Week Eighteen

In Week Eighteen of the competition and we had a total of six players that picked up a total of 13 goals each. They were VINCENT CRUICKSHANK, JOHN FILTNESS, DOUG MORBEY, KEAMUS SETNA, KELLIE STRATTON and JED WEARDEN. Under the competition rules, we are only sharing the £6 prize money between four players. This means that we have no winners this weekend but we will be having our fourth Rollover of the season next weekend for £12.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
All but two players managed to pick up some more midweek goals this week and the race for the cash has changed around once again. It was John Dove that picked up the most with a fantastic total of 12 goals. They came from Arsenal 5, Everton 4 and Liverpool 3.  
In first place now on 53 goals we still have JAMES BLYTH. In second place both on 51 goals we have (Me) STEVE REEVE up from five and JULIE SOMERVILLE moving back up from three. In third place on 50 goals we have SIMON DICKINSON and TONY KING both moving up from fifth place. In joint fourth place we have MATT DORAN, PHIL FRANCKSEN, ROB FREEMAN, CHRIS SETFORD, JUNE TIGHE and DAVE WOOD all on 49 goals. In fifth place all on 48 goals,we have TONY GUY (1), STEPHEN LEADER, MIKE PEPPERRELL and BOB SAWYER.  

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend the average score shot back up from four goals last weekend to 8 this weekend. We have had a very wild week for goals as they came flooding in. They did not all come from the FA CUP second round but from the English and Scottish Premierships. We had twelve teams without a game and another six teams that failed to score any goals. The highest score that we had over the weekend came from three of our teams. From the English Premiership LIVERPOOL with their highest score of the season won 5-1 away to Brighton. Liverpool have taken their goals total to 33 and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. CELTIC from the Scottish Premiership also picked up another five goals in their 5-1 home win against Motherwell. Celtic are doing very well again this season and they are now on a total of 51 goals. In the FA CUP Second Round, LUTON won 5-0 away to non-league Gateshead. Luton have now scored in all of their last six games and they are now on 54 goals.

FA CUP Second Round
We had fifteen of our teams in action in this round. Out of them only six have made it through to the next round, at the moment. We already know about Luton but BRADFORD are also there as they win 3-1 at home to PLYMOUTH. Bradford are now on 36 goals. MK DONS are on 32 goals as they win 4-1 at home to non-league Maidstone United. COVENTRY are through as they win 3-0 at home to non-league Boreham Wood. Coventry are now on 27 goals. DONCASTER beat SCUNTHORPE 3-0 at home to take their goals total to 35 while Scunthorpe are out and picked up their eighth blank score sheet of the season. MANSFIELD won 3-0 at home to non-league Guiseley and that has put them on a total of 36 goals and they have now scored in all of their last ten games. CHARLTON are out of the cup after they went down 3-1 away to AFC Wimbledon. In replays we have FLEETWOOD TOWN who drew 1-1 at home to non-league Hereford FC. Fleet are now on 33 goals. FOREST GREEN are on 27 goals after they drew 3-3 at home to EXETER who are now on 35 goals. PORT VALE drew 1-1 at home to Yeovil and they are now on 23 goals. BLACKBURN who after they went three goals up in the first half against Crewe, drew 3-3 in full time at home. Blackburn are really picking up the goals as they are now on a total of 43. PETERBOROUGH are also in a replay after they drew 1-1 away to non-league Woking after going a goal up in the first half. Borough are on 39 goals.

PREMIERSHIP
We Still have the top six teams here with MANCHESTER CITY still top as they win 2-1 at home to WEST HAM. City take their goals tally to 48 while West Ham are now second from bottom and on 21  goals. Still some eight points behind City in second place is MANCHESTER UNITED. They won 3-1 away to ARSENAL in fifth place. United are now on 41 goals to Arsenal’;s 32. CHELSEA are still in third place as they win 3-1 at home to NEWCASTLE. Chelsea take their goals tally to 35 while Newcastle hit goal number sixteen. Liverpool are now in fourth place after their win with TOTTENHAM moving down to sixth place after they drew 1-1 away to Watford. EVERTON are on 23 goals as they win 2-0 at home to Huddersfield and LEICESTER CITY hit goal number 29 in their 1-0 home win against Burnley. WEST BROM drew 0-0 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE to pick up their sixth blank of the season while Palace move up to third from bottom and their eleventh blank and now two in a row. BOURENMOUTH drew 1-1 at home to Southampton and they are now on a total of 19 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP
We now have the top two teams here with Wolves still on top and just one point clear of second place Cardiff. Both teams had no game at the weekend. SHEFFIELD UNITED are down to fourth place as they lost 3-1 away to Millwall  United are now on 37 goals.  Aston Villa have moved down to fifth place after they drew with Leeds in midweek. BOLTON are on 24 goals as they win 3-1 at home to Barnsley. BRENTFPORD won 3-1 at home to FULHAM and they are now on 39 goals to Fulhams 28. MIDDLESBROUGH lost 2-1 away to Bristol City but they are now on 31 goals. BURTON ALBION picked up their eleventh blank score sheet and now two in a row as they lost 1-0 away to Derby. IPSWICH won 4-2 at home to Nottingham Forest and they are now on 38 goals while QUEENS PARK RANGERS picked up their fifth blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 away to Preston. HULL drew 2-2 away to Sheffield Wednesday and that took their goals tally to 34. READING have picked up another three goals this week as they win 3-1 away to SUNDERLAND, Reading are now on 31 goals while Sunderland hit goal number 29.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership, Celtic after their big win against Motherwell, have now extended their run of goals to nineteen games with a total of 51 goals. RANGERS are now in second place and seven points behind their rivals Celtic after they beat  ABERDEEN for a second time this week as they win 2-1 away.  Rangers are now on 42 goals while Aberdeen hit goal number 25.
In League One RAITH won 2-1 at home to Alloa which took their goals tally up to 39 goals. In League Two ELGIN CITY lost 2-0 away to Anna and that was their eighth blank of the season while PETERHEAD won 3-1 at home to Edinburgh City and they are now on 47 goals.

The only team with a 100% goal scoring run is CELTIC who have now scored in all of their nineteen League/Cup games played with a total of 51 goals. That still gives them an average score of 2.6 goals per game.

BURTON ALBION, CRYSTAL PALACE and DONCASTER have all picked up the most number of blank score sheets with a total of eleven each.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 35th Season is PETERHEAD from the Scottish League Two. They picked up our highest score in week eleven as they won 9-0 at home to non-league team Colville Park in the WILLIAM HILL CUP Second Round. 

Our 2013/14 Champion PAUL DAVEY is now celebrating  his third weekend at  number one as his combination picked him up a total of 15 goals for the week. Paul has Celtic, Luton and Manchester City. He is now pulling away from the rest of us by seven goals clear of Chris Boom and Jed Wearden in second and third place.
At the other end at number 149 we still have COLIN PINDER who is now spending his fifth consecutive weekend there and now seven over the Season. Colin picked up just two goals from his combination all coming from the weekend. His teams are Colchester, Crystal Palace and Southend.
