Day Two

It’s the first full day of football where each day from now on we will have three games per day in the first  group round. We had four of our teams in action in day two.

In Group A EGYPT lost 1-0 to URUGUAY in their first game. Egypt are appearing in their first World Cup with Golden Goals and they have a total of four votes and they did very well against Uruguay. It was 0-0 at half time and Uruguay had to wait till the 89^th minute before they scored the winning goal by Giménez. Uruguay are in their 3^rd World Cup with us and they have a total of seven votes. The most number of goals that they have scored for us is four goals in the Brazilian World Cup of 2014. They finished second in their group but was knocked out by Columbia in the second round. So after the first set of games, Russia are top with three points on goal difference with Uruguay. Egypt are in third place in front of Saudi Arabia.

In Group B we had all four teams in action. Iran beat Morocco 1-0 while the best game of the tournament so far is the PORTUGAL’S 3-3 draw against SPAIN. This game was set at a very fast pace and it was Spain who dominated the first half but it was Portugal that scored first in the first 4 minutes of play with a penalty scored by Ronaldo. Spain came back in the 24^th minute by Costa before Ronaldo scored again as the Spanish goalkeeper made a horrible mistake. In the second half the pace had slowed down and it was Spain that equalised in the 55^th minute again by Costa. Spain went 3-2 up a couple of minutes later by Nacho and it was not till Portugal received a free-kick just outside the box before that man again Ronaldo scored a fantastic goal.

Portugal are in their 5^th World Cup with us and the highest amount of goals that they have scored is seven goals in the 2006 and again in 2010 World Cups. They have a total of five votes. Spain have are our third highest voted team with 24 and they are in their 8^th World Cup. They have scored ten goals in the 1994 and 2002 World Cups.

So in group B after they have all played once is that Iran are top with three points with Portugal and Spain in joint second place with a point each. Morocco are bottom.

So after the second days play our five teams that have played have scored a total of 12 goals. In the 2014 Brazil World Cup after all of our teams had played their first games, our nineteen teams netted a total of 37 goals.
