It’s Week Twenty-Three of Season 34 and we
had three winners who shared the £6 cash weekend jackpot on a score of 8 goals.
They are SILVIA FERNANDES, MICK LIDDLE and PHIL REEVE. Each of the
three winners will pick up a total of £2 each. One of the winners are with
their second win of the season with the other two being first time winners
which takes our winners total to twenty-eight.
Our two time Champion Phil Reeve has picked up his second shared win for the
second weekend running. He had a slice of the
Christmas mega jackpot of £32 last weekend and now he picks up another couple
of quid. He becomes the third player to win twice this season. Last season he finished in 108th place on 222
goals. This season he has picked up a total of three blank score sheets and
this is his highest position to date after picking up a total of 26 goals in
the past two weeks.
Silvia has been with us since 20013/14 Season where she finished in the winning
frame in 22nd place on a total of 302 goals taking home just under
£8 including one weekend win. Last Season Silvia finished in 92nd
place on 233 goals. This season she has picked up a total of five blank score
sheets and this is her highest position to date.
Mick has been with Golden Goals for twenty years now
and he started way back in our 1996/97 Season where he finished in 92nd
place on 206 goals. Last season Mick finished in 60th place on a
total of 251 goals. This season although he has only picked up two blank score
sheets over the weekend his combination has not been very kind to him. 120 is
the highest that Mick has been to date. Below are our winners combinations

MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
All but eight
of us managed to pick up some more goals this week with the highest score that
we had was 12 goals and we had two players to pick them up. They are JOHN DOVE and LUCY POULTON. Both had
Arsenal with three goals and Manchester City with seven goals from their two
games. John’s third team is Tottenham
while Lucy has Manchester United.
So once
again this week we see a little change in the race for the cash this weekend as
DARYL NICHOLLS is still in the lead with a total of 81 goals. In second place we still have
DANIEL GOODSON on 77 goals but he is
now joined with GRANT PHILLIPS up
from three. In joint third place both on 76 goals we still have MANGO and CHRIS SETFORD. In fourth place we have DAVID SMITHERS and up from
five is STALKY (2) both on a total of 74 goals.
Straight in at number five is ANDY EYLES
on 73 goals while in sixth place on 72 is JOHN
DAVIES.
The good news this
weekend is that we now have a total of eighty-three players that are now over
the 50 goals mark.
WEEKEND
RESULTS
We had thirty-eight
of our teams in action over the weekend and most of them played in the FA CUP Third Round.
Out of the
teams that played, nine failed to score any goals and so for the second weekend
for 2017 the average score remained at just 3 goals. The highest score that we
had over the weekend was just five goals and we had two teams that picked that
total up. BRENTFORD picked up five
goals in their third round FA Cup
game against non-league team Eastleigh. With the result at 5-1 by half time, I
thought that this was going to be our biggest score of the season but it was
not to be. The five goals takes Brentfords goal tally to 37. Brentford are in
their fifteenth Season with Golden Goals and they are one of our
original teams from the 1983/84 Season. They are our 9th votes team.
Their highest score came in 1998/99 with 95 goals and last season they finished
on a total of 72. Over the season they have now scored a total of 1015 goals
which gives them an average score of 67 goals per season to date. BRISTOL ROVERS in League One picked up their highest score of the season as they win
5-0 at home to Northampton. Rovers are now on a total of 54 goals. Rovers have
also been with Golden Goals for fifteen seasons and they are our 44th
voted team. They started with us back in the 1995/96 Season and their highest
score is 73 goals back in the 2011/12 Season. Last time out in the 2013/14
Season they finished on a total of 52 goals. Rovers have netted a total of 898
goals over the years and that now gives them an average score of 59 goals per
season.
FA CUP Third Round
We had a
total of twenty-eight of our teams in Cup action over the weekend with just
eleven of them going through to the next round. But we have another five teams
that will be in replays.
We already
know that Manchester City are
through but so are CHELSEA as they
beat PETERBOROUGH 4-1 at home.
Chelsea are now on a total of 54 goals while Borough hit goal number 49. MANCHESTER UNITED are on 43 goals as
they win 4-0 at home to Reading. ARSENAL
won 2-1 away to PRESTON after
going a goal down. Arsenal are on 52 goals while Preston are on 40. TOTTENHAM beat ASTON VILLA 2-0 at home and they are now on 47goals while Villa
picked up their eighth blank score sheet and now two in a row. LEICESTER CITY are on 28 goals as they
win 2-1 away to EVERTON who are now
on 33 goals. ACCRINGTON STANLEY are
through as they beat LUTON 2-1 at
home. Accrington are now on a total of 37 goals while Luton are on 47. It’s 51
goals for BRIGHTON as they win 2-0
at home against MK DONS. The Dons
picked up their tenth blank and now two games in a row. MILLWALL won 3-0 at home to BOURNEMOUTH
and are now on 55 goals while Bournemouth picked up their sixth blank of the
season. WOLVES won 2-0 away to STOKE and are now on 38 goals. Stoke
have now had five blank score sheets this season. DERBY won 2-1 away to West Brom and they take their goals tally to
28 after a two game dry spell for goals.
Teams that
went out are CARDIFF after they lost
2-1 at home to Fulham but they are now on a total of 28 goals. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are out as they
lost 3-0 away to Middlesbrough. That was
Wednesday’s fifth blank and two in a row. PORT
VALE picked up their tenth blank of the season and now two in a row as they
went down 4-0 away to Huddersfield. QUEENS
PARK RANGERS lost 2-1 at home to Blackburn and that was their 30th
goal of the season.
With the
replays, LIVERPOOL drew 0-0 at home
to PLYMOUTH and that was their fourth
blank while Plymouth are with eight blank score sheets and now two in a row. NEWCASTLE drew 1-1 away to Birmingham
and they are now on 60 goals. NORWICH
drew 2-2 at home to SOUTHAMPTON and
that now gives them a total of 53 goals while Southampton are on 26.
LEAGUE ONE
We have just
three of the top seven teams here with SHEFFIELD
UNITED staying top after they won 4-2 away to SOUTHEND. United take their goals tally to 59 while Southend are on
38. SCUNTHORPE have moved up to
second place after they won 3-2 at home to Bury. Scunthorpe are now on 55
goals. BRADFORD are fourth as they
win 2-0 at home to Chesterfield. Bradford are on a total of 34 goals.
LEAGUE TWO
We still have four of the top seven here with Doncaster back
on top as Plymouth moved down to second place. Fourth place is
Portsmouth with COLCHESTER now in sixth place after they won 4-1 at
home against Carlisle. With ten goals in their last three games, Colchester are
now on 41 goals. LEYTON ORIENT are on 29 goals as they lost 3-1 at home
to Barnet.
SCOTTISH
RESULTS
Only three
of our Scottish teams were in action over the weekend with FALKIRK in the Championship
picking up the highest score with a 4-0 away to Raith. Falkirk are now on a
total of 34 goals. In the lower leagues STENHOUSEMUIR
remain rooted to the bottom of League one after they lost 1-0 away to East Fife.
Stenhousemuir picked up their seventh blank score sheet of the season. PETERHEAD lost 3-2 at home to
Livingston but they are now on a total of 31 goals.
Our Best Three Teams Are
CELTIC (65)
LIVERPOOL (60) NEWCASTLE (60) Total of 185 goals
Our Worst Three Teams Are
OLDHAM (18)
KILMARNOCK (21) WALSALL (26) Total of 65 goals
Our Best
team on form is still CELTIC after they have scored in all of their twenty-four
League and Cup games played and netting a total of 65 goals which still gives
them an average score of two goals per game.
Our worst
teams is OLDHAM this weekend as they have picked up a total of seventeen
blank score sheets out of twenty-eight games played.
Our highest
goal scorers in our 34th Season are
LUTON after they won 6-2 at
home to non-league Solihull Moors in the FA
CUP 2nd Round in week eighteen. LIVERPOOL winning
6-1 at home against Watford in the league in week fourteen and SHEFFIELD UNITED winning 6-0 at home to LEYTON
ORIENT in the 1st Round of the FA Cup also in week fourteen. BOURNEMOUTH after their 6-1 home win against Hull in the
league in week eleven. CELTIC with their 6-1 home League win against Kilmarnock from week
eight. NEWCASTLE winning 6-0 away to
Q. P. R in the league in week seven and 6-1 away to Preston in the EFL
League Cup 4th Round in week thirteen. NORWICH by winning 6-1 at home
to Coventry in the EFL League Cup 2nd Round in week four.
DANIEL GOODSON is now in his tenth weekend in a row at the top and now
eleven weeks over the season. His combination picked him up a total of just
three goals over the week with two coming from midweek and one at the weekend.
That single goal came from Newcastle. Liverpool failed to score in their FA Cup
tie with Plymouth and Celtic had no game over the weekend. Dan’s lead has been
cut to just one goal as June Tighe remained in second place after picking up a
total of eight goals for the week. June’s teams are once again Celtic,
Newcastle and Sheffield United.
At the other end at that dreaded number 136
we still have KATHY SOMERVILLE as
her combination picked her up a total of four goals over the week. Kathy is now
in her second weekend at the bottom and eight over the season. Kathy’s teams
are Oldham, Tottenham and Yeovil. Kathy is still now nine goals behind Emma
Sawyer who has dropped down to 135th place this weekend.
