Week Twenty-Nine

This weekends average score shot up from three goals from last weekend to 7 goals this weekend. We really had another great weekend for goals. We had three teams that had no game as they played on Friday night and another nine teams that failed to score any goals.
The highest score that we had came from English League Two where PORTSMOUTH picked up their highest score of the season with a 6-2 away win over Cambridge United. Portsmouth have taken their goals tally to 39.
This is Portsmouth 17th Season with Golden Goals and they are our 51st English team to play. They first started in our third season of 1985/86 and they finished on a total of 82 goals which was a very good score for that season, and for them. Their highest score of 101goals came in our 2002/03 Season and last season they finished on a total of 57. Over the season’s they have netted a total of 1061 goals to date which now gives them an average total of 62 goals per season.

THE WORST THREE TEAMS ARE…

QPR (27) WIGAN (29) STENHOUSEMUIR (33) Total of 89 goals.

QPR are still our worst team this weekend even though they picked up a single goal at the weekend. Rangers have played a total of 28 games and they have picked up a total of eleven blank score sheets.

We have had two teams that have picked up the highest number of blank score sheets to date. They are ROTHERHAM and WIGAN. Both have picked up a total of 14 blank score sheets each to date.

We have had three teams that have now picked up the highest score this season. First MANCHESTER CITY won their Capital One Cup third round tie against Sheffield Wednesday 7-0 at home.  MK DONS won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the league and WATFORD have won 7-2 at home to Blackpool also in the league.

Manchester City had that record breaking end of season score of 137 goals last season but that will not be beating it this season. In Week twenty-nine last season, City had no game in midweek again and they picked up one goal at the weekend. That goal was their 100th of the season after thirty-five games played. They have had four blank score sheet’s and their highest score was seven goals against Norwich in the league.
This season they picked up five goals at the weekend but they had no game in midweek. So City are now on a total of 65 goals this weekend and they have had a total of four blank score sheet after thirty games played. They are clawing back the goals difference and are now 35 goals behind last seasons record run. They are away to Liverpool at the weekend.

Here we are the top ten leaders in this weeks table. CRAIG EVANS is the longest person to stay at the top this season with a total of eight weeks. Craig picked up a total of twelve goals this week from his combination of Chelsea, Derby and Man City. He has still had three blank score sheets to date and Craig is just one goal clear of James Somerville who moves up to second place this weekend. We have now had a total of 11 people that have now reached the 200 goals mark.
