Arsenal Win First Game

The first English premiership game has now been played between ARSENAL and LEICESTER CITY. They were one goal each in the first five minutes of them game and Arsenal had to come back with two goals in the last ten minutes to win 4-3.

In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC picked up their lowest score of the season with a 1-0 away win over Partick. After three games, Celtic are now on 10 goals. Last season it was not until week nine that they picked up their first single goal of the season after a run of eight games.

Sunderland in Next Round of Cup

The very last league cup first round games have now been played and it’s another one of our teams that go through to the next round. That team was SUNDERLAND that won 1-0 away to Bury to give them their second goal of the season.

Scottish League Cup Part Two

In the Scottish League Cup, we have three of our eight teams through to the third round. RANGERS are through with a 6-1 home win over Dunfermline. With their highest score to date, Rangers have now netted 8 goals in two games. ABERDEEN will be joining them as they win 1-0 away to Hamilton. That was their third goal of the new season.

League Cup Part two

We had another seven of our teams in cup action and out of them five of our Golden Goals teams have made it through to the second round of the league cup.
The highest score from last night’s games came from LEEDS UTD where they won 4-1 at home to PORT VALE. Leeds take their goals total to 7 goals in two games. Port Vale are now on 4 goals. ASTON VILLA are through as they win 2-1 away to COLCHESTER to take their goals total to three while Colchester are on two.
BOLTON take their goals tally up to four as they win 2-1 away to Crewe. BURTON ALBION have picked up their first goals of the season with a 3-2 away win over Oldham. SHEFFIELD UTD won 3-2 at home to Walsall and that now gives them a total of four goals.

Watch Out Here Comes Celtic

CELTIC was our most voted team last season with 69 votes. This season they have broken all records with 113 votes. Celtic finished with that fantastic score of 134 goals which beat their previous record of 122 goals scored back in our 2000/01 Season. Over the years, Celtic have had sixteen seasons with 100 or more goals scored by the end of the season and seven of them have been in the last consecutive seasons.
They are now in their 35th season with Golden Goals and they have started off their campaign very well.
Last season they had scored in all of their forty-seven league and two domestic cup competitions games giving them an average score of 2.8 goals per game. Over the 34 seasons, they have scored a total of 3303 goals which gives them an average score of 97 goals per season.

With just two games in this season with one league game and one cup game, Celtic have now scored nine goals. At this stage last season they had netted seven goals. So we here at the Golden Goals HQ will be keeping an eye on them and let you know how they are doing.

Scottish League Cup Second Round

We had just two of our Scottish teams in cup action where CELTIC won 5-0 at home to Kilmarnock and a place in the next round. Celtic have now scored 9 goals in two games. The other team to play was FALKIRK. They did very well in their first round group games but it all came to the end when they were beaten 2-1 at home after extra time by Livingston. Falkirk remain our best scoring team with 15 goals in six games.

League Cup First Round

We have had the first games of the League Cup First Round and we had some great results. Out of the twenty-seven teams that we had in action, fifteen have made it through to the second round.
The highest score of the night went to BIRMINGHAM CITY as they won 5-1 at home to Crawley Town. They are Birmingham’s first goals of the season.
Other teams that went through are BRENTFORD by beating AFC Wimbledon 3-1 after extra time. They are also their first goals for Brentford. DONCASTER won 3-2 away to BRADFORD and are now on the score sheet while Bradford takes their goals total to four this season. CARDIFF won 2-1 at home against PORTSMOUTH after extra time which now gives both teams a total of 3 goals each. BLACKBURN are now on 4 goals as they beat COVENTRY 3-1 away. Coventry are also on 4 goals. After going a goal down, CHARLTON beat EXETER 2-1 away to give them 3 goals and Exeter have two. MK DONS had to beat new boys FOREST GREEN 1-0 after extra time. as the Dons pick up their first goal of the season, Forest Green pick up their first blank score sheet. IPSWICH are now on 3 goals as they win 2-0 away to LUTON. After their eight goals at the weekend, Luton picked up their first blank of the season. NORWICH won 3-2 at home to Swindon and they are now on a total of four goals. QUEENS PARK RANGERS are on three goals after they won 1-0 at home to Northampton. READING have picked up their first goals of the season as they win 2-0 at home to Gillingham. SCUNTHORPE are through after they drew 3-3 after extra time to win 6-5 on penalties against Notts County. Scunthorpe are now on a total of four goals. WIGAN won 2-1 at home to Blackpool and they are now on three goals. WOLVES picked up their second goal of the season as they won 1-0 at home to Yeovil. FULHAM won 2-0 away to Wycombe and they are also on three goals.

Other teams that went out of the cup were PLYMOUTH who lost 5-0 away to Bristol City to pick up their first blank score sheet and FLEETWOOD TOWN are out as they lost 2-1 at home to Carlisle after extra time. Fleetwood are on three goals. MANSFIELD lost 1-0 away to Rochdale and that was their first blank score sheet. PETERBOROUGH may be on three goals but they lost 3-1 at home to Barnet. LINCOLN CITY are out as they lost 2-1 away to Rotherham. Lincoln are on three goals. SOUTHEND picked up their first blank score sheet as they lost 2-0 at home to Newport.
