Week Twenty-Two

In Week Twenty-Two of the competition and we had just one player to pick up the full amount of cash this weekend with his first win of the season and it went to BEN SCARBOROUGH who now becomes our 30th winner and the last of 2017. Ben won on a score of 9 goals which is his personal best. This is his first season with us and it has been a struggle for him.
The highest that Ben has been is 122 and his teams have scored in very weekend played so far. Chelsea is his best team.

CHELSEA 5, EXETER 2, FULHAM 2

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We have now doubled the total number of players that are on 50 or more midweek goals to a fantastic eighty-seven and this is all down to the Boxing day games. We had three players that picked up the most with 12 goals each and they all had Tottenham as part of their combo. They were GARY BROWN, JASON COOPER and SORAN SEYEDI.  So with the big scores that we had the race for the cash has changed slightly again this week.
In first place on 67 goals we have JAMES BLYTH who is now joined with DAVE WOOD from second place . In second place on 66 goals we now have ROB FREEMAN from three and TONY GUY (1) moving up from four. In third place with 65 goals we have STEPHEN LEADER up from fourth place. In fourth place all on 64 goals we still  have MATT DORAN and TONY GUY (2). Moving down from three is MIKE PEPPERRELL and moving into the race with have PHIL FRANCKSEN and STEPHANIE CHRISTIE. In fifth place all on 63 goals we have SIMON DICKINSON and (Me) STEVE REEVE. Joining us we have BOB SAWYER and JUNE TIGHE.

WEEKEND RESULTS
The last fixture of 2017 was a very quite one with this weekends average score falling down to just 2 goals.  This weekend we had nine teams without a game and another fifteen teams that failed to score any goals.
The highest score that we had over the weekend was six goals and they came from the Scottish League Two where Peterhead won 6-2 away to Montrose. Peterhead have now scored in all of their last ten games with a total of 57 goals.

PREMIERSHIP
We still have the top six teams here this weekend with MANCHESTER CITY still very much on top but they drew 0-0 away to CRYSTAL PALACE. After a goal run of twelve games, City picked up their second blank of the season. Palace picked up their twelfth. CHELSEA have moved into second place after they won 5-0 home to Stoke. Chelsea are now on a total of 48 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED have moved down to third place as they drew 0-0 at home to Southampton.  United have picked up their third blank of the season. In fourth place we still have LIVERPOOL who won 2-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY.  Liverpool are now on 48 goals to Leicester’s 41. ARSENAL are now in fifth place as they drew 1-1 away to WEST BROM to pick up their 42nd goal while West Brom hit goal number 19. Tottenham have moved down to sixth place. BOURNEMOUTH are on 27 goals as they win 2-1 at home to EVERTON who are now on 29 goals.NEWCASTLE picked up their second consecutive blank and now ten over the season as they drew 0-0 at home to Brighton.

CHAMPIONSHIP
We still have WOLVES on top as they win 2-1 away to Bristol City. Wolves are now on a total of 51 goals. As Cardiff drop down to fourth place,  LEEDS UNITED are still in fifth place after they lost 1-0 away to BIRMINGHAM. As Leeds picked up their sixth blank of the season,. Birmingham are now on 19 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED are in sixth place but lost 1-0 at home to BOLTON. United picked up their sixth blank of the season while Bolton are now on 29 goals. READING are on 35 goals as they drew 1-1 away to Barnsley while BRENTFORD are on 47 as they win 2-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. BURTON ALBION drew 0-0 at home to NORWICH to pick up their twelfth blank of the season while Norwich have had seven. FULHAM drew 2-2 away to HULL to take their goals tally to 37 while Hull take their’s to 39.
After a two game dry spell for goals IPSWICH lost 2-1 at home to Derby. Ipswich are now on 45 goals. ASTON VILLA won 1-0 away to MIDDLESBROUGH and they are now on 39 goals. Brough picked up blank number seven. SUNDERLAND are on 32 goals as they win 1-0 away to Nottingham Forest.

LEAGUE ONE
BLACKBURN drew 2-2 at home to SCUNTHORPE to take their goals tally to 54 while Scunthorpe are on 40. PLYMOUTH drew 2-2 away to Blackpool and they are now on 27 goals. BRADFORD are on 37 goals as they win 3-2 at home to Oxford. FLEETWOOD won 2-0 away to Bury and that has taken their goals tally to 41. MK DONS are on 37 as they win 1-0 at home to PETERBOROUGH who picked up their fifth blank of the season. PORTSMOUTH won 3-1 at home to Northampton and they are now on 33 goals. SOUTHEND lost 2-1 at home to Shrewsbury but they are now on a total of 30 goals.

LEAGUE TWO
PORT VALE picked up their biggest win against leaders LUTON as they win 4-0 at home. Vale are now on 35 goals while Luton picked up their eighth blank of the season. COVENTRY won 1-0 away to Carlsile and that is their 33rd goal of the season. COLCHESTER picked up their seventh blank of the season as they drew 0-0 away to Chesterfield. EXETER won 2-1 at home to Barnet and they are now on a total of 43 goals. LINCOLN CITY won 2-1 at home to FOREST GREEN to give them a total of 34 goals to Greens 29. MANSFIELD are on 41 goals as they win 2-1 away to Wycombe.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC picked up their second blank of the season as they drew 0-0 at home to rivals RANGERS. Rangers have now had a total of five blank score sheets and remain in third place. Second place ABERDEEN drew 0-0 at home to Hearts to pick up their seventh blank score sheet.
In the Championship FALKIRK won 3-2 at home to Queen of South and that now gives them a total of 26 goals. In League One RAITH ROVERS won 3-0 at home to Stranraer and they are now on 46 goals.

The team with the best run of goals is currently BLACKBURN who have scored in all of their last thirteen games.

BIRMINGHAM have picked up the most number of blank score sheets with a total of thirteen out of twenty-seven games played.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 35th Season is PETERHEAD from the Scottish League Two. They picked up our highest score in week eleven as they won 9-0 at home to non-league team Colville Park in the WILLIAM HILL CUP Second Round. 

Our 2013/14 Champion PAUL DAVEY  is now in his seventh consecutive weekend at  number one. Paul’s combination picked him up eight goals in midweek but none at the weekend. Paul has Celtic, Luton and Manchester City. Chris Bolbery has remained in second place after picking up a total of three goals all coming from midweek. 
At the other end at number 149 we still have COLIN PINDER who is now spending his ninth consecutive weekend there and now eleven over the Season. Colin picked up eight  goals from his combination. His teams are Colchester, Crystal Palace and Southend.
