Week Ten

Not much has happened over the week here with Golden Goals but with the few games that have been played over the weekend, there as been a bit of a change in the table.
DANIEL GOODSON is at the top again for his third weekend. Daniel’s combination of  teams did not have any games this week but he has now picked up his second blank of the season.  His teams are Manchester City, Middlesbrough and Rangers and he is  still three goal clear of  TOM MACDONALD who also had now games this week.

At the other end, JOHN NICHOLLS is in his ninth weekend at number 119 as his combination also had no games this week. John also picks up his second blank at the weekends. His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and  Newcastle.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
With no games at all for our Golden Goals teams this week, the race for the cash remains the same as last weeks.CRAIG EVANS is in the lead this week but none of his teams were in action in midweek. His teams are  Hearts, Manchester City and Middlesbrough. Craig has a total of 34 goals. In joint second place both with 31 goals we have DANIEL GOODSON and MICK LIDDLE. BARBARA BARNES (2) and TONY KING are still in third place both on 29 goals. In fourth place is TOM MACDONALD and JAMES HUNTER both are on 28 goals In fifth place on 27 goals is MARK HOWARD In sixth place we have CHRIS SETFORD on 26 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS                       
Only thirty of you managed to pick up some more goals this weekend with only sixteen of our teams that did manage to play, only two failed to net any goals.
Our highest score came from League One where SCUNTHORPE picked up their highest score of the season by winning 4-2 away to Oldham. Scunthorpe have only one vote again this season and they are now on 14 goals.
Scunthorpe are in their seventh season with Golden Goals and they first appeared in our 2002/03 Season finishing on a total of 76 goals which is their highest score to date. They have been in the last six seasons with us with the last two ending on a score of 69 goals. They have netted a total of 393 goals over the years which gives them an average score of 56 goals per season to date.

LEAGUE ONE
BURTON ALBION have moved down to second place this weekend as they lost 2-0 away to Walsall who go top. Burton have picked up their third blank of the season and they have now netted just one goal in their last three games. SHEFFIELD UNITED have moved up to sixth place as they 3-2 at home to Rochdale. United are now on 22 goals. WIGAN drew 2-2 away to Bury and that now gives them a total of 17 goals. SOUTHEND picked up their 12th goal of the season as they win 1-0 at home to PORT VALE. Port Vale picked up their 6th blank score sheet of the season. PETERBOROUGH won 2-1 away to SWINDON and that gives them a total of 26 goals to Swindon’s 18. CHESTERFIELD are on 17 as they lost 3-1 at home to Gillingham.

LEAGUE TWO
We have just the top two teams here this weekend with PLYMOUTH still on top as they win 2-0 away to Notts County. Plymouth are now on 21 goals. Up to second place we have PORTSMOUTH as they win 3-1 away to Cambridge. Portsmouth are now on a total of 23 goals. LEYTON ORIENT are right down to seventh place this weekend as they 3-2 away to Crawley.  Orient are now on 23 goals. It’s 26 goals for LUTON as they drew 1-1 at home to York. And what a game this must have been as STEVENAGE who have not scored in their last three games, drew 3-3 away to EXETER. This is their highest score of the season and they are now on 15 goals while Exeter are now on 24.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
We had just one of our Scottish teams in action over the weekend. They were QUEEN OF THE SOUTH from the Championship. They won 1-0 at home to Morton and that gives them their 14th goal of the season after a two game dry spell for goals. 

OUR BEST THREE TEAMS ARE THIS WEEKEND

RANGERS (40) CELTIC (27) LUTON (26)  Total of 93 goals

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE

WATFORD (6) BLACKPOOL (9) LIVERPOOL (9) Total of 24 goals

Our worst team this week is still WATFORD as they have picked up five blank score sheets out of nine games played. They have scored four goals in their last four games played.  

Our Best team this weekend is still RANGERS after scoring in all of their twelve League/Cup games played they are on a total of 40 goals which is an average of three goals per game.

We have had two high scoring teams in our 33rd Season from the Scottish Premiership CELTIC won 6-0 at home to Dundee in a league game in week seven while MANCHESTER CITY can add their name to the list as they won 6-1 at home to Newcastle in the League in week nine.

We still have just  teams left that still have a 100% scoring record. They are MANCHESTER CITY, WEST HAM, and and RANGERS

Here is how our top ten is looking this weekend. This could all change again by the next one.
