Week Thirteen

In Week Thirteen of the competition we had 2 winner to share the £5 weekend prize money this weekend. Our winner are BARBARA BARNES (2) with her 2nd win of the season and ANN WELLARD, who becomes our 13th winner of the season and now the fifth lady to win. Our winners won on a score of 13 goals.

Barbara won in Week Six with her second combination on a score of 7 goals. This week’s win is her personal best weekend score and she has still only had 1 blank weekend score sheet. Celtic is now her best team. Ann started with Golden Goals back in the 2003/04 Season and finished her first season in 83rd place with a total of 228 goals. Ann did have a shared weekend win that season. Last season Ann finished in 31st place with a total of 304 goals. This season, she has reached as high as 15th place in Week One. Ann has picked up just 1 blank weekend score sheet and this is her personal best weekend score. Celtic is her best team. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

The race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has certainly picked up pace this week. What a week we have had.

BARBARA BARNES (2) has shot out in front with a 6 goal lead as she is now on a total of 35 goals. Her teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United. In second place down from one we now have DAVID BARRETT with ALFIE DIMMOCK up from three. Both with a total of 29 goals. In third place we now have RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 joint Champion up from fourth place with BRUCE SELF joining the race. Both are on a total of 27 goals. In fourth place both with a total of 26 goals we have CHRIS SETFORD and SCOTT THOMSON (1). In fifth place we have STUART KEMPT (2) and MARTIN CORBETT both with a total of 25 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had just 3 of our teams without a game over the weekend and another 8 of them failed to score any goals. We had a fairly good weekend for results. The average score for this weekend stayed at 5 goals for the second weekend running. Well done if you have received more than that from your teams. The highest score over the weekend was 6 goals and they came from the Scottish League Cup Semi-Finals where CELTIC won 6-0 against Aberdeen.

FA CUP 1st Round

In the very first round of the FA Cup, we already know that Huddersfield are out and Notts County are through to the second round, but what about the other teams of ours. Well the good news is that most of them are through. They are DONCASTER ROVERS won 1-0 away to Barrow and are on a total of 23 goals. CHESTERFIELD won 3-1 at home to non-league Horsham and are now on a total of 32 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. BLACKPOOL won 2-0 away to Gillingham and are on a total of 29 goals. PETERBOROUGH won 4-2 away to Newport County and have taken their goals tally up to 29 goals. BARNSLEY won 3-1 away to Port Vale and are now on a total of 26 goals. BROMLEY have picked up their biggest result of the season as they win 4-3 away to Rochdale and have taken their goals tally to 20. CHARLTON won 4-3 away to non-league Southend after extra time. With their biggest result of the season, Charlton are now on a total of 19 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. AFC WIMBLEDON won 2-0 away to MK DONS and are on a total of 24 goals, while the Dons picked up their sixth blank of the season. BIRMINGHAM CITY won 1-0 away to non-league Sutton Utd and are on a total of 25 goals.

Teams that went out are BOLTON after they lost 2-1 away to Walsall and hit goal number 27. WREXHAM lost 1-0 away to Harrogate Town. That is their fifth blank of the season.

PREMIER LEAGUE

We currently now have the top seven teams here with LIVERPOOL going back on top after they won 2-1 at home to Brighton. Liverpool are on a total of 27 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. MANCHESTER CITY are down to second place after they lost their first league game 2-1 away to AFC BOURNEMOUTH. As City picked up their 24th goal of the season and have extended their goal run to 12 league/cup games, Bournemouth are on a total of 13 goals. ARSENAL lost 1-0 away to NEWCASTLE and that is their second blank score sheet while Newcastle picked up goal number 14. IPSWICH TOWN drew 1-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY and are on a total of 12 goals. Leicester are on 20 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. WEST HAM lost 3-0 away to Nottingham Forest and that is their second blank of the season after a goal run of 5 games. SOUTHAMPTON have won their first league game, 1-0 at home to Everton. Southampton are on a total of 16 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE drew 2-2 away to Wolves and are on a total of 16 goals. TOTTENHAM won 4-1 at home to ASTON VILLA and have taken their goals tally to 26. Villa hit goal number 20. MANCHESTER UNITED drew 1-1 at home against CHELSEA and are on a total of 21 goals. Chelsea are on 25 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

LEEDS UNITED are in second place this weekend after they won 3-0 at home to Plymouth. Leeds are now on a total of 22 goals. It’s 20 goals for SHEFFIELD UNITED after they won 2-0 away to Blackburn Rovers. After they had failed to score in their previous 5 league games, SWANSEA CITY won 2-1 away to OXFORD UNITED and are on a total of 13 goals. Oxford picked up goal number 18. NORWICH CITY lost 2-1 away to Cardiff City and are on a total of 27 goals and now have scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. MIDDLESBOROUGH picked up their fifth blank of the season as they lost 3-0 at home to Coventry City. PORTSMOUTH drew 1-1 away to Hull City and are on a total of 13 goals and are bottom of the league. PRESTON NE lost 3-1 at home to Bristol City and are on a total of 22 goals. MILLWALL won 1-0 at home to BURNLEY and they are on a total of 17 goals. Burnley picked up their sixth blank score sheet and now 2 in a row.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

SCOTTISH LEAGUE Cup Semi-Finals, We had 2 of our teams in cup action and both of them have made through to the final. CELTIC won 6-0 at home against Aberdeen and have taken their goals tally up to 43 goals and keep their 100% scoring record after 13 league/cup games. RANGERS won 2-1 away to Motherwell and are on a total of 22 goals. It’s another old firm final to be played next month.

In the Premiership leaders Celtic remain top on goal difference. HEARTS won their second league game 2-1 away to St Johnstone and are on a total of 14 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. ROSS COUNTY drew 0-0 away to St Mirren and picked up their seventh blank score sheet and now 2 in a row. DUNDEE won 3-2 at home against KILMARNOCK. Dundee are now on a total of 41 goals while Kilmarnock are on 15 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games.

In the Championship top of the table FALKIRK won their ninth league game and their biggest result of the season as they win 6-0 at home to Greenock Morton. Falkirk have taken their goals tally up to 40 goals.

In League One, top of the table COVE RANGERS won 3-0 away to Dumbarton and are now on a total of 24. They have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 1-0 away to Arbroath and picked up their ninth blank of the season.

In League Two EAST FIFE are top of the table on goal difference as they drew 1-1 at home to Stirling and after they had failed to score in their last 2 games, are now on a total of 33 goals. It’s 20 goals for CLYDE after they drew 2-2 at home to Bonnyrigg Rose. Clyde have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. PETERHEAD won 2-1 at home to The Spartans and are on a total of 25 goals.

Our best performing team is still CELTIC after they have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. They have a total of 43 goals which gives them an average score of 3.3 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is STENHOUSEMUIR this weekend after they picked up their 9th blank score sheet from 16 league/cup games. They have a total of 20 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring teams in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.

We have a new leader this week and it’s BARBARA BARNES (2) back at the top for her second time this season. Barbara picked up a total of 20 goals this week. Her teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United. Guy Dowsett (2) has moved back down to second place this weekend and only 3 goals behind Barbara. Guy’s teams picked up a total of 12 goals this week from Arsenal, Celtic and East Fife. 

At the other end at 114 we still have MANDY WRIGHT with her seventh weekend. Mandy’s teams picked up just 4 goals this week. Her teams are Bournemouth, West Ham and AFC Wimbledon.

What a fantastic week we had for goals, so as you can see there was a slight change in the table this weekend.
