Week Thirteen

Here we are with Week Thirteen of the competition and we  had another two players to share the £5 Weekend Jackpot this weekend. Our winners won on a score of 9 goals each and they are MARK GREGORY and SARAH MARSHALL which now means that we have had a total of eighteen winners in our 40th Season.

Mark started with us back in the 2008/09 Season on where he finished in 49th place with a total of 251 goals. Although Mark has not been in every season since then, Mark has been active in these past ten season’s. Last season Mark finished in 77th place with 249 goals. This season he has been top for a total of six weeks and has picked up two weekend blank score sheets. His best team is Celtic.

Sarah becomes our sixth lady winner so far and she started with Golden Goals back in the 2016/17 Season. Unfortunately we have lost the records for that season but in the following season, Sarah finished in 54th place with 280 goals. Last season Sarah finished in 70th place with a total of 254 goals. This season this week is her highest position and Sarah has also picked up a total of two weekend blank score sheets. Celtic is also her best team. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us managed to pick up some midweek goals this week which means that the race has changed quite a lot this week. ALICE STUBBS our 2012/13 Champion picked up the most number of goals with a total of 8. They came from Celtic, Chelsea and Middlesbrough.

We have a new joint leaders for the cash this week and they are HAYLEY ADKINS up from four and NICK HORTON up from three. Both share the lead this week with a total of 31 goals each. In second place down from one we now have  RICK WOOD our 2007/08 Champion and JACQUI RATTLE up from five both with a total of 29 goals. In third place we now have STEVE AYRES down from two and MARK GREGORY up from six place. Both are on a total of 28 goals. In fourth place all on 27 goals we have, GUY DOWSETT (1) and TERENCE WARWICK both down for third place but joining them we have BARBARA BARNES (2) coning in to the race. In fifth place we now have LOUIE HARRINGTON up from six and coming in this week, we have GEOFF CARTHY both with a total of 25 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had five of our teams without a game this weekend and we had nine teams that failed to score any goals. We had a fairly good weekend once again as the average score for this weekend went up from three goals last weekend to 5 goals this weekend. Well done if your teams picked up more than that. The highest score that we had was four goals and they came from five of our teams. They include ASTON VILLA, BURNLEY,  CELTIC, LEICESTER CITY and WATFORD. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

ARSENAL have remained on top again this week and now just two points in front after they drew 1-1 away to Southampton. Arsenal keep their 100% scoring record going after eleven games played and they are on a total of 25 goals. MANCHESTER CITY are still in second place after they won 3-1 at home against BRIGHTON. City are now on a total of 36 goals. Brighton after they had failed to score in their last three games, picked up goal number 18. TOTTENHAM are still in third place after they lost 2-1 at home to NEWCASTLE. Tottenham are on a total of 23 goals while Newcastle are on 22 goals. CHELSEA drew 1-1 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED and both teams are on a total of 16 goals. After two blank score sheets EVERTON picked up their biggest win of the season as they win 3-0 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE. Everton are now on a total of 12 goals as Palace picked up their 4th blank of the season. LIVERPOOL lost 1-0 away to the bottom of the table Nottingham Forest. Liverpool picked up their 2nd blank of the season. ASTON VILLA who had failed to score in their previous two games, won 4-0 at home to Brentford. Villa have taken their goals tally up to 15 goals. FULHAM won 3-2 away to LEEDS UNITED. Fulham have now scored in all of their last nine games and have taken their goals total to 22. Leeds are on a total of 16 goals after a two game dry spell. LEICESTER CITY won 4-0 away to Wolves and are now on a total of 21 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

It’s 30 goals for BURNLEY in third place now after they won 4-2 away to SUNDERLAND. Sunderland  are on a total of 21 goals.  MIDDLESBROUGH drew 0-0 at home to HUDDERSFIELD and picked up their 6th blank score sheet to Huddersfield 5th and now two games in a row. WEST BROM lost 2-1 away to Millwall and picked up goal number 21. It’s 20 goals for READING as they win 2-0 at home to Bristol City. SHEFFIELD UNITED drew 2-2 at home to NORWICH and they are on a total of 26 goals. Norwich are on a total of 27 goals. SWANSEA won 2-0 at home to Cardiff and they are on a total of 24 goals. WATFORD won 4-0 at home against LUTON and they are now on a total of 23 goals. Luton picked up their 5th blank score sheet. 

LEAGUE ONE

PLYMOUTH are still the top of the table after they drew 2-2 away to BRISTOL ROVERS. Plymouth are now on a total of 30 goals and have extended their goal run to thirteen games. Rovers are on a total of 24 goals. Ipswich are in second place. FOREST GREEN ROVERS lost 1-0 at home to Portsmouth and that is their 6th blank of the season.  LINCOLN CITY drew 1-1 at home to SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY and they are on a total of 21 goals to Wednesday’s total of 33 and a goal run of eight games now. MK DONS are bottom of the table after they lost 1-0 at home to Wycombe. The Dons have now had a total of seven blank score sheets and now just one goal in their last three games. It’s 30 goals for PETERBOROUGH after they won 2-1 away to OXFORD UNITED. Borough have now scored in all of their last six games. Oxford are on 16 goals this week. CHARLTON won 1-0 away to Shrewsbury and they are on a total of 25 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have here are still MANSFIELD TOWN in fourth place after they lost 3-2 away to CRAWLEY TOWN. Mansfield are on a total of 24 goals and have now scored in all of their last six games. Crawley have taken their goals tally to 18. GILLINGHAM drew 1-1 at home to Barrow and they are on a total of 8 goals. BRADFOED CITY picked up their 5th blank of the season as they drew 0-0 away to Grimsby. . AFC WIMBLEDON won 2-1 away to Rochdale and they are on a total of 16 goals. STOCKPORT COUNTY won 2-0 away to SALFORD CITY and they are on a total of 17 goals. Salford picked up their 4th blank and now two in a row. SUTTON UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Walsall and they are on a total of 14 goals. SWINDON won 2-1 at home against Hartlepool and they are on a total of 17 goals. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In the Premiership  CELTIC are now four points in the lead after they won 4-3 away to HEARTS. Celtic are now on a total of 47 goals. Hearts are now on a total of 18 goals. RANGERS are still in second place after they drew 1-1 at home to Livingston and they are on a total of 31 goals and a goal run of six games. ABERDEEN won 2-1 away to Motherwell to move back in to third place. Aberdeen are on a total of 42 goals.

In League One ALLOA won 2-0 away to Peterhead and they are on a total of 28 goals. KELTY HEARTS won 3-2 away to  Falkirk and they are now on a total of 14 goals. 

In SCOTTISH CUP Second Round we had just the two teams in this round and only on of them are through to the next round and they are STENHOUSEMUIR. They won 2-1 at home against East Fife and they are on a total of 29 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games. BONNYRIGG ROSE are out of the competition after they lost 3-2 away to non-league Sauchie Juniors. Bonnyrigg are on a total of 21 goals.

Our WORST three teams are 

GILLINGHAM (8) WEST HAM (9) EVERTON (12) Total of 29 goals 

Our best performing team are BURNLEY as they have now scored in all of their last fourteen league/cup games played. They have a total of 30 goals. That gives them an average score of 1.7 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM this weekend as they have picked up nine blank score sheets out of sixteen League/Cup games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL who won 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five.

MARK GREGORY has remained at the number one spot once again this weekend, after he picked up a total of  13 goals from the week. This is his second weekend at the top and now six weeks over the season. His teams are Celtic, Manchester City and Norwich. In second place now five goals behind Mark we still have our 2010/11 Champion Tony Guy with his second selection. Tony picked up a total of 10 goals from his teams of Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday.

At the other end at 108 we now have back MANDY WRIGHT who picked up just 5 goals for the week. Mandy has now been here for nine weeks over the season. Mandy’s teams are Bournemouth, Swansea and West Ham. 

We have five past Champions in the top twenty-five this week as the top ten settles down.
