Week Sixteen

In Week Sixteen of the competition and we had our third Rollover of the season worth £12. It was won on a total of 12 goals and with his second win of the season it goers to JED WEARDEN who becomes our third player to win twice this season. Jed last won back in our very first weekend with a part share of the cash prize money. Since then Jed has picked up just one blank score sheet in week five and second place is still his best position from week three. Jed has not been outside the top twenty all season. His best team is now Luton with 44 goals out of his total of 120 goals. His teams are once again

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only seventeen players managed to pick up some midweek goals this week so the race for the cash has remained much the same as last week. In first place on 42 goals and still two goals clear is JULIE SOMERVILLE. In second place we still have them eleven players all on 40 goals. They are JAMES BLYTH, SIMON DICKINSON, MATT DORAN, GUY DOWSETT (2), PHIL FRANCKSEN, TONY GUY (2), TONY KING, GRAHAM PHILLIPS, CHRIS SETFORD, DAVE WOOD and RICKY WOOD. In third place on 39 goals we have STEPHEN LEADER and (Me) STEVE REEVE. In fourth place we have MIKE HARRINGTON, DAVE SOMERVILLE and ALICE STUBBS and they are now joined with our 2010/11 Champion TONY GUY and BOB SAWYER all are on 38 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend the average score was just 5 goals which seems to be miss leading after we had a fantastic weekend for goals. We had three teams without a game and another eighteen teams that failed to score any goals. The highest score that we had over the weekend came from LUTON TOWN in the English League Two where they beat Cambridge United 7-0 at home. This is the second time that Luton have hit seven goals in a game but eight is their highest in week one.
Luton have moved up into second place in the league with a total of 44 goals. Luton have now taken their average score up to 73 goals per season.

PREMIERSHIP
We have the top six teams here with MANCHESTER CITY still top after they won 2-0 away to LEICESTER CITY. As Manchester City take their goals tally to 42, Leicester picked up their third blank of the season. Some eight points behind City in second place is MANCHESTER UNITED who won 4-1 at home to NEWCASTLE. United are now on a total of 33 goals while Newcastle picked up goal number thirteen after a two game dry spell. It’s 30 goals for CHELSEA in third place as they win 4-0 away to WEST BROM. West Brom have picked up their consecutive blank score sheet and now five over the season. TOTTENHAM are in fourth place but they lost 2-0 away to ARSENAL who are in sixth place. Tottenham picked up their third blank score sheet while Arsenal are now on a total of 25 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games. LIVERPOOL have now scored ten goals in their last three games as they win 3-0 at home to Southampton. Liverpool are now on a total of 24 goals. BOURNEMOUTH have picked up their biggest result of the season as they win 4-0 at home to Huddersfield to take their goals total to 17. CRYSTAL PALACE are still rooted to the bottom of the table as they drew 2-2 at home to EVERTON. Palace are now on 10 goals while Everton are now on 16 goals.WEST HAM are now third from bottom as they lost 2-0 away to Watford to pick up their fifth blank of the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP
We have the top three teams here with WOLVES back on top as they win 2-0 away to READING. Wolves are now on 35 goals while Reading picked up their sixth blank of the season. Sheffield United are in second place now with CARDIFF in third place after they won 2-0 at home to BRENTFORD. Cardiff are on 27 goals as Brentford picked up their fifth blank score sheet. ASTON VILLA are in fifth place as they win 2-1 away to QUEENS PARK RANGERS after going a goal down. Villa are now on 30 goals to Rangers 22. Behind them is MIDDLESBROUGH who lost 2-1 away to LEEDS UNITED. Brough are now on 28 goals while Leeds are on 38. BIRMINGHAM picked up goal number 15 after they have failed to score in their last four games as they win 1-0 at home to Nottingham Forest. FULHAM drew 1-1 at home to Derby and they are now on 21 goals while HULL are on 30 goals as they drew 2-2 at home to IPSWICH who take their goals total to 31. NORWICH picked up another goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Barnsley. Norwich are on a total of 27 goals. We had all three at the bottom of the league with Burton third from bottom, with Bolton and right at the foot of the table SUNDERLAND. They drew 2-2 at home to Millwall and they are now on 25 goals.

LEAGUE ONE
The highest team that we have here is still WIGAN in second place as they lost 2-1 at home to BRADFORD in third place. Wigan take their goals total to 35 while Bradford move on to 31 goals. Up to fourth place is SCUNTHORPE as they win 3-0 away to Northampton. Scunthorpe are now on 26 goals. CHARLTON have dropped down to fifth place as they drew 2-2 at home to MK DONS. Charlton have now scored in all of their last nine games and they are on 31 goals. MK Dons are on 26 goals.  BLACKBURN are now in sixth place after they won 3-0 away to Bury and that is now nine goals in three games to take their goals total to 30. FLEETWOOD TOWN picked up their third blank and now two in a row as they drew 0-0 at home to DONCASTER who picked up their tenth blank score sheet. PETERBOROUGH lost 1-0 at home to Blackpool and that is their third blank of the season. PORTSMOUTH are now on 24 goals as they win 1-0 at home to SOUTHEND. Southend have picked up their seventh blank and now two in a row. PLYMOUTH are second from bottom as they lost 4-0 at home against Oxford. That was Plymouth’s seventh blank score sheet.

LEAGUE TWO
After their big win, Luton are now up to second place with EXETER moving down to fourth place as they lost 1-0 away to Chesterfield. Exeter have now had a total of five blank score sheets to date. COVENTRY have moved down to seventh place as they win 2-1 away to LINCOLN CITY. Both teams are now on 22 goals. FOREST GREEN are now on 21 goals as they win 3-2 at home to Crewe. COLCHESTER drew 0-0 at home to Morecombe and that is their sixth blank of the season. MANSFIELD are on 27 goals as they win 1-0 at home to Stevenage. PORT VALE won 1-0 at home to Barnet and they are now on 21 goals.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the WILLIAM HILL CUP Third Round games we had four of our Scottish teams in action. The bad news is that only one have made it through to the next round. That team is  PETERHEAD who beat RAITH ROVERS 3-0 at home. Peterhead are now on 44 goals while Raith picked up their third blank of the season and now two in a row. ELGIN CITY are out as they lost 1-0 away to Dumbarton to pick up their seventh blank score sheet. STENHOUSEMUIR are also out as they went down 2-1 at home to Alloa. That was Stenhousemuir’s 26th goal of the season.
In the Premiership CELTIC have extended their lead and run of goals to sixteen games as they win just 1-0 away to Ross County to hit goal number 43. ABERDEEN in second place and six points behind Celtic, lost 2-0 at home to Motherwell and that is their fourth blank of the season. RANGERS in fourth place behind Hibs, lost their third league game out of thirteen as they went down 2-0 at home to Hamilton. That is Rangers fourth blank score sheet.
In the Championship FALKIRK lost 3-0 away to Dundee Utd and they have now had a total of five blank score sheets.

The only team with a 100% goal scoring run is CELTIC who have now scored in all of their sixteen League/Cup games played with a total of 43 goals. That gives them an average score of 2.6 goals per game.

DONCASTER have picked up the most number of blank score sheets with a total of ten out of twenty-two league/cup games played.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 35th Season is PETERHEAD from the Scottish League Two. They picked up our highest score in week eleven as they won 9-0 at home to non-league team Colville Park in the WILLIAM HILL CUP Second Round. 

Our 2013/14 Champion PAUL DAVEY has become the sixth player to reach that number one spot this weekend, as his combination picked him up a total of 10 goals all coming from the weekend.  Paul has Celtic, Luton and Manchester City.
At the other end at number 149 we have COLIN PINDER who is now spending his third consecutive weekend there and now five over the Season. Colin picked up just two goals from from his teams and they all came from Crystal Palace. His teams are Colchester, Crystal Palace and Southend.
