100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

So again this weekend there was not a single change in the race for the cash this week.
MICK LIDDLE is in the lead with his teams Hearts, Manchester Utd and Rangers. Mick is on a total of 24 goals. In second place with 23 goals is TONY KING. In third place we have BARBARA BARNES (2) on 22 goals while in fourth place on 21 we have CRAIG EVANS and TOM McDONALD. In fifth place we have MALCOLM CORMACK, DANIEL GOODSON and JAMES HUNTER all on 20 goals.

We had our first Rollover of £10 for this season this weekend and the winner becomes our 7th of the season winning on 10 goals and the money goes to our 2001/02 Champion LAURIE KING.
This is Laurie’s highest weekend score of the season to date and this is also his highest position so far. Laurie has been a life time player with Golden Goals and I thank him for his support over the years. He became Champion back in our 2001/02 season finishing on a grand total of 355 goals from his team then of Celtic, Man City and Rangers. That total is our highest end of season score to date but could Laurie or someone else beat that fantastic score which he has held over such a long time?
Last season, Laurie finished in 78th place on 242 goals but won no cash at all. So this is a great start for him this week. His teams are

ARSENAL 2, PETERBOROUGH 5, RANGERS 3

Big Defeat For IPSWICH

We have had just two of our Golden Goals teams in midweek action this week and only one of them scored.
That team was IPSWICH from the English Championship where they suffered their biggest defeat of the season away to Reading. The result went 5-1 to Reading but that gave Ipswich their 17th goal of the season and it extends their goals run to eight games. This is also their lowest number of goals scored in any game this season.

Hearts from the Scottish Premiership had scored in all of their previous eight games, but on Friday night they picked up their first blank score sheet as they lost 2-0 away to Inverness CT.

Just Two Results This Week

We have only two of our teams in midweek action this week and the good news is that they both managed to pick up some goals.
On Monday night SOUTHEND played Coventry away in League One with the score ending in a draw 2-2. Southend up till then had only played five games and in their last four they have failed to score any goals. They are now on a total of three goals so this is their highest score to date.
Southend are in their 13th Season with Golden Goals and they are our 48th voted English team. Their highest end of season score is 74 goals which was back in our 1990/91 Season. The last time out they scored a total of 68 and that was back in our 2013/14 Season. They have two votes this season.

In the Scottish League One, STENHOUSEMUIR played against Ayr and lost 5-2 away.  The goals take their total to 11 goals after six games played. Stenhousemuir are in their 9th Season with us and their highest score is of 72 goals back in our 2012/13 Season. They are our 9th voted Scottish team. Last season they finished on 53 goals. This season once again they have just one vote.

Week Four

STEVEN CADWELL has become our fourth person to go top this weekend as he’s combination of teams pick him up a total of 15 goals for the week. He had six goals from midweek and nine from  the weekend with Berwick 2, Leyton Orient 2 and Rangers 5. A very close second this weekend is now TONY KING who also picked up a total of 15 goals for the week. Tony has Hull, QPR and Rangers.

At the other end, JOHN NICHOLLS is in his third weekend at number 119 as he picks up four in midweek from Newcastle and just one more goal at the weekend from his combination. The single goal came from Arsenal. His other teams are Bolton who had no game and Newcastle who picked up yet another blank score sheets this weekend.

In Week Four in our 33rd Season we had just one winner this weekend who picked up a total of 10 goals. This does not change our winners total of six players as our winner has already won some cash this season.
Our winner for his second win of the season goes to DANIEL GOODSON but this time he takes all of  the £5 Weekend Cash Prize Money.  Daniel shared the cash in week two and since then he has scored in every midweek and weekend. This weekend he picked up a total of 17 goals from his combination.  He has still had one blank score sheet from week one and his best team is Rangers netting him 22 of his total of 44 goals. This is the highest that he has been so far in the season. His teams are once again

MANCHESTER CITY 2, MIDDLEBROUGH 3, RANGERS 5

MIDWEEK RESULTS
We had thirty of our teams in action last week and one of them played twice. But out of them, seven failed to pick up any goals.
The highest score of the week came from two of our teams, EVERTON and RANGERS with five goals each both from our domestic cup games. EVERTON have made it through to the next round of the Capital One Cup as they beat Barnsley 5-3 after extra time in the second round. This is Everton’s highest score to date and that brings their goals tally up to 10 goals.
In the Scottish Communities League Cup Second Round RANGERS go through to round three after they won 5-0 away to Airdrie.
So starting off our cup games, in the Capital One Second Round games, we had a total of twenty Golden Goals teams in action. Out of them only ten of them have made it through to round three. We had three teams that picked up the highest score with four goals each. They came from CHARLTON, IPSWICH and NEWCASTLE. CHARLTON beat PETERBOROUGH 4-1 away and that takes their goals total to 13 while Borough picked up goal number seven. In the English Championship, BOLTON managed to score their first goal of the season last weekend and we thought that they were at last on the goal ladder, but how wrong we were. Bolton Played Blackburn away and drew 0-0. This was their 5th blank score sheet of the season and now just one goal in six games this season played. FALKIRK in the Scottish Championship won their game 2-1 at home to Dumbarton. They have now scored in all of their six games and they are now on a total of 12 goals. Both teams have just one vote each.s weekend.

RANGERS (22) HEARTS (21) CELTIC (16) Total of 59 goals

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE

BOLTON (1) SOUTHEND (1) WATFORD (2) Total of 4 goals

Our worst team this week is BOLTON once again. After six games which is a cup game and five league games, Bolton  have picked up just one goal in the five games that they have played to date.

Our Best team this weekend is RANGERS after scoring in all of their six League and Cup games played they are on a total of 22 goals which is about four goals per game.

Our highest scoring teams in our 33rd Season are EVERTON, FALKIRK and RANGERS. Everton won 5-3 against Barnsley in the Second Round of the Capital One Cup in Week Four. Falkirk won 5-0 in the Scottish Communities League Cup First Round against East Stirling in Week One, while Rangers have now scored five goals three time already this season. First they won against  Alloa in Week Two 5-1 away in a league game. Then in Week Four they won 5-0 against Airdrie in the Second Round of the Scottish Communities League Cup and then at the weekend in another league game winning 5-1 away to Queen Of The South.

We had four of our teams that picked up their first blank score sheet this week but we still have thirteen teams that still have a 100% scoring record of which five of them are Scottish teams.

In Week Four it's all change again at the top.
