Week Twenty-Nine

In Week Twenty-Nine of the competition we had two players who shared this weekends Rollover Jackpot of £12 in cash. They are our 1994/95 Champion GEOFF DOCKERILL and SCOTT THOMSON (2) both with the total of 9 goals each.
Geoff has picked up his second win of the season as he last won in Week Twenty-Six taking the full £6. He is the seventh player to win twice this season. Geoff over the last two weeks has picked up a total of twenty-six goals.
Scott has picked up his very first win of the season and he becomes our twenty-ninth winner to date with his second combination. Scott started with Golden Goals way back in our 2006/07 Season where he finished in the winning frame at number seventeen with a total of 261 goals. Last season with two combinations, his second combo finished the highest at 112 with 248 goals. This season with his second combo, Scott has picked up three blank score sheets and 26th his his highest position in Week Five. Our winners combinations are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Some of us managed to pick up some goals in midweek this week. The highest score that we had was with five goals and they all went to JOHN DAVIES. John has Sunderland, Tottenham and West Brom and it brings his midweek goals total up to 77. So the race for the cash has a slight change again this week. This week we have added just two more players with 50 or more midweek goals and this week it has moved up to a total of 115.
This week we have GRAHAM HARRIS back at the top once again in the race for the cash as he picks up two goals from West Brom. Graham has Hearts, Tottenham and West Brom and a total of 86 goals. JUNE TIGHE has moved back down to second place as she picks up just one goal from Derby and is now on a total of 85 goals. June has Derby, Manchester City and Tottenham. In third place down from two we have JAMIE WOOD still with 82 goals. In fourth place on 81 goals we have DANNY HARRINGTON down from three. In joint fifth place both with a total of 79 goals we still have KELLIE STRATTON but ANN WELLARD has moved down from fourth place this week.

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had just forty-one of our teams in action this weekend with thirteen of them failing to score any goals. We had another twenty-one teams that had no game. So the weekends average score fell from nine goals last weekend to 5 goals this weekend. Most of us managed to pick up some goals this weekend but eleven of us did not.
The highest score that we had came from the FA Cup 5th round where MANCHESTER CITY beat Newport County 4-1 away. Newport County held City at half time but City’s strength took hold on the second half. City are now on a total of 106 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seventeen games. SWANSEA also picked up four goals in their cup game against BRENTFORD by winning 4-1 at home after going a goal down in the first half. Swansea are now on a total of 53 goals to Brentford's 64 with a ten game goal run.

FA CUP Fifth Round
We had a total of four teams in cup action but only two have made it through to the next round. Our fourth team to play was DERBY but they go out 2-1 away to Brighton. Derby picked up goal number 29.

CHAMPIONSHIP
It’s all change here as Leeds United drop down to third place behind Norwich at the top with Sheffield United moving up to second place as they had no game. WEST BROM come next still in fourth place as they win 2-1 away to ASTON VILLA. West Brom are now on 69 goals while Villa picked up their seventh blank score sheet and now two in a row. BLACKBURN lost 1-0 again at home to Middlesbrough and that is their seventh blank score sheet. Bottom of the table IPSWICH picked up another goal as they drew 1-1 at home against STOKE.  Ipswich are now on a total of 26 goals while Stoke picked up goal number 41 after a four game dry spell for goals. NOTTINGHAM FOREST drew 0-0 away to Preston and picked up their eleventh blank of the season. ROTHERHAM drew 2-2 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and that takes their goals tally up to 36.

LEAGUE ONE
We still have the top five here with LUTON still top after they won 2-1 away to Fleetwood. Luton have taken their goals tally up to 69 goals. BARNSLEY are still in second place and still six points behind Luton after they won 2-1 at home to WYCOMBE. Barnsley are now on 68 goals while Wycombe after a two game dry spell, picked up goal number 48. PORTSMOUTH are still in third place after they drew 3-3 away to SOUTHEND. Portsmouth are now on 62 goals to Southend's 54. Sunderland are in fourth place with CHARLTON in fifth place as they drew 0-0 at home to Blackpool. As Charlton pick up their eighth blank of the season, they have scored just one goal in their last four games. PLYMOUTH drew 0-0 away to Bradford and that is their tenth blank score sheet. We have not had a big score from COVENTRY for a while as they win 3-0 at home to Walsall and they are now on a total of 38 goals. SCUNTHORPE lost 1-0 away to Gillingham and they have now had a total of thirteen blank score sheets. It’s 60 goals for PETERBOROUGH won 1-0 away to Oxford Utd. SHREWSBURY drew 1-1 at home against BURTON ALBION. Shrewsbury are now on 48 goals to Burtons 52.

LEAGUE TWO
LINCOLN CITY are still on top after they drew once again 2-2 at home to Stevenage. Lincoln are now on a total of 68 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nineteen games. MANSFIELD have fallen down to third place after they lost 1-0 away to NOTTS COUNTY. That is now their eighth blank of the season and now two in a row. County are now on 36 goals. MK DONS are in fourth place after they won 3-2 away to Carlsile and they have taken their goals tally up to 57. EXETER lost 1-0 at home to Bury and that is their tenth blank of the season. OLDHAM picked up their 57th goal of the season after they drew 1-1 at home to Crewe.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Premiership, CELTIC are now eight points in front of rivals Rangers after they won 1-0 away to Kilmarnock to pick up their 76th goal of the season and a goal run of eight games. RANGERS picked up their seventh blank and now two in a row as they drew 0-0 at home to St Johnstone. ABERDEEN in third place drew 2-2 at home to St Mirren and they are now on 57 goals. HEARTS are on 55 goals but lost 2-1 away to Motherwell. HIBERNIAN won 2-0 at home to HAMILTON to take their goals tally up to 46 while Hamilton picked up their seventeenth blank score sheet.
In the Championship,  Ross County are top with AYR UNITED in second place after they drew 0-0 away to Morton to pick up their ninth blank score sheet. ALLOA lost 2-0 at home to Partick and that is their twelfth blank score sheet and they are bottom of the league now.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are now in second place after they lost 1-0 at home to Arbroath and that is their third blank score sheet of the season after a goal run of 26 games. DUMBARTON are on 39 goals after they won 3-0 away to Stranrear
In League Two, It’s 50 goals for PETERHEAD who are in second place as they win 2-1 at home to Queens Park.

Our Best teams this week are LIVERPOOL after they have scored in all of their last nineteen League and Cup games out of twenty-eight played. They have a total of 61 goals which gives them a average score of 2 goals per game.

Our worst team this week is back to HAMILTON as they have now picked up a total of seventeen blank score sheets out of thirty-one league and cup games played this season. They have now scored three goals in their last six games.

Our biggest result in our 36th Season is MANCHESTER CITY as they win 9-0 at home against league one BURTON ALBION in the Carabao/League Cup semi-final first leg tie in Week Twenty-Four.

JAMIE WOOD is still at the number one this weekend which is now his sixth weekend of the season and now four in a row. Jamie picked up a total of just five goals all coming from the weekend. His combination is Celtic, Manchester City and Tottenham.  Bob Sawyer is still in second place after he collected a total of seven goals all from the weekend. Bob has the combination of  Celtic, Luton and Manchester City.
At the other end at 133 we still have John Filtness at the bottom for his twentieth consecutive weekend as his teams failed to pick him up any goals for the week. He has now had twenty-three weeks at the bottom but he is now five goals adrift  this weekend. His teams are  Birmingham, Hamilton and Liverpool.
