Belgium and Brazil in Quarter-Finals

Day three of the last sixteen and BRAZIL winners of Group E with 29 votes took on MEXICO Runner-up from Group F with just one vote. Brazil drew their opening game against Switzerland but won their other two games. Mexico Won their first two games but lost the last one to top of the group Sweden. The game started off with Mexico playing some great football but unable to score, it took 20 minutes for Brazil to warm up and things look like it could all change as Brazil had some great chances to go in the lead before half-time. But the half-time stood 0-0. In the second half Brazil started to really play well with Mexico making a quick attack at their goal. The Brazilians scored after 51 minutes by Neymar. The Mexicans did not give up but towards the end of normal time, Brazil pounce again by Roberto Firmino in the 88th minute. Even with six added on time, Mexico could not get anything on target and The game ended 2-0 to Brazil. Brazil have taken their goals total up to 7 goals while Mexico have failed to score in their last two games but they go home with 3 goals which is their lowest score with Golden Goals. In Brazil World Cup they finished with 5 goals and lost in the second round to Holland 2-1.

In the other day game, BELGIUM winners of Group G with 17 votes took on Japan runners up with Group H. Belgium had won all of their opening games while Japan won one, drew their next and lost their last game to Poland.  Japan started off the first half with determination for the first ten minutes and it was not long after that Belgium sorted themselves out and dominated the rest of the first half, keeping the Japanese in their own half for most of the game. Although both sides made chances to score it was the Japanese defence that kept them in the game. Both teams are passing the ball around really well. It was 0-0 at half time. The start of the second half Japan score in their first attack with a lovely goal from Haraguchi in the 48th minute but Belgium came back quickly and hit the post. Japan attacked again and another goal this time from Inui in the 52nd minute.  Belgium responded quickly after they realised that they are now 2-0 down and scored two quick goals in the 69th minute by Vertonghen and then again in the 74th minute by Fellaini. Both sides never let up and we are back to end to end football.  But the story ends for Japan as in the dying minutes of added on time, Belgium have a quick break away and score from Chadli in the 94th minute. This was a fantastic game especially the second half, Belgium win 3-2 and will play Brazil on 6th July. Belgium have taken their goals tally to 12 goals and are our top scorers to date.
