Week Fourteen

It’s Week Fourteen and we have had our sixteenth winner of the season and it was won on a total of 14 goals which now becomes our second highest score of season 34.  The £6 cash weekend jackpot went to our 1994/95 Champion GEOFF DOCKERILL.
Geoff is a veteran with Golden Goals and as you can see that he became Champion way back in the 1994/95 Season where he finished on a total of 274 goals which ranks him 31st place in our Champions League. Last season Geoff finished in 73rd place out of 119 on 244 goals. This season he has picked up two blank score sheets for the weekend and this is his personal best score and his highest position so far. His best team is Celtic netting him 42 of his total of 116 goals. Here are his teams for this season.

CELTIC 3, CHELSEA 5, LIVERPOOL 6

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only six of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals and out of them it was ARTHUR BROWN that picked up the most amount with the three goals from Stoke City. His other teams are Celtic and Manchester United. Arthur now has a midweek total of 25 goals. So only one of the leaders for the cash picked up some goals but there was no change in the running order. DAVID SMITHERS is still top this week as he has a total of 60 goals. His teams are Chelsea, Newcastle and Rangers. David’s lead has now been cut to just three goals as CHRIS SETFORD still in second place picked up a single goal from Millwall to take his goal tally to 57 goals. In third place on a total of 55 goals we still have TONY GUY (2), MANGO and GRANT PHILLIPS. In fourth place we have DARYL NICHOLLS on a total of 54 goals. In fifth place both on 52 goals we still have PETER GASPARELLI and STEPTOE & SON. In sixth place this week we have ANDY EYLES on a total of 51 goals while in seventh place all on 50 goals we have JOHN DAVIES, TONY KING and IAN SMITH.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekends average score for the second weekend running remained at 6 goals.  We had a really great weekend for goals with two of our teams picking up six goals each. Out of our fifty-four teams that we have in season 34, we had four teams that had no game over the weekend and only four teams that failed to net any goals.
We usually get a high score in the first round of the FA Cup and we were not disappointed over the weekend as SHEFFIELD UNITED beat LEYTON ORIENT 6-0 at home. That was United’s highest score of the season and that now takes their goals tally to 33. The other team to pick up six goals came from the English Championship was LIVERPOOL who beat Watford 6-1 at home. That took Liverpool to the top of the table with a total of 40 goals.

FA CUP First Round
We had a total of nineteen of our teams playing in the first round of the cup and out of them only ten have made it through to the next round so far, although we have another three of our teams involved in replays.

PLYMOUTH are through as they won 2-1 away to Mansfield the goals takes Plymouth’s total to 28. It’s 28 for the MK DONS as they win 3-2 at home against none-league Spennymoor. After a two game dry spell for goals, OLDHAM are through to round two as they win 2-1 at home to DONCASTER. Now the teams that drew their games and are waiting for replays are BRISTOL ROVERS who drew 1-1 away to Crawley to pick up goal number 30 while GILLINGHAM drew 2-2 at home against non-league Brackley to take their goals tally to 29. Yeovil also drew 2-2 at home to non-league Solihull Moors and that gives them a total of 18 goals.
