Week Sixteen

It’s Week Sixteen of Season 34 and we had just the one winner this weekend who picks up our fourth Rollover of £12 on a score of 8 goals. They also become our seventeenth winner of the season and that person is VINCE CRUICKSHANK.
Vince has been with the competition for a while now and last season he finished in 70th place on a total of 246 goals. This weekend we see Vince at his highest position to date and he has had just two blank score sheets at the weekend. His best team is Newcastle netting 46 of his total of 102 goals. His teams are

HIBERNIAN 4, MANCHESTER CITY 2, NEWCASTLE 2 

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Over half of you managed to pick up some goals this week with JOHN NICHOLLS that picked up the most with a total of five goals. Taking his midweek total to 37 his teams are Brighton, Bristol Rovers and Portsmouth.
So there has been a slight change for the race for the cash this weekend. DAVID SMITHERS is still top and still with a total of 60 goals. His teams are Chelsea, Newcastle and Rangers. Still in second place with 57 goals is CHRIS SETFORD. In third place both on a total of 56 goals we still have GRANT PHILLIPS but up from fourth place we have DARYL NICHOLLS joining him. In fourth place we have TONY GUY (2) and MANGO both down from third place with 55 goals. In fifth place on 53 goals we still have STEPTOE & SON. In sixth place down from five we have PETER GASPARELLI on a total of 52 goals while in seventh place all on 51 goals we have ANDY EYLES and IAN SMITH. The good news this weekend is that we now have a total of thirteen players that are now over the 50 goals mark. 

WEEKEND RESULTS
 At last we had most of our teams in action over the weekend but the average score was just 3 goals. It was a bit of an disaster as fourteen of our teams failed to score any goals over the weekend.
The highest score that we had came from the Scottish Championship where HIBERNIAN beat Queen of South 4-0 at home to remain top of that league. Hibs are now on a total of 27 goals.

PREMIERSHIP
CHELSEA have now gone top of the premiership this weekend as they win just 1-0 away to Middlesbrough to take their goals tally to 35. LIVERPOOL go down a place as they drew 0-0 away to SOUTHAMPTON to pick up their third blank of the season while Southampton picked up their fourth. MANCHESTER CITY remained in third place as they win 2-1 away to Crystal Palace. City are now on 29 goals. ARSENAL are still fourth as they drew 1-1 away to MANCHESTER UNITED. Arsenal picked up their 31st goal of the season while United are on just 21 goals and still in sixth place in the league. TOTTENHAM are in fifth place as they win very late at home against London rivals WEST HAM 3-2. Tottenham are now on 24 goals to West Ham’s 16. It’s 20 goals for EVERTON as they drew 1-1 at home to Swansea. BOURNEMOUTH are now on 18 goals as they win 1-0 away to STOKE who picked up their third blank of the season. LEICESTER CITY are on 16 goals as they lost 2-1 away to Watford.  

CHAMPIONSHIP
We have just three of the top six here this weekend as NEWCASTLE remained top after their 2-0 away win over LEEDS UNITED. Newcastle are now on a total of 46 goals while Leeds picked up their fifth blank score sheet. Brighton are second after their midweek result with Aston Villa while NORWICH have fallen down to sixth place after they lost 2-1 away to QUEENS PARK RANGERS. Norwich are now on 39 goals while Rangers are now on 24 goals. BRENTFORD are on 23 goals but lost 3-2 away to Blackburn. CARDIFF picked up their highest score of the season as they win 3-2 at home to Huddersfield and that pushes their goals tally up to 17 goals. DERBY picked up another three goals in their 3-0 home win against Rotherham. Derby are now on a total of 17 goals. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY picked up another single goal in their 1-1 draw against Fulham away. Wednesday are now on 19 goals. PRESTON picked up their sixth blank of the season as they drew 0-0 at home to WOLVES who picked up their seventh blank. 

LEAGUE ONE
We are now down to four of the six top teams here with SCUNTHORPE still top as they win 1-0 at home to OLDHAM. Scunthorpe are now on a total of 42 goals while Oldham picked up their thirteenth blank and now two games in a row. SHEFFIELD UNITED are now in second place as they win 2-1 at home against Shrewsbury. United are now on 39 goals with fourteen goals coming from their last four games. BRADFORD have fallen down to fourth place as they lost 3-0 away to SOUTHEND. After their biggest result of the season last weekend, Bradford picked up their fifth blank of the season. Southend are now on 26 goals. PETERBOROUGH are still in fifth place as they win 1-0 again away to Northampton. Borough are now on 34 goals. WALSALL picked up their 22nd goal of the season but lost 2-1 at home to GILLINGHAM. Gillingham are now on 36 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games. MILLWALL lost 2-0 away to Bolton to pick up their second blank of the season while BRISTOL ROVERS picked up their third as they drew 0-0 at home to MK DONS. MK Dons picked up their fifth blank. CHARLTON are on 23 goals as they win 2-0 at home against PORT VALE who picked up their fifth blank score sheet. 

LEAGUE TWO
We still have four of the top seven teams here with PLYMOUTH once again staying on top after they lost 3-0 at home to Grimsby. Plymouth who had scored in all of their previous fifteen games picked up their fourth blank score sheet of the season. DONCASTER are still in third place after they win 2-1 at home to Hartlepool and that take’s their goals tally to 37. They have kept their 100% goal scoring record going after nineteen games this season. In fourth place is now LUTON who won 2-0 away to Morecombe and they are now on a total of 33 goals. PORTSMOUTH are now down to fourth place as they drew 1-1 away to Cheltenham. Portsmouth are on 31 goals. YEOVIL won 2-1 at home to COLCHESTER to take their goals tally up to 23 while Colchester hit goal number 21. LEYTON ORIENT are on 22 but they lost 2-1 at home against Blackpool.  ACCRINGTON STANLEY have now picked up their sixth blank and now two games in a row as they lost 1-0 at home to Stevenage. 

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership, Celtic are still top after their game on Friday night with ABERDEEN in second place as they win 3-1 away to Inverness. Aberdeen take their goals tally to 27 goals. RANGERS picked up their 37th goal as they won just 1-0 at home to Dundee to keep their third place in the league. St JOHNSTONE are in fifth place as they lost 4-2 at home to Ross County. Johnstone’s goal total is now up to 33.
In the Championship Hibernian are top after their big win with FALKIRK in fifth place as they win 1-0 away to Ayr. Falkirk picked up goal number 23. In the lower leagues, PETERHEAD beat the league leaders Livingston 2-1 away to give them a total of 25 goals while STENHOUSEMUIR remained bottom of league one as they lost 3-1 away to Stranraer but the goal takes them up to 18.

Our Best team on form is CELTIC after they have scored in all of their fifteen League and Cup games played and netting a total of 43 goals which now drops down to an average score of two goals per game.

Our worst teams is  OLDHAM  this weekend as they have picked up a total of thirteenth blank score sheets out of twenty-one games played.

Our highest goal scorers in our 34th Season are  LIVERPOOL after they won 6-1 at home against Watford in the league in week fourteen and SHEFFIELD UNITED winning 6-0 at home to LEYTON ORIENT in the First Round of the FA Cup also in week fourteen. BOURNEMOUTH  after their 6-1 home win against Hull in the league in week eleven.  CELTIC with their 6-1 home League win against Kilmarnock from week eight. NEWCASTLE winning 6-0 away to Q. P. R in the league in week seven and 6-1 away to Preston in the EFL League Cup Fourth Round in week thirteen.  NORWICH by winning 6-1 at home to Coventry in the EFL League Cup Second Round in week four. 

DANIEL GOODSON is in his third weekend at the top and now four over the season but his combination picked him up one goal in midweek from Celtic while at the weekend he picked up just two goals from Newcastle as Liverpool failed to score in their game. His teams are Celtic, Liverpool and Newcastle. Dan is just one goal clear of  June Tighe who moves into second place this weekend. June’s teams are Celtic, Newcastle and Sheffield United.
At the other end at 136 we still have SANDRA NICHOLLS there as her combination picked her up a total of three goals over the weekend. Sandra is now in her fifth weekend at the bottom over the season. Sandra’s teams are Everton, Leicester City and Manchester United and she is now three goals behind 135.
