So
the first week of the new entry forms being out and we have a total of 104. We
still need many more to beat last season’s grand total of 136.
It
has been very hard this season to give the players their selected teams and by
the way the voting is going, you can see why. Over the years we have had four
teams that have appeared in ever season and the good news is that they are all
back in. The teams are Celtic, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.
Still
top with the voting and smashing their own record is Celtic. They are currently
on a total of 84 votes. That beats their highest number of votes from the
2002/03 Season with 70. Staying with our Scottish teams and there are six at
the moment, we welcome for their first season with Golden Goals, Elgin City
from the Scottish League Two with a single vote. After last season’s
performance, Rangers have only picked up six votes, which could be their lowest
on record while Aberdeen, Peterhead and Stenhousemuir all have just one vote
each.
We
had thirty-eight English teams with Manchester City picking up the most with 30
votes. They are followed by Arsenal with 19 votes, Chelsea with 18 and Tottenham
with 16. Fulham, Liverpool and Manchester United all with 15 votes while
Norwich have 9 votes.
It’s
good to see Lincoln City back in the league two after they became National
League winners after a stay of six season’s there. Also for the very first time
is Forest Green also starting in League Two this season and it’s their first
time in their history. Both currently have just a vote each.
We
have eleven out of our 35 Champions playing this season but we do hope that a
few more will join in. John Wood who was last season’s champion, will be with
us but he is still sorting out his teams.
If
you have been following Golden Goals over last season, you
will know quite a lot of what goes on. So why not join in the fun this season.
