We had quite
a few of our teams in action on New Years Day and no really big
score’s on the day. Still Arsenal kept their top position in the English Premiership as they beat Cardiff
2-0 at home. That now gives the Gunners a total of 40 goals. Manchester City in second
place won 3-2 away to Swansea and moves their tally to 67. Swnsea are on 27 goals. Chelsea in third place won 3-0 away
to Southampton and they are now on a total of 43 goals. Liverpool are fourth
and on 50 goals as they win 2-0 at home to Hull. Tottenham beat Manchester United 2-1 away to give them a total of 31 goals to United’s 40. Crystal Palace picked up
goal number 14 as they drew 1-1 at home to Norwich.
In the
Championship Leicester City won 3-1 away to Millwall to take their goals total to 56 while after a
three game dry spell for goals, QPR are now on 28 as they win 2-1 at home to Doncaster. Doncaster are now on 21 goals. Blackpool
picked up their 7th blank score sheet of the season as
they lost 2-0 away to Sheff Wed. Reading picked up their 31st goal of the season as they drew 1-1 at home to Nottingham Forest. Forest
scored their 40th goal of the season.
Fleetwood
after a three game dry spell won 3-1 at home to
Accrington and take their goals tally to 42. It’s 37 for Scunthorpe as they win
3-0 at home to Rochdate.
In Scotland, Celtic won 1-0 at home to Partick
to give them a total of 48 goals while Aberdeen are on 39 as they win 2-1 away to Dundee Utd.
We had a few
Scottish games last night where Rangers won 1-0 away to Airdrie and are now on 71 goals. Rangers have scored five
goals this week. Stenhousemuir lost 2-1 at home to Dunfermline but that was their 41st goal of the
season.
