In Week Twenty-One of the competition we can now start the second
half. We had just one player to pick up
the full amount of cash this weekend with the Christmas Jackpot worth £10. For
his first win of the season it went to CHRIS BOLBERY who now becomes our 29th winner with this season’s record
score of 14 goals.
Chris started with Golden
Goals back in the 1997/98 Season where he finished in 39th
place on a total of 252 goals. Last season he finished
in 66th place on 286 goals. This season we see Chris in second place
for the second week and he has only had two blank score sheets from the
weekend. His best team is Manchester City and the rest of his teams are
CELTIC 3, MANCHESTER CITY 4, WIGAN 7

MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We now have a total of forty-three
players that are on 50 or more midweek goals and what a week it was. We had one player that picked up the most with
10 goals and they all went to JOHN DOVE. His goals came from Arsenal four from their
two games played and three each from Everton and Liverpool. That takes John’s
midweek total to 37 but he is still some way behind the leaders. The race for
the cash has changed slightly again this week.
Still in first place now on 61
goals we have JAMES BLYTH. In second
place on 60 goals we now have DAVE WOOD.
In third place on 59 goals is ROB FREEMAN and MIKE PEPPERRELL both moving up from five. In fourth place on 58 goals we have
MATT DORAN, TONY GUY (1), STEPHEN LEADER,
GRAHAM PHILLIPS and JULIE SOMERVILLE.
In fifth place all on 57 we have SIMON DICKINSON, TONY GUY (2) and (Me) STEVE REEVE.
WEEKEND
RESULTS
This weekend the
average score moved back up to 5 goals. After
another great start to the week with the midweek results, the weekend did even
better. This weekend we had six teams without a game and another eleven teams
that failed to score any goals. The highest score that we had over the weekend was
seven goals and they came from the League
One leaders WIGAN who won 7-0 away to
Oxford. The goals take Wigans score up to 58 and they have now scored in all
of their last nine games.
Wigan became our 83rd
voted English team and they did not start with Golden Goals until the
1992/93 Season where they finished on a total of 51 goals. Their highest score
came in our 1998/99 Season with 84 goals. Last time out in the 2015/16 Season
they finished on a total of 83 goals. This is there 12th Season with
us and they have now netted a total of 774 goals which gives them an average
score of 64 goals per season. I think that this is going to be a big season for
them and for the three players that have voted for them.
