Arsenal Missed Chance

ARSENAL missed out on catching up with Manchester City last night as they lost 1-0 at home to Swansea. If they had won they would have been on equal points with City’s 73 and they would still have a game in hand.  The blank score sheet now give Arsenal a total of four to date.

In the League One Play-off second leg game between Swindon and SHEFFIELD UNITED what a game both sets of fans had. Swindon won the first leg 2-1 and last night they drew 5-5 with United.

Swindon wins this round on an aggregate score of 7-6. With their biggest score of the season,
Sheffield United finished on a grand total of 91 goals. Swindon will be playing Preston in the final.

Week Forty

We are now playing in injury time and what a week we have had with our last remaining teams in action. Barbara Barnes’s second combination picked up the highest score over the weekend with 11 goals. They came from Man City 6, Preston 3 and Rangers 2. Only one of us failed to collect any goals over the weekend and that was John Nicholls.

This weekend we had just the English and Scottish Premiership playing with a full fixture. The highest score that we had came from the English Prem where MANCHESTER CITY won 6-0 at home to poor old QUEENS PARK RANGERS.
City have now taken their goals tally to 86 goals while Rangers picked up their 14^th blank of the season and now just one goal in their last four games. They are also relegated down to the Championship.

PREMIERSHIP
Champions CHELSEA are now just eleven points clear of Manchester City in second place as they drew 1-1 at home to LIVERPOOL. That was Chelsea’s 86^th goal of the season while Liverpool hit goal number 66. Arsenal are third with MANCHESTER UNITED still in fourth place as they won 2-1 away to CRYSTAL PALACE. United are now on 70 goals while Palace picked up goal number 56 after a three game dry spell for goals. TOTTENHAM picked up their 11^th blank and now two games in a row as they lost 3-0 away to Stoke. EVERTON lost 2-0 at home to Sunderland and that was their 12^th blank of the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP-PLAY-OFF
We have just one of our teams here in the play-off and they are NORWICH. They had to play Ipswich in the first leg away and drew 1-1. That was their 92^nd goal of the season. In the other game Brentford lost 2-1 at home to Middlesbrough.

LEAGUE ONE-PLAY-OFF
We have two of the four teams here and after winning their first leg game against Chesterfield during the week, PRESTON made sure of the 2^nd leg and won 3-0. Preston won 4-0 on aggregate but who will they be playing in the final, Swindon or SHEFFIELD UNITED? Preston are now on a total of  97 goals.

LEAGUE TWO-PLAY-OFF
Just one out of four in this one and they are STEVENAGE. They drew their first leg game 1-1 at home to Southend and picked up goal number 64. In the other game, Wycombe won 3-2 away to Plymouth.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES                                                                                                           
In Scotland Champions CELTIC won 1-0 away to Aberdeen and picked up goal number 105. In the Premiership Play-off RANGERS won their 1^st leg game against Queen Of  South 2-1 away. Rangers are now on a total of 83 goals. In the League One Play-off, STENHOUSEMUIR won their 2^nd leg game against East Fife 3-1 at home after extra time to win 4-2 on aggregate. Stenhousemuir are now on 51 goals. Stenhousemuir will play Queen’s Park in the final lst leg on Wednesday night.

QUEENS PARK RANGERS are still our worst team this weekend after they lost 6-0 away to Manchester City at the weekend. Rangers have now had a total of 14 blank score sheets.

WIGAN have picked up the most number of blank score sheets this season with a total of 22 after playing a total of 48 games this season.

HEARTS have picked up the highest score for this season with a 10-0 home win against Cowdenbeath in the league.

Manchester City had that record breaking end of season score of 137 goals last season. In Week forty last season, City picked up four goals in midweek and another two goals at the weekend. They are now on a total of 137 goals for the season after forty-nine games played. They have had four blank score sheet’s and their highest score was seven goals against Norwich in the league.
This season they picked up the six goals at the weekend. City are now on a total of 86 goals this weekend and they have had a total of five blank score sheet after thirty-nine games played. They are still 51 goals behind last seasons record run.

JOHN NICHOLLS  has moved back into that number 106 position after he failed to pick up any goals this week from his combination of Bristol City, Everton and Wigan. With a total of 192 goals this weekend and with just Everton left in action, John is still has our fifth best loser’s score to date.

At the Top TOBY BICKNELL is in 22^nd place this weekend. Toby with a  score of 302 goals picked up just five goals for the week. His combination is Celtic, Derby and Preston.

League One Play-off's

In the English League One 1^st leg play-off’s, we have two of the four team’s trying to win a place in the Championship for next season. PRESTON could be that team as they win 1-0 away to Chesterfield to take their goals total to 94. In the other game, SHEFFIELD UNITED lost their first game 2-1 at home to Swindon. United are now on 86 goals.

Stenhousemuir Still With A Chance

STENHOUSEMUIR are still in with a chance to stay up in the Scottish League One last night after they drew their first leg game 1-1 away to East Fife. That was Stenhousemuir’s 48^th goal of the season. Their second lag game is to be played on Saturday. They have just one vote this season.

Arsenal Continue To Pick Up Points

On Bank Holiday Monday night here in the UK ARSENAL remained in third place in the Premiership after they won 3-1 away to Hull. Arsenal are now on a total of 78 goals with three games left to play.

Week Thirty-Nine

Our last full league fixture of 2014/15 gave us an average score of just three goals each. Although we had some teams that picked up their highest score of the season for a while, six people failed to pick up any goals from their combinations this weekend. The reason for that is that ten of our teams did not score any goals.
The highest score that we had came from League One where League Champions, BRISTOL CITY picked up their highest score of the season with a 8-2 thrashing of Walsall at home. City have finished on a grand total of 103 goals.
This is their 13^th season with Golden Goals and they were one of our original teams from our very first season where they finished on a total of 79 goals. Their highest score was 80 goals from last season, so this is a record for Bristol City. They now become our 37^th team in 32 years to score100 or more goals and they are now in 28^th place in the 100 Goals Club.
City have scored a total of 962 goals over the seasons and that gives them an average score of 74 goals per season.

 

PREMIERSHIP
Champions CHELSEA won just 1-0 at home to London rivals CRYSTAL PALACE to take their goals tally to 85 while Palace picked up their 13^th blank and now three games with out a goal. MANCHESTER CITY in second place, picked up goal number 80as they win 1-0 away to TOTTENHAM. Spurs have now had a total of ten blank score sheets. MANCHESTER UNITED in fourth place lost 1-0 at home to West Brom and that was their 9^th blank and no goals in their last three games. LIVERPOOL won2-1 at home to QUEENS PARK RANGERS and they are now on 65 goals after a two game dry spell for goals. Rangers are now on 39 goals. EVERTON are on 49 goals as they lost 3-2 away to Aston Villa.
 
CHAMPIONSHIP
WATFORD drew 1-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday which means that they have finished second to Bournemouth in their final game. Watford finished on 92 goals. In the play-off zone we have ended up with just NORWICH playing in them after they won 4-2 at home to FULHAM. Norwich are on 91 goals while Fulham finished on 72 goals. DERBY fell out of the zone after they lost 3-0 at home to READING. Derby picked up blank number nine with 100 goals. Reading finished on 61 goals. WOLVES won 4-2 at home to Millwall to finish on 75 goals while WIGAN picked up blank number twenty-two after they lost 3-0 away to Brentford and are relegated to League One. They finished on just 40 goals. CHARLTON picked up their 14^th blank of the season as they lost 3-0 at home to Champions Bournemouth. LEEDS drew their last game 0-0 with ROTHERHAM and picked up a total of fourteen blank score sheets while Rotherham picked up eighteen. NOTTINGHAM FOREST finished on 75 goals as they lost 2-1 at home to CARDIFF who finished on a total of 66 goals.

 

LEAGUE ONE
As stated BRISTOL CITY are Champions after that fantastic win against Walsall. In second place came MK DONS as they win 5-1 at home against Yeovil. The dons finished on a grand total of 115 goals which beats their best score of 105 goals back in our 2007/08 Season. We have two teams in the play-off zone who are PRESTON and after they scored in all of their 35 games it all came to the end as they lost 1-0 away to Colchester to pick up their 3^rd blank of the season. SHEFFIELD UNITED are also there as they drew1-1 at home to Chesterfield. That was United’s 85^th goal of the season. BARNSLEY won 5-0 at home to Rochdale to finish on a total of 70 goals while COVENTRY finished on 51 goals after they won 2-1 away to Crawley. DONCASTER won 5-2 at home to SCUNTHORPE and finished on 68 goals while Scunthorpe end on 69. PETERBOROUGH drew their last game 1-1 away to Oldham to finish on 55 goals. LEYTON ORIENT drew 2-2 away to Swindon and finished on 63 goals but they are relegated to League Two.
 
LEAGUE TWO
BURY finished third in the league as they win 1-0 away to Tranmere. Bury finished to a total of 66 goals. In the play-off zone we have just one team and they are STEVENAGE as they lost 2-0 away to LUTON. That was their 14^th blank while Luton finished on 62 goals. PORTSMOUTH finished on 55 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to York.

 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES                                                                                                           
In Scotland Champions CELTIC had no game at the weekend while RANGERS in the Championship, could only draw again 2-2 away to Champions HEARTS. Rangers are on 81 goals while Hearts finished on 98 goals. DUNFERMLINE lost 3-2 away to Airdrie and finished on 59 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR are on 47 as they lost 3-2 away to Stirling and have ended up in the play-offs for League One.

With a total of 192 goals this weekend, Phil has moved up to our fifth best loser’s score and he still has all of his combination left playing. Phil has had a total of seven blank score sheets to date.

 

At the Top TOBY BICKNELL is moving up our Winners League into 22^nd place this weekend. Toby has beaten R. Wood/G. Eyei 2007/08 score of 293 goals and Tony Axford's score of 279 final score back in our 1991/92 Season.

CELTIC Are Third

In the Scottish Premiership, Champions CELTIC won 5-0 on last Friday night against Dundee  at home and that was their highest score for quite a while this season. Celtic are now on a total of 104 goals which means that they are now our third team in our 32^nd Season to have scored 100 or more goals. They follow MK Dons and Derby in the race to be the highest scoring team for this season.
