Our 32nd Season has ended on a total of 106 entries which is better than last season but we failed to beat our 1999/00 total of 111. We will beat this record one day.
We last
reported that Manchester
City was picking up the most number
of votes, and they did finish as our highest voted team with 54 votes out of 106.
I can see why all of the 54 have gone for City especially after their last
season’s record goal total of 137 goals. A long way off was Manchester United in second place with 28 votes. Third was Chelsea
with 24 and then Arsenal with 22.
Luton Town are back into the football league and back into Golden
Goals with 3 votes. Luton was our second most voted team, after
Liverpool back in the very first season of Golden Goals. We last saw Luton on
our pages back in our 2007/08 Season where they finished on a total of 56
goals. Their best score with us was 98 goals from our 2001/02 Season. Their
worst was back in our 1992/93 Season with 55 goals.
Derby
are back with us with 15 votes. They last played in our 2008/09 Season with 78
goals. Their best was in their first season with Golden Goals with 104 goals. Fulham are also back. They were in our first season and we
last saw them in our 2008/09 Season with 51 goals. Their best was in our
2000/01 Season with 105 goals. Barnsley will be making their fifth appearance with
us. They last played in our 2002/03 Season and finished on their lowest score
of 53 goals. The best that they have done was in their very first season of
1998/99 with 79 goals.
With our
Scottish teams, Celtic
came out the most voted team with the same as last season with 41
votes. Rangers
followed a close second with 40. We have just five Scottish teams this season
and we welcome back Dunfermline with 3 votes. They last played in our
2007/08 Season with 38 goals which is their lowest score to date. Their beat
score of 83 goals were scored in their first season of our 1994/95. We have not
seen Hearts
for a while in fact their last outing was back in our 2006/07 Season with 55
goals. Their best score is 92 back in our 1987/88 Season. Our other team is Stenhousemuir.
Now we know that we have had a lot of visitors to our blog,
so if you had been following last season’s competition, then you will know what
this blog is all about. It’s just a shame that no-one out in the big wide world
joined in with all the fun.
Next up the first round of the League Cup.
