It’s Week Fourteen and we have had our sixteenth
winner of the season and it was won on a total of 14 goals which now becomes our
second highest score of season 34. The £6
cash weekend jackpot went to our 1994/95 Champion GEOFF DOCKERILL.
Geoff is a
veteran with Golden Goals and as you can see that he became Champion way
back in the 1994/95 Season where he finished on a total of 274 goals which
ranks him 31st place in our Champions League. Last season Geoff
finished in 73rd place out of 119 on 244 goals. This season he has
picked up two blank score sheets for the weekend and this is his personal best
score and his highest position so far. His best team is Celtic netting him 42
of his total of 116 goals. Here are his teams for this season.
CELTIC 3, CHELSEA 5, LIVERPOOL 6
Only six of
us managed to pick up some more midweek goals and out of them it was ARTHUR BROWN that picked up the most amount with the three goals from
Stoke City. His other teams are Celtic and Manchester United. Arthur now has a
midweek total of 25 goals. So only one of the leaders for the cash picked up
some goals but there was no change in the running order. DAVID SMITHERS is still top this week as he has a total of 60 goals. His teams are
Chelsea, Newcastle and Rangers. David’s lead has now been cut to just three
goals as CHRIS SETFORD still in
second place picked up a single goal from Millwall to take his goal tally to 57
goals. In third place on a total of 55 goals we still have TONY GUY (2), MANGO and GRANT
PHILLIPS. In fourth place we have DARYL
NICHOLLS on a total of 54 goals. In fifth place both on 52 goals we still have
PETER GASPARELLI and STEPTOE & SON. In sixth place this
week we have ANDY EYLES on a total
of 51 goals while in seventh place all on 50 goals we have JOHN DAVIES, TONY KING and IAN
SMITH.
This
weekends average score for the second weekend running remained at 6 goals. We had a really great weekend for goals with
two of our teams picking up six goals each. Out of our fifty-four teams that we
have in season 34, we had four teams that had no game over the weekend and only
four teams that failed to net any goals.
We usually
get a high score in the first round of the FA
Cup and we were not disappointed over the weekend as SHEFFIELD UNITED beat LEYTON ORIENT 6-0 at home. That was
United’s highest score of the season and that now takes their goals tally to
33. The other team to pick up six goals came from the English Championship was LIVERPOOL
who beat Watford 6-1 at home. That took Liverpool to the top of the table with
a total of 40 goals.
We had a total of nineteen of our teams playing in the first
round of the cup and out of them only ten have made it through to the next
round so far, although we have another three of our teams involved in replays.
So we already know that Sheffield United are through
and that Orient are out but also through to round two are PORT VALE
who beat Stevenage 1-0 at home. That was Port Vale’s 22nd goal of
the season. CHARLTON are also through as they win 3-1 at home to SCUNTHORPE.
Charlton are now on 21 goals while Scunthorpe hit their 40th goal of
the season and are out of the cup. LUTON are on 30 goals as they win
3-1 away to Exeter while PORTSMOUTH are out as they lost 2-1 at home to
Wycombe and that goal was their 26th of the season. PLYMOUTH
are through as they won 2-1 away to Mansfield the goals takes Plymouth’s total
to 28. It’s 28 for the MK DONS as they win 3-2 at home against
none-league Spennymoor. After a two game dry spell for goals, OLDHAM are
through to round two as they win 2-1 at home to DONCASTER. Oldham are
now on a total of 13 goals while Doncaster are out but keep their 100% goal
scoring run in tack with 32 goals in seventeen games. ACCRINGTON STANLEY
are through as they win 2-1 away to BRADFORD. Accrington are now on a total of 22 goals while Bradford picked up
goal number 23. WALSALL go out as they lost 1-0 at home to non-league
Macclesfield. That is their fifth blank of the season. COLCHESTER are on
20 goals but lost 2-1 at home to Chesterfield. PETERBOROUGH
are through as they win
2-1 at home against non-league Chesham. Borough are now on a total of 32 goals.
Now the teams that drew their games and are waiting for replays are BRISTOL
ROVERS who drew 1-1 away to Crawley to pick up goal number 30 while GILLINGHAM
drew 2-2 at home against non-league Brackley to take their goals tally to 29.
Yeovil also drew 2-2 at home to non-league Solihull Moors and that gives them a
total of 18 goals.
This weekend we have the top seven teams here with LIVERPOOL
going top after their biggest result of the season. CHELSEA move in to second place as they
win 5-0 at home to EVERTON. Chelsea with their biggest score of the
season are now on a total of 34 goals while Everton picked up their third blank
of the season and move down to seventh place. MANCHESTER CITY have
fallen down to third place after they drew 1-1 at home to Middlesbrough. That
was City’s 27th goal of the season. ARSENAL have moved down
to fourth place after they drew 1-1 at home to London rivals TOTTENHAM. Arsenal
are now on 30 goals while Tottenham hit goal number 21 and remained in fifth
place. After just one goal in their last four games, MANCHESTER UNITED
have moved back up to sixth place as they win 3-1 away to Swansea. United are
now on 20 goals. SOUTHAMPTON picked up goal number 15 as they lost 2-1
away to Hull after going a goal up in the first half. LEICESTER CITY are
on 15 goals but lost 2-1 at home to West Brom. WEST HAM drew 1-1 at home
to Stoke and that gave them goal number 14 while Stoke are on 18. BOURNEMOUTH
lost 2-1 at home against Sunderland and that was their 17th goal
after a two game dry spell for goals.
CHAMPIONSHIP
NEWCASTLE have remained top here again after they
win 2-1 at home to CARDIFF. Newcastle have won twelve of their sixteen
league games and they are now on a total of 44 goals. Cardiff are now on 14
goals. BRIGHTON are still in second place after they beat Bristol City
2-0 away to take their goals tally to 34. NORWICH have fallen down to
fifth place as they lost 3-2 at home to LEEDS UNITED who are now in
sixth. Norwich are now on 38 goals while Leeds are on 25. ASTON VILLA
are on 18 goals as they win 2-1 at home to Blackburn. After a two game dry
spell for goals QUEENS PARK RANGERS now on a total of 22 goals as

Rotherham and they are now on 28 goals while SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY picked
up goal number 18 as they lost 2-1 at home to Ipswich. DERBY picked up
their biggest result of the season as they beat WOLVES 3-2 away. Derby
are now on 14 goals while Wolves are on 23.
In the Scottish Premiership CELTIC have now won ten of their eleven
league games as they win 3-0 at home to Inverness. Celtic remained top again
this weekend and have kept their 100% scoring record in tack with a total of 42
goals. Aberdeen have moved up to
second place after their win on Friday night which means that RANGERS have moved down to third place
after they drew 1-1 away to Ross County after going a goal up in the first
eight minutes. KILMARNOCK picked up
their sixth blank of the season and now two in a row as they drew 0-0 at home
to Hamilton. St JOHNSTONE are still
in fifth place as they drew 2-2 away to Hearts. Johnstone are now on a total of
31 goals.
In the Championship it’s now 22 goals for HIBERNIAN as they win 3-0 away to Ayr to
remain top once again this week. FALKIRK
drew 1-1 at home to Morton to
take their goals tally to 21.
In the
lower leagues, PETERHEAD lost 3-1 at
home to Brechin and the single goal now gives them a total of 23 goals while STENHOUSEMUIR
lost 4-1 away to Alloa to take their goals total to 17 so they still remain
bottom of the league.
