Week Ten

Here we are with Week Ten of the competition and we are half way through the first half of the season already. We had our second Rollover this weekend and we ended up with three winners who all won on a score of 13 goals.  This now brings our winners total up to fourteen. Our winners share our second Rollover of the season worth £10 are HAYLEY ADKINS, LYANNA GRIMWOOD and JAMIE WOOD.

Hayley started with us in the 2020/21 Season on where she finished in 91st place with 227 goals. Last season Hayley finished in 35th place with 284 goals but she did pick up her first full weekend win. This season she has been in second place for five weeks now. Hayley has picked up three blank score sheets and her best team is Aberdeen.

Lyanna also started with us in the 2020/21 Season in a joint entry. They finished in 34th place with a total of 267 goals. But this is her second solo season and last season she finished in the winning frame in 6th place with a total of 322 goals. Lyanna also picked up one full weekend win. This season she has also picked up three blank score sheets and this is the highest that Lyanna has been. Manchester City is her best team.

Jamie started with Golden Goals  back in the 2015/16 Season on where he finished in the winning frame in 12th place with a total of 278 goals. Last season he finished in 37th place with 284 goals. This season we can see Jamie on the fornt page for the first time this season. He has picked up three blank score sheets and his best team is Manchester City. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

We only had four players that picked up any midweek goals this week which means that RICK WOOD our 2007/08 Champion is now joint leader with STEVE AYRES who are now both on a total of 27 goals each. HAYLEY ADKINS stays in second place still with a total of 26 goals. In third place is still have NICK HORTON on a total of 25 goals. In fourth place with 24 goals we have GUY DOWSETT (1). In fifth place we have,  MARK GREGORY, LOUIE HARRINGTON and TERENCE WARWICK all on a total of 23 goals. In sixth place we have PETER PORTER and BOB SOPER with 22 goals each. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just three of our teams without a game this weekend and we had eight teams failed to score any goals. We had another crazy weekend for goals as you will soon see. The average score for this weekend was 9 goals which is our second highest to date. Well done if your teams picked up more than that. The highest score that we had was six goals and they came from MANCHESTER CITY who beat rivals MANCHESTER UNITED 6-3 at home. That is the second time this season that City have scored six goals in a game and they are now on a total of 29 goals. They also have now scored in all of their eight games played. United are now on a total of 11 goals.

City are one of our original teams that started in our first season in1983/84. In that season they finished on a total of 73 goals. Their highest score came in 2013/14  and again in the 2018/19 with 137 goals and that is a Golden Goals record. They have scored a total of 100+ goals in eight of their 29 Seasons and they have now had a run of five seasons with 100+ goals. Last season they scored a total of 121 goals. Over the years thye have now netted a total of 2473 goals which gives them an average score of 85 goals per season. They have a total of 55 votes this season. 

PREMIERSHIP

ARSENAL have remained on top after their north London derby with TOTTENHAM. Arsenal won 3-1 at home which now gives them a total of 20 goals; Tottenham are on 19 goals. Both teams have kept their 100% scoring record to eight games. Manchester City have remained in second place after their big win against United. BOURNEMOUTH picked up their 5th blank of the season after they drew 0-0 at home to Brentford. CRYSTAL PALACE lost 2-1 at home to CHELSEA and they are on a total of 10 goals while Chelsea are also on a total of 10 goals. NEWCASTLE won 4-1 away to FULHAM. With their biggest result of the season, Newcastle have taken their goals tally to 14. Fulham picked up goal number 13. LIVERPOOL drew 3-3 at home to BIRGHTON and they are now on a total of 18 goals while Brighton are now on a total of 17 goals and a goal run of six games. EVERTON won 2-1 away to Southampton and they are on a total of 8 goals. WEST HAM won their second league game 2-0 at home to Wolves. West Ham are now on 5 goals. LEEDS UTD drew 0-0 at home against ASTON VILLA and that is their 2nd blank score sheet while Villa picked up their 3rd. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

SHEFFIELD UNITED are still top here after they drew 1-1 at home against Birmingham. United are on 20 goals and have now extended their goal run to ten games. NORWICH are in second place as they win 1-0 away to Blackpool. Norwich have now scored in all of their last twelve games and are on a total of 21 goals. BURNLEY drew 1-1 away to Cardiff and that is goal number 19 for them and a goal run of nine games. MIDDLESBROUGH lost 1-0 away to Coventry and that is their 4th blank of the season and now two in a row.  READING won 3-1 at home to HUDDERFIELD and they are now on a total of 14 goals while Huddersfield hit goal number 11. SUNDERLAND drew 0-0 at home against Preston and they have now had a total of four blank score sheets. WEST BROM lost 3-2 at home to SWANSEA and they are on a total of 18 goals and a goal run of six games. Swansea are now on a total of 15 goals. WATFORD picked up their biggest result to date as they win 4-0 away to Stoke to take their goals tally up to 15. 

LEAGUE ONE

PLYMOUTH are still the top of the table after they won 1-0 away to Wycombe. Plymouth are on a total of 19 goals and have extended their goal run to nine games. IPSWICH are in second place as they win 3-2 at home to Portsmouth. Ipswich picked up goal number 23 and they have also now scored in all of their last nine games. LINCOLN CITY lost 2-0 away to Bolton to pick up their 4th blank of the season. FOREST GREEN lost 3-2 away to Burton and they are on a total of 12 goals. DERBY won 2-0 away to Cambridge Utd and they are on a total of 14 goals. Another single goal for CHARLTON in their 1-1 home draw against OXFORD UNITED. Charlton are on a total of 17 goals and a goal run of nine games. Oxford picked up goal number 11. BRISTOL ROVERS drew 2-2 away to Exeter and are on a total of 15 goals. MK DONS lost 3-2 at home to PETERBOROUGH and have taken their goals total to 14. Borough are on 22 goals. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY won 1-0 away to Port Vale and they are on a total of 26 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have here are BRADFORD CITY in fourth place. They won 2-1 away to Harrogate and are on a total of 21 goals. SALFORD CITY drew 1-1 at home to Grimsby and that is goal number 17 for them. AFC WIMBLEDON won 2-1 at home to Colchester and they are on a total of 13 goals. CRAWLEY TOWN lost 2-1 at home to Sevenage and they are on a total of 13 goals. SUTTON UNITED picked up their 4th blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to GILLINGHAM. Gillingham after a two game dry spell, picked up goal number 5. STOCKPORT COUNTY drew 1-1 at home to Walsall. Stockport are on a total of 13 goals. SWINDON lost 2-1 at home to Northampton and they are on a total of 13 goals. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In the Premiership top of the table CELTIC won 2-1 at home against Motherwell. Celtic are on a total of 31 goals. RANGERS in second place beat ten men HEARTS 4-0 away to take their goals tally up to 23 goals. Hearts picked up their 4th blank of the season. ABERDEEN won 4-1 at home to Kilmarnock and they are now on a total of 34 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games. HIBERNIAN won 2-0 away to Ross County and they have taken their goals total to 21.

In League One ALLOA drew 1-1 away to Queen of the South and that is goal number 23 for them. KELTY HEARTS won 1-0 at home to Airdreonians and they are on a total of 8 goals.

In League Two STENHOUSEMUIR are now in third place after they picked up their highest result of the season by winning 4-2 away to BONNYRIGG ROSE. Stenhousenuir are now on a total of 24 goals and they have now scored in all of their last six games. After a two game dry spell for goals, Bonnyrigg take their goals tally to 15 goals.

Our best performing team are now NORWICH as they have now scored in all of their last twelve league/cup games played. They have a total of 21 goals. That gives them an average score of 1.6 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM this weekend as they have picked up nine blank score sheets out of thirteen League/Cup games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL who won 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five. 

MARK GREGORY has moved back into the lead this weekend after he picked up a total of  9 goals all from the weekend. He has now been at the top for a total of four week over the ten that have been played. His teams are Celtic, Manchester City and Norwich. Hayley Adkins is now in second place on goal difference as she picks up a total of 13 goals all coming from the weekend. Hayley’s teams are Agerdeen, Liverpool and Manchester City.

At the other end at 108 we still have MANDY WRIGHT who has now been there for eight consecutive weeks. Mandy’s teams picked up a total of 5 goals this week. Her teams are Bournemouth, Swansea and West Ham.

There has been a bit of a change in the top ten this weekend.
