Week Twenty-Seven

This weekends average score went back down to just 3 goals as we had three teams that had no game and another tweleve teams that failed to score any goals. This is not a great season for goals and who ever wins this season it still could be our lowest yet although we all picked up some goals.
But we had two teams that picked up the highest score of four goals each and they both came from the English Championship league, DERBY and NORWICH.

Derby won 4-1 at home to Bolton and that still keeps them in second place in the league behind Bournemouth. Derby are now on 70 goals. Derby are in their 12th Season with Golden Goals and they are our 46th team to join us. Derby’s highest score is 104 goals back in our 1985/86 Season. Last time out they finished on 78 goals back in our 2008/09. Over the seasons the have netted a total of 834 goals to date. This gives them an average of 69.5 goals per season.

Norwich won 4-0 at home to Blackpool and that take stheir goals tally to 57 goals. Norwich are in their 13th Season and they are our 34th team to join Golden Goals. Norwich highest score is 102 goals back in our 2009/10 Season. Last time out in 2010/11, they finished on a total of 88 goals. Their average score over the seasons is 68 goals per season.

QPR are still our worst team this weekend as they picked up another blank score sheet at the weekend. Rangers have played a total of 26 games and they have picked up a total of eleven blank score sheets.

ROTHERHAM have picked up the most number of  blank score sheets in our 32nd season.  After a total of 32 games played, Rotherham have picked up 30 goals and  had a total of 13 blank score sheets to date.

We have had three teams that have now picked up the highest score this season. First MANCHESTER CITY won their Capital One Cup third round tie against Sheffield Wednesday 7-0 at home.  MK DONS won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the league and WATFORD have won 7-2 at home to Blackpool also in the league.

Manchester City had a record breaking end of season score of 137 goals from last season and they will not be beating it this season. In Week twenty-seven last season, City failed to score in midweek and they failed to score again at the weekend. Their goals tally has remained at 97 goals after thirty-three games played. They have now had four blank score sheet’s and their highest score was seven goals against Norwich in the league.
This season they had no midweek game once again and they only picked up one goal against Hull at the weekend. So City are still on a total of 56 goals this weekend. But they have had a total of four blank score sheet after twenty-eight games played. They are now 41 goals behind last seasons record run. They are away to Stoke in midweek and they have no game at the weekend.

Here is how our top ten looks this weekend and as you can see we had two winners this weekend.
