Week Fifteen

In Week Fifteen of the competition and not a very exciting week for us here at Golden Goals as we had the World Cup qualifying rounds being played over the week which meant that not many of our teams got round to playing any games. Still next weekend we will have our third Rollover of the season as our teams get back in league action.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only three players managed to pick up some midweek goals this week so the race for the cash has remained the same this week. In first place on 42 goals and still two goals clear is JULIE SOMERVILLE. In second place we still have them eleven players all on 40 goals. They are JAMES BLYTH, SIMON DICKINSON, MATT DORAN, GUY DOWSETT (2), PHIL FRANCKSEN, TONY GUY (2), TONY KING, GRAHAM PHILLIPS, CHRIS SETFORD, DAVE WOOD and RICKY WOOD. In third place on 39 goals we have STEPHEN LEADER and (Me) STEVE REEVE. In fourth place we have MIKE HARRINGTON, DAVE SOMERVILLE and ALICE STUBBS all on 38 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend only forty-one of you managed to pick up some goals as we only had eighteen of our teams in action over the weekend. Out of the we had just three teams that failed to score any goals.
The highest score that we had over the weekend came from the English League Two where LINCOLN CITY won 4-1 away to Crewe.  That result has taken Lincoln’s goal tally to 21 goals after they failed to score in their previous three games.
Lincoln City are now in their fifth Season with Golden Goals and they became our 70th voted English team. Lincoln started in our 1988/89 Season and finished on a total of 71 goals. Their highest score came in the 2005/06 Season with a total of 78 goals. In their last season with us in 2007/08, they finished on a total of 64 goals. This season they have two votes and they have picked up a total of eight blank score sheets in nineteen games played. Over the season’s they have netted a total of 303 goals which gives them an average score of 60 goals per season to date.

LEAGUE ONE
The highest team that we have here is Wigan in second place with Charlton right behind them in third. Both teams had no game over the weekend. BRADFORD in fourth place did and they lost 1-0 at home to PLYMOUTH. Bradford picked up their fifth blank of the season while Plymouth net goal number fourteen. In fifth place is SCUNTHORPE who won 1-0 at home to Bristol Rovers to take their goals tally to 22. PETERBOROUGH are now on 29 goals as they drew 2-2 away to AFC Wimbledon. After a three game dry spell for goals, PORTSMOUTH won 3-2 away to Blackpool and they are now on a total of 23 goals. It’s 30 goals for DONCASTER as they drew 1-1 at home to Rotherham. MK DONS won 1-0 at home to FLEETWOOD TOWN and they are now on a total of 24 goals while Fleetwood picked up their second blank of the season.

LEAGUE TWO
EXETER are third here and our highest team in league two as they win 3-0 at home against Grimsby. Exeter are now on 29 goals. LUTON are in fourth place as they drew 2-2 away to Cheltenham and they are now on 37 goals. COVENTRY are in sixth place but they lost 1-0 at home to MANSFIELD. Coventry have now had a total of eight blank score sheets as Mansfield take their goals tally to 26. COLCHESTER won 1-0 away to Barnet to pick up goal number 25. FOREST GREEN drew 1-1 away to Crawley and they are now on 18 goals.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
With our Scottish teams we had just three of our eight in action and they all came from their League Two. In fourth place we have  STENHOUSEMUIR who won 3-2 away to PETERHEAD to take their goals tally to 25 while Peterhead in third place are now on 41 goals. In fifth place is ELGIN CITY who won 3-1 Away to Cowdenbeath and they are now on a total of 28 goals.

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE

CRYSTAL PALACE (8) NEWCASTLE (12) WEST BROM (13) Total of 33 goals 

Our Best team is now CELTIC who have now scored in all of their fifteen League/Cup games played with a total of 42 goals.

BIRMINGHAM, BURTON ALBION, CRYSTAL PALACE and DONCASTER have all picked up nine blank score sheets each.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 35th Season is PETERHEAD from the Scottish League Two. They picked up our highest score in week eleven as they won 9-0 at home to non-league team Colville Park in the WILLIAM HILL CUP Second Round. 

CHRIS BOOM is celebrating his fifth consecutive week at the top as his combination picked him up two goals all coming from the weekend once again. He has Celtic, Manchester City and Peterhead. Paul Davey has moved back into second place but he is four goals behind Chris as his combination  also picked him up two goals at the weekend. Paul has the combination of Celtic, Luton and Manchester City.
At the other end at number 149 we have COLIN PINDER who is now spending his second weekend there and now four over our 35th Season. Colin was lucky enough to have one of his teams in action and they were Colchester who picked up a goal for him. His teams are Colchester, Crystal Palace and Southend.
