Manchester City after they drew 1-1 away to Brentford. Arsenal are on a total of 63 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Arsenal have now had just two wins in their last six league games.

Manchester City keep up the pressure

In the Premier League, second place MANCHESTER CITY won 3-0 at home to Fulham and are now on a total of 76 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. It’s 40 goals for third place ASTON VILLA as they win 1-0 at home against BRIGHTON. Brighton picked up their 7th blank of the season and are now 2 games without a goal. NOTTINGHAM FOREST drew 0-0 at home to bottom of the table WOLVES. Forest have picked up their 12th blank of the season while Wolves picked up their 14th. CRYSTAL PALACE lost 3-2 at home to Burnley and are on a total of 34 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. SUNDERLAND lost 1-0 at home to LIVERPOOL and picked up their 10th blank of the season and now 2 in a row. Liverpool are on a total of 47 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games.

In League Two SWINDON TOWN have moved up to second place after they won 2-0 at home to Newport. Swindon are on a total of 61 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. 

In the Scottish Premiership, second placed RANGERS drew 1-1 away to Motherwell and are on a total of 63 goals. CELTIC won 2-1 at home to Livingston and are on a total of 61 goals. Celtic have extended their goal run to 8 league/cup games.

Manchester United Remain 4th

In the Premier League CHELSEA drew 2-2 at home to Leeds Utd and are on a total of 63 goals. AFC BOURNEMOIUTH won 2-1 away to Everton and are on a total of 46 goals and have extended their goal run to 12 league/cup games. It’s 40 goals for TOTTENHAM after they lost 2-1 at home to NEWCASTLE UNITED. Newcastle are on a total of 49 goals. WEST HAM UNITED drew 1-1 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED and hit goal number 36. They have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. United picked up their 50th goal of the season and have now extended their goal run to 15 league/cup games. 

In the Championship, LEICESTER CITY lost 4-3 at home to SOUTHAMPTON and are now on a total of 48 goals. Southampton have taken their goals tally to 56 and they have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. NORWICH CITY won 3-0 away to Oxford Utd and are now on a total of 49 goals. After a goal run of 7 league/cup games, BIRMINGHAM CITY picked up their 8th blank of the season as they drew 0-0 at home to West Brom. 

In League One PETERBORUGH UNITED won 2-1 away to Mansfield and are on a total of 47 goals. 

Scottish Premiership, top of the table HEARTS won 1-0 at home against HIBERNIAN and are on a total of 66 goals. Hibs picked up their 9th blank of the season. 

In League Two CLYDE drew 1-1 at home to Elgin City and are on a total of 42 goals and have extended their goal run to 10 league/cup games. DUMBARTON lost 1-0 away to Annan and picked up their 7th blank of the season and now 2 games without a goal.

Week Twenty-Seven

In Week Twenty-Seven of the competition, we had our second player to have won twice this season. Our winner is RICHIE WILLIAMS who won the full £5 Weekend Prize Money. Richie has won on a score of 14 goals which is our highest number of goals to win by and his personal best weekend result. Richie last won with a shared win in Week Four with just 6 goals. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Just over half of us managed to pick up some goals this week, which means that our top five have almost stayed the same as last week’s. We can add another 9 players to the race for the cash this week, which brings our total to 29 players who have reached the halfway mark to 100. It was our 2012/13 Champions that picked up the most midweek goals with 8. That was ALICE STUBBS with her second combination with teams of Chelsea, Rangers and Sunderland. Out in front this week we have KEITH RATTLE, now with a total of 70 goals. Keith’s teams are Chelsea, Rangers and Wrexham. In second place, down from one we now have BARBARA BARNES (1) now on a total of 68 goals. In third place, down from two we have SCOTT THOMSON (1) still with a total of 62 goals. In fourth place we still have EMMAF and TONY GUY (3) but joining them this week we have MICHAEL FISHER down from three with PHIL COLLINS moving up from five. STALKY (2) comes back in the race. All are on a total of 58 goals. In fifth place we have JOHN FILTNESS our joint 2023/24 Champion moving down from four with LUCIFER and RICHIE WILLIAMS now in the race. All are on a total of 57 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 8 of our teams without a game this weekend, plus we had another 10 of our teams that failed to score any goals. The average score was six goals last weekend but this weekend it went down slightly to 5 goals. Well done if your teams picked up more than that. The highest score over the weekend was 8 goals and they came from the SCOTTISH CUP 4th Round where RANGERS picked up their biggest result of the season by winning 8-0 at home to Queen’s Park. Rangers have scored a total of 13 goals this week, which has taken their goals tally up to 62 goals.

Rangers started with Golden Goals in our first season of 1983/84 where they finished on a score of 97 goals. They were our 4th voted Scottish team then. Their highest end of season score came in the 1992/93 season with 126 goals. Rangers have scored 100 or more goals in 18 of their 42 seasons to date. Last season they finished on a total of 95 goals. Over the years Rangers have netted a total of 4069 goals to date which gives them an average score of 96 goals per season. We still have the top six teams here this week with ARSENAL still top after they won 3-0 at home to SUNDERLAND.  Arsenal are on a total of 62 goals. Sunderland picked up their 9th blank of the season. In second place we still have MANCHESTER CITY who won 2-1 away to LIVERPOOL. City are on a total of 73 goals while Liverpool are on 46 and a goal run of 5 league/cup games. In third place we still have ASTON VILLA drew 1-1 away to AFC BOURNEMOUTH and picked up goal number 39. Bournemouth are on 44 goals and have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. In fourth place we still have MANCHESTER UNITED won 2-0 at home against TOTTENHAM. United are now on a total of 49 goals and have now scored in all of their last 14 league/cup games. Tottenham, after a goal run of 6 league/cup games, picked up their 6th blank of the season. CHELSEA are still in fifth place after they won 3-1 away to bottom of the table WOLVES and are now on a total of 61 goals. Wolves, after they had failed to score in their last three games, are now on a total of 30 goals. WEST HAM won 2-0 away to Burnley and are on a total of 35 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. CHAMPIONSHIP

Middlesbrough are still in 2nd place even after they had no game, over the weekend.

Top of the table CARDIFF CITY won 3-0 away to Rotherham and are now on a total of 65 goals and have now scored in all of their last 18 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs, we still have three of the four teams with BOLTON WANDERERS still in 3rd place after they won 3-2 at home to Barnsley. Bolton are now on a total of 46 goals. STOCKPORT COUNTY are still in 4th place after they drew 0-0 at home to LEYTON ORIENT. County after they had scored in all of their last 5 games, picked up their 7th blank of the season. Orient picked up their 10th blank scoresheet and now three in a row. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN have moved up to 5th place after they drew 2-2 at home to BLACKPOOL and are on a total of 57 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Blackpool are on 43 goals.

Meanwhile, LUTON TOWN won 2-1 at home to Bradford and are on a total of 46 goals. With their biggest result of the season, PETERBOROUGH UNITED won 6-1 at home to Wigan. Borough have taken their goals tally up to 45 goals. PLYMOUTH lost 4-1 at home to Lincoln and are on a total of 41 goals and have extended their goal run to 12 league/cup games. WYCOMBE WANDERERS won 4-0 at home against Doncaster and have taken their goals total to 47.

LEAGUE TWO

Top of the table BROMLEY won 2-1 away to Fleetwood and are on a total of 57 goals. In 2nd place this week we have NOTTS COUNTY who won 2-1 at home against Barrow and are on a total of 48 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. In 3rd place is SWINDON TOWN who won 3-0 at home to Oldham. Swindon are now on a total of 59 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 games.

In the Play-offs, we now have just two of the four teams with MK DONS still in 4th place after they won 3-2 away to Cheltenham. The Dons are now on a total of 66 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 games. WALSALL are still in 7th place after they lost 3-1 at home to BARNET are on a total of 44 goals while Barnet are on 43 goals. 

Meanwhile, CREWE won 1-0 away to Crawley and are on a total of 49 goals. CHESTERFIELD won 3-2 away to Bristol Rovers and are now on a total of 51 goals. GILLINGHAM won 2-1 at home to Tranmere and are on a total of 43 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the SCOTTISH CUP 5th Round we had just three of our teams in cup action, one of them is Rangers, and how lucky were CELTIC scoring a very, very late goal to equalise with Dundee 1-1 after the 90-minute period. Celtic went on to win in extra time 2-1. Celtic are on 59 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR go out after they lost 2-0 away to Falkirk after extra time. That is their 10th blank of the season after a goal run of 5 league/cup games.

In League One, Stenhousemuir are still in 2nd place after they played in the cup this weekend. EAST FIFE lost 3-0 away to Inverness CT and picked up their 9th blank of the season. COVE RANGERS drew 1-1 at home to Queen of the South and are on a total of 32 goals.

In League Two, Clyde are still in 3rd place after they had no game over the weekend. DUMBARTON lost 2-0 away to Forfar and picked up their 6th blank of the season.

Our highest scoring team in our 43rd season is MANCHESTER CITY. They won 10-1 at home against Exeter City in the FA CUP 3rd Round, in Week Twenty-Three.

We still have GRAHAM PHILLIPS at the top again this weekend, which now makes it his 3rd weekend and now five over the season. Hayley Adkins keeps her second place spot this weekend as she picks up a total of 6 goals from her teams this week. Hayley’s teams are Hearts, Liverpool and Manchester City.
